Trying to get laptop running properly to donate to a community service that needs only internet access. Internet Explorer will not run. Multiple errors that I cannot find resolutions for:
I ran all hardware tests and everything checked out. Removed all unused programs.
It's a lot to ask - any help appreciated!
Someone else posted this same exact problems. The Dell response was to download the latest drivers. I experienced the same problem as they did but I have more to add.
I'm trying to use the Dell Active Pen 556W. The bluetooth connectivity works fine, Windows 10 sees it. But my touchpad does not recognize it. When I download the drivers, as the last post suggested, it tells me "no suitable device was found on this system". But wait, there's more.
Contacted Dell Warranty support. They told me to return the pen and get another one. But that's not the problem.
Took the laptop to Best Buy where we bought it. They were stumped. Here's the weird part that I can't figure out. To isolate it, we took it from the Geek Squad table back to the computers for sale and matched it up with the 7579 that was on the floor. It had a Bamboo Pen attached. The Bamboo pen worked on their 7579...and it worked on my 7579!
But wait, there's more. We took another Bamboo pen out of the box and paired it up. It DIDN'T work on their laptop, and neither did it work on ours! It was the same pen as the one that worked! So we tried another model of the Bamboo Pen with the same non-working results. Stumped the Geek Squad guy.
I wish we could have cut the cable on the pen that worked and brought it home. That was his suggestion too.
What sort of weird voodoo magic did that sales display pen + laptop combination have that we don't?
We have a Dell pen, but obviously that's not the problem. Bamboo pens don't work either, only the one they had on display, for some unknown reason. Is it a protocol issue with the pen? And if so, how do we fix it?

Since Russian OFFICIAL DELL support refused my request (although my laptop is on warranty), I've decided to try to find help here.
I've set middle click (wheel push) on a "three finger touch" touchpad gesture using windows 10 settings but each time I use that gesture, touchpad immediately stops working (algthough middle click was accoplished - I've tried to open a new tab in a browser and the tab has opened). Only reboot helps to get touchpad working again. Does anybody know how to solve that problem?
The problem occures on a Dell Inspiron 7567 laptop.
Hope someone knows how to solve that. :)

I have a problem with my Dell Inspiron 7567 laptop. I use it with dell d3100 dockstation, and it doesn't work correctly if I'm trying to wake up laptop from sleeping mode. When I lift the lid of the laptop, it seems to wake up, but the image on the screen is just a mess of multicolored lines so I can't work on it anymore. The only thing which helps to solve that problem is rebooting the system.
Does anybody know how to solve that? :)
My laptop is of inspiron 5000 series. I accidentally spilled some liquid on it and since then it won't boot. After the dell logo it just shows checking media then after some seconds it shows-no boot device found. Press any key to reboot the machine." I bought it about 7 months ago. Still under warranty. Please help.

I was trying to upgrade my BIOS from Dell website, and within 10-15 sec of the installation my laptop was making loud sound and then stopped. Now when I am trying to start my laptop it will not start and just a continuous beep sound can be heard. Can it be recovered anyway? Does this sound like a motherboard crash?
Please help me with your input.

I've been using my XPS for over a month and havent been facing any problems as such save for one, the screen doesnt sit flush with the bottom when the laptop is closed. The scree has bent out of shape (a little ) from where I use to open the flap. is this a commom problem that everyone is facing or is it of my own doing. Am i opening the screen incorrectly?

Subject line says it all. My Win7Pro E6430 can't see any SD MicroMemory Card but it's Linux Mint 18 partition can, even though my Windows side is regularly tuned up and updated by Dell Support Assist and I manually updated with Chipset_Driver_54WK9_WN_3.0.07.44_A04.
Any recommendations most appreciated!

Hi guys, I have a dell inspiron 15 3542. Im planning on upgrading the wifi card to some third party card. My question is, is the wifi card binded or proprietary to the system? Is there really anything preventing me from using a third party adapter, provided it is the right form factor and is the same slot?
I want to know the Fan speed of the Dell inspiron 5578. I have used HW Monitor as well as Open Hardware Monitor but I am not getting the fan speed. I am looking at the CPU Fan speed as well system fan speed. I am not looking to modfiy the fan speed just check at what speed is it running. Can you please let me know which utility to use for this purpose?

Intel released a BIOS update to do this on his NUC, so why not DELL ?
Moreover, it seems that the power consumption is quite the same between 2x and 4x.

EDIT : Running HWINFO it is clearly specified that the Maximum Link Width is 4x, unfortunately the Current Link Width is set to 2x ....

Hi, I have 2 Dell N5050 laptops, one is an i3 with 8 gb of memory the other is a Celeron with 4 gig of memory.
my question is can I put the i3 cpu and the 8 gig of memory into the casing/motherboard of the Celeron n5050, as the i3 casing is damaged, in summary I want to upgrade the n5050 with the celeron cpu with the i3 cpu and also increase the memory. is this possible before I open both laptops?

We have been seeing intermittent issues recently with XPS devices where the screen goes black and requires a power cycle to resolve. I can see other models with similar issues but I'm yet to find a solution for it. Can someone please let me know of any potential resolution?

I want to use my Dell Vostro 3558 laptop as a speaker to stream audio from my Android mobile (Xiaomi Redmi Note 4). On my earlier laptop i was able to connect with my mobile using Bluetooth and i would get the option to use the laptop to output audio from my mobile. But on this new laptop (Vostro 3558) i don't get the option to do that after connecting via Bluetooth. I am using Windows 7, 64 Bit OS.
One important thing i have found is that my mobile shows a yellow exclamation mark in the "Bluetooth Devices" list and there are also some "Bluetooth Peripheral Devices" under "Other Devices" in the Device Manager. Does it mean i need to install some drivers? If yes, which ones?
I have read something about Bluetooth A2DP functions and need it to be enabled on my laptop to stream sound from my android phone. How do i enable it.

I own an Inspiron 5558 laptop. For the past few months, this Intel Management Engine Interface Driver keeps asking to update the software. I have tried both a complete removal followed by a reinstall and just a repair. After both sequences I restarted the laptop. It is still asking to update the software.
I am out of warranty on my laptop but would still appreciate any/all suggestions to resolve this.

I have my XPS since May 2017 and I am (was?) an happy user. I run Ubuntu 17.10 and the laptop is really great.
Unfortunately yesterday I got the message: new firmware update; so I launch the procedure for the update, everything goes fine, at the end I get a green message saying that the computer was going to reboot and since then.... nothing
Now if I press the power button the backlight of the keyboard turn on and the pc shut down immediately. I tried all keypress combo possible but nothing change. What happend? I read others having the 15 had more or less the same issue

So I found my old Inspiron 1150 in my garage earlier and I've decided to try and revive it. The first problem would be the battery, whenever the laptop is on charge, the orange light indicating charge is blinking. After reading the manual I determined that it was because the battery is defective and I need some help with the specifics of replacing a battery. Ex: Do I have to consider it's capacity? Rating? I'd seriously appreciate replacement batteries.
FYI: The battery model is Li-ion 6T473
