Out of the blue my Dell Inspiron laptop decided it needed to reboot for repairs. Now it won't stop doing a scan/repair or some other recovery. I turn it off and on and it goes between the two. Yet it never actually completes either one. It just goes on and on. Now I get the Dell Backup and Recovery program which says there's damage and just keeps going and going. I only visit a few websites and would have no idea how I got a virus. It was fine and then all of a sudden not.

Latitude E6330, fan intermittent high temp
Hello everyone, I have a problem with my laptop. The fan of the CPU works intermittently, keeps the temperature at 60, 70 degrees. The other day, the disarm and change the microprocessor paste and improve, but not much. Has the Bios 06. I think there is an update which said update will have the option of always on, to be able to have the fan always on at medium speed? I'm in linux (elementary os) and I only have the open firefox browser and the file manager. The processor working at a 40% capacity.

I keep getting notices to update this driver. Intel ac-3165 and it always fails. Also tried manual update.
Windows 10 1703, I also have uninstalled the driver and still get update notices.

How to disable Microphone in XPS-15?
I have disabled the device and uninstalled the microphone driver but when I'm on web meetings the Microphone STILL WORKS!! How can that be?
Do I need to physically unhook wires inside the laptop to disable the microphone?
I NEVER want the laptop microphone to pick up any sounds. I want the mute on my external mic to mean that the laptop cannot hear my voice. Today, when I mute my external mic, the internal mic, disabled and driver uninstalled, still works. This is unacceptable. How can I ensure the internal mic is dead and never transmits sounds?

Dell D1000 Docking Station
Hello All,
I work in a school district and we have a number of Dell Latitude 3350 laptops along with a Dell D1000 USB3.0 Dual-Video Docking Station. One of the docking stations has recently started having a strange issue with the USB ports seem to stop working. The video and LAN ports seem perfectly fine and continue to work. But the teacher will lose connectivity to their mouse, keyboard, and document camera.
I can disconnect and reconnect the USB cable to the laptop, but not even 15 minutes later the same issue comes back. I've reinstalled the drivers, and even replaced the entire unit (and it's USB cable) with a brand new one out of the box and the same issue still comes up.
Could this still be a software/driver issue? Or am I potentially looking at a bad USB port on the laptop?

difference between two Inspiron models
Hello,
i am choosing between these two models:
Dell Inspiron 7567 (I755810NDL-60B) and
Dell Inspiron 7567 (75i58H1G15-LBK)
The charactersitics of both on vendor sites are similar but 60-b model is mostly up to $40 cheeper.
What is the real difference between them and which one is more recommended?

3 Monitors on Latitude 5480 & K17A Docking Station
I am trying to connect 3 monitors to my Latitude 5480 when hooked to a K17A docking station.
I have one hooked up DP, one VGA and the other HDMI but the 3rd monitor will not work.
It appears that the Intel 520 supports 3 monitors and from what I read, it looks like the K17A should be able to support 1 analog and 2 digital but I simply cannot get this working.
Anyone have any issues with this, or more importantly a solution?

I cannot find a trace of touchpad settings in windows 10 on my Inspirion. Of course I thought about drivers for it, and here comes the second problem - I cannot find it! Latitude E5470 touchpad stops working during videos
I have a Dell Latitude E5470 on Windows 10 Enterprise, running the most up to date BIOs, chipset, touchpad driver, and display driver.
I am running into an issue that whenever a video, be it streamed or saved locally, begins to play, the touchpad no longer responds. The icon in the bottom right tray will not show any input, be it clicking or trying to move the mouse, and the mouse will not move, or allow clicks to register. Once the video is exited out, the touchpad resumes functionality. An external mouse and the Pointstick will continue to work during videos.
Has anyone else ever experienced this before, and if so, was there a fix?

SDCard write slow
I have a Dell 5530 that reads SDCards very slow.
First, I have a Dell 3550 Vostro. I used the 64GB, class 10 card in this computer and transferred 500M in a couple seconds to the SDCard. No problem.
I use the same card in the Dell 5530 and it hesitates as it tries to copy the files to the SDCard.
Both computers have their drivers updated to the latest on the Dell site. Both computers read the SDCard at the same fast speed. USB thumb drives are fast. USB Hard drives are fast.
What's the big deal with the writing on the 5530?!?
As fyi, I did put the SDCard in a transcend USB3 reader and the results were the same on the 5530 with slow write speeds.
It's almost as if the computer is choosing to write horribly on a SDCard and fast on everything else.
Also, reading from the SDCard, thumb drive, and hard drives are fast on both computers.
Anyone have ideas on what the heck is going on with the 5530 when writing to an SDCard?!?

XPS 15 9560 or wait for the 9570?
I'm thinking of purchasing the 1TB 32GB RAM XPS 15, with the current 14% off its not too bad.
However I'm wondering if its wise to wait for the refresh? The XPS has been announced with the new 8th gen CPU's, anyone know if the XPS 15 is likely to get a refresh this year? or is it going to be early 2018? and would you advise to wait?
