Multiple "video cards" listed in device manager

Just bought a Dell inspiron 15 5567 with Radeon 445m video card. But I noticed in device mange, it also lists the generic/built in intel graphics under display adapters.

How do I know which display adapter it is utilizing, they both say they are running. I am going to game with it, and don't want to be using the wrong video card.

Dell XPS 9560 dont turn on

I have a Dell XPS 9560 FHD (almost for 4 months). I use it in a daily basis for my work and everything worked well until today. Initialy it turned on and after a few seconds of operation the screen became black but the laptop was still operating. I waited for some time and afterwards i turned it off (i though it has stacked) through the power button. Afterthat the laptop doesnt turn on.
When i press the power button it lights for a few seconds and then the light goes out. The front light (that is lighting when the laptop is charging) is then flashing orange (for few seconds) and then white. Afterwards the fan is starting for few seconds and thats all.

What can i do? Do i have to try to disconnect the battery or this is not the case?

XPS 15 L521x Bottom Base Screw Type

I need a little question answered, there are 8 screws holding the bottom base of the laptop in place, 2 of which are standard phillips m2.5x5, the other 6 are T5 screws of unknown dimensions. I tried fitting T5 m2.8x3 but they appear to be too big. Does anybody know the correct part or even better the dimensions of the 6 screws? Getting by with none of the edges held in is getting a tad annoying at this point!

I've have had my Vostro 3560 since mid-2013 and this is the first problem I've had.  When I turn it on I can hear windows come up but the screen is totally black.  There are no error beeps.  I'm not sure where to start to diagnose and fix the problem.  Any help would be appreciated.

Inspiron 7000 Gaming (7567) - Problem adding 2nd hard drive

Hello -

I have an Inspiron 7567.  Been reading the forums to educate myself of any quirks or design considerations for this laptop as it's a bit different than the SATA-only laptops I've worked with in the past.

This particular model has a Toshiba m.2 512GB NVMe (PCIe-x4) SSD.
Bios is configured for AHCI mode, not RAID.
Running Windows 10 1703
NVMe driver is presently Toshiba's RD400 driver v1.2.126.843.
AHCI driver is presently Intel's iaStorA (AHCI) driver v15.2.0.1020.

That said, there's an empty standard 2.5" SATA slot in the laptop I want to take advantage of since m.2 + HDD was not a configuration option at purchase.  Which is fine, I have several spare HDDs to choose from.

Problem:

  • If I install a SSD in the SATA slot, the drive is not recognized, intel's utility shows "Internal Empty Port 1"
  • If I install a HDD in the SATA slow, the drive is recognized properly and is useable

Troubleshooting:

  • Tried an Intel SSD Pro 2500 (360GB) from a Dell Precision T1700, not detected in BIOS or Windows
  • Tried a Crucial M500 SSD (250GB) from a retail box, not detected in BIOS or Windows
  • Tried a Seagate Momentus 7200.4 (500GB) from a retail box, detected and working properly
  • Updated Intel iaStorA drivers from A06 to A07, no change in behavior, SSDs are not recognized
  • Updated BIOS from 1.0.6 to 1.1.0, same results, SSDs are not recognized

Can anyone shine light on why this might be the case?  I've never seen a SATA controller in SATA mode not accept literally any drive it has been interfaced with.  I don't understand why the underlying type of drive would impact what was sitting behind the physical communications interface.

Thanks!

Ok like a lot of people have described the issues I am having with this 2 in 1 laptop. It's less than two years old and wouldn't start up. Only two beeps on mine but I changed the hard drive and uploaded unbuntu on mine as win10 was too slow. I also upgraded the ram and all this was working away happily. But in the last few weeks it just won't start up and just emits the two loud beeps continually.

I saw the posts about the cmos and removed the main battery and then swapped the cmos. Sure enough the removed cmos was dead on checking with a Meter. I put all back together even trying the clearing residual power for 15secs trick with no main battery attached. With all reassembled, it still does the same thing but now I cant stop the beeps with the power button. I have to open the whole thing and reseat the main battery. Any ideas good folks?

Shutdown freezing sometimes (Latitude E6540 Windows 7 factory reinstall)

I'm afraid I may have hard drive corruption or damage (hybrid SSD/HDD 500TB from the factory) but (A) I'm not sure how to troubleshoot it, and (B) if I need to replace the hard drive, I'm not sure which to get.

It happens maybe once every 10 shutdowns, but it just freezes on the Shutting Down view and the blue circle stops spinning (sometimes the hard drive keeps clicking for a bit but then stops and nothing else happens). If I long-press the power button, the system turns off and then upon restarting doesn't show any indication that anything went wrong.

I'm not sure if this is bad or OK, but I'd like to figure out the problem in case there's bigger issues.

Can someone advice how to find out what's going on? I'll be running a *full* diagnostic from boot-up (F12) overnight, but I'd also like to know what else to look at (BIOS, Windows event logs, Dell error reporting, I don't know).

Which hard drive should I upgrade to for my Latitude E6540?

I have a 500TB "hybrid" drive in my laptop, and I'd like to get a 1TB, but I'm not sure which to get!

Can someone recommend which of the above 3 to get?

Here's a list in case the compare link doesn't show for you or isn't clickable:

- 2.5 inch 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive (Kit)
- 1TB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive (Additional), Customer Install
- Dell 5400 RPM Serial ATA Hard Drive - 1 TB

I don't know the pros/cons of hybrid/SSD/HDD with Dell laptops at this point, so what do you think?

Can anybody see the Dell links I post?

If I post a Dell link here it just shows a giant image for some reason, and I'm not sure anyone else can see that it's a clickable link I'm trying to reference, such as a compare link I recently left; example:

Does everyone else see this nonsensical image for Dell links? Here's the actual Dell link in image format so you can see what it would like in a normal forum:

If you type that in your browser you'll notice it's just comparing 3 hard drives on Dell's site... it's not a monster, I don't know why this forum turns into one.

Dell XPS L502x Laptop (windows 7) won't start-up

I changed the start-up options and disabled start-up for what I thought were non-essential programs that were slowing my computer down. After trying to reboot, it says it is unable and asks to start startup repair. I have tried most of the options including system restore and even the dell data-safe factory update restore and it still will not take me to the desktop. It endlessly tries to do the start-up repair and restarts or shuts down. Any advice would be appreciated!

I bought an XPS 13 a few days back. The touchpad has been acting strangely. It skips a lot and registers random clicks. The left edge of the touchpad is never working properly. The rest of the touchpad does work properly sometimes.

Is there anyone else who's facing this issue? Any idea as to how I can resolve it?

It's an XPS 13 9630 i5.

I bought an XPS 13 i5 9360 2 days back. I've noticed that the touchpad has been skipping. Especially the left edge of it. The rest of the touchpad still works but the left edge is acting funny. The touchpad tends to registers clicks and selections and is skipping around the whole *** screen.

Is there anyone that can help me with this?

M6600 USB Port not working

$

I have recently been given a laptop, which is great, but I need all four of the USB ports to work, which currently, only the two on the Left Hand side of the machine do (it's the two on the Right Hand side that don't). I've ran both Windows and Dell diagnostics which tell me that the driver need updating. However, when the update is complete, the drivers won't install and the RH USB ports still don't work. In Device Manager, there is an "Unknown device", which I assume is the offending item.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Dell DA200 that I use on my XPS 13 Late 2016 and it broke down. I'm unable to activate the warranty or find any useful email to ask for support because this product only has a serial number and does not have a Service Tag. Can please someone help me? I bought on Amazon UK and I'm from Portugal.

Thanks.

Dell XPS 9550 Dead 84 Watt Battery, no replacement available

I have a Dell XPS 9550 that is still under the 2 year premium warranty that has had a battery failure.  I realize that the battery is only covered for 1 year but there are no batteries available, nor an ETA on when they will become so.

I have spent approximately 3 hours over the past two weeks talking to Dell technical support at varying tiers.  They just keep transferring me to sales to purchase the battery that I have repeatedly told them is not available.

My question is that even though the battery is only covered for 1 year, the actual laptop does not function as designed when I cannot purchase a replacement battery, and thus is in breach of the 2 year warranty. I love the laptop and it has been a reliable machine, but I cannot purchase further Dell products when I cannot guarantee I will be able to service them in the future.

This is not necessarily a question for the forum, just trying to go a different avenue to get someone else from Dell support to talk to.  I am getting nowhere talking on the phone.

My laptop is Dell inspiration 3558. Within one year i have got problem in motherboard and it happens after 4 days when my warranty is over. Worst product i ever buy. And i called to customer care they said you required 15000 to replace motherboard. I year ago i have invested 35000 to buy it and after one year again agin i have to invest 15000 to cure it. What great investment i have to do because of dell laptop. Company has to take responbility of that. Or provide some dignostic rather than saying replace it. Dell product are worst. If you buy it you have invest for it per year
