For the benefit of your new customers that haven't purchased new PC's since before you started making the C drive the small SSD drive, PLEASE give them a heads up!! Tell them BEFORE STARTING to load data to make sure that their data migrations and all new program installs should go to the larger D drive.
You'll avoid a good amount customer wasted time, angst and ill will towards Dell because they didnt notice the change and assumed that the C drive was the large drive.

I have a problem with my Dell XPS 15 9560 Laptop which I bought 3 months ago (I've been been using the older version before upgrading - Dell XPS 15 9530.)
2 days ago, after 1 hour break from using the laptop, I tried to turned it on again, but I couldn't. No light at the power button, no screen, nothing. I've noticed that the charger doesn't show the white light even though the cable was plugged. I've checked the battery level and it was 0 (no lights out of 5) even though it was fully charged an hour ago and it was turned off since the last time I checked.
Unplugged the cable, then connected it again with the power source, and the white light indicator was on again. I've plugged it in the laptop, and a light sparked at the root of the screen where the battery is located (seemed like an electric fault).
I took it to a Laptop Repair Service to look into this and he could get the laptop to start. It was something to do with the battery but I didn't know the details.
Unfortunately, Audio and Video Card (GeForce GTX 1050) are no longer working.
Tried to install latest drivers but they didn't solve the problem. I've reinstalled windows and wiped all data. Still nothing.

P.S: I've got a notification of the availability of a new BIOS driver a week ago and I've installed it. Not sure if this would be useful info. I've seen a few posts reporting the same turn on issue with the white spark, on a different forum.

Anyone knows a good stand for my XPS 15?, I would like the have the laptop a little inclined to type better, just like the normal keyboards for desktops.
I found this stand on Amazon but, I think that it will interfere with the vents.
I have a Mac with a DVD drive. My mac shares the DVD drive, so my other Mac can use and see the DVD drive. My question is, How can I get the Dell XPS 9560 to see and use the Mac DVD drive.
FYI: My Mac sees the Dell and can open Dell files on it. The Dell doesn't even show the Mac in file explorer?
I just received an E6420 billed as an i7-2720QM, 4 Core CPU. I'm almost certain that when I viewed the BIOS it also identified as such.
I upgraded the BIOS from A01 to A05, and then form A05 to A24. Now, the machines current configuration identifies the CPU as an i7-2640M 2 core CPU, but with a -4 appendix, as if the machine knows it has 4 cores. I would like to know once and for all what I actually have without disassembly.

My Dell Inspiron 15 s/n <Service tag removed> will not start up. It worked fine yesterday.
When I push the start button the light comes on and the laptop runs. A DELL screen appears and then nothing. I can briefly see Setup F2 on the bottom right side of the screen before it goes black. Any suggestions.
I just rand the full diagnostics, and everything passed.
How do I go about finding the source of the blue screen error so it may be fixed?
The SSD in my Inspiron 2-in-1 just croaked, one whole month after the end of the warranty. 13 months. Never seen a drive die that quickly. Since I no longer have any faith in Dell SSD's, and because HDD's are much cheaper, my question is this: can I buy an HDD for this laptop and put it in the same slot, or was machine specially configured to work only with SDD's?? Please forgive my ignorance - used to be a techie myself, but we're talking back in the days of IDE and SCSI drives...

We'd like to inform you first that, the Intel® Optane™ Memory Technology, was first targeted to work in desktop computers. For laptops or mobile systems will be available at a later date. For more information, you can check this link.
We do know that, even if your laptop meets the requirements, the reason why it may not fully work is that the BIOS is not Intel® Optane™ ready and will require at least the Intel® RST version 15.5.0.1051 installed on it.
Manufacturers should provide this BIOS update, so it can fully work for this purpose.

So I recently did a motherboard swap in my E6420 and turbo boost isn't working properly
When I put it under load (i.e Cinebench) it will only turbo up to around 2.4 GHZ
Speedstep, however, is working fine as while I'm writing this the cpu is at 800 MHZ
I have a suspicion that TurboBoost affects both Graphics and CPU, since I turned off Nvidia Optimus, it doesn't turbo properly.
Does anyone else have this problem?
How is Ubuntu installed on an Inspiron 11, 3000 Series notebook? I have less than 1 Gb hard drive space remaining with windows 10. The notebook's manual mentions Ubuntu. It says, "Follow the instructions on the screen (etc.)" I know how to install Ubuntu on an old computer with an obsolete operating system, but I want to make sure I can install all the necessary drivers. Where do I go for help?
I recently installed BIOS version 3.0 on my XPS 15 9550 using the Dell Update tool and Windows 10 immediately began throwing ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY BSDs (screenshot of the minidump attached).
The issue was resolved by rolling back to BIOS version 2.5. I wonder if others have experienced this problem, and if so are there any known fixes. If not, I would like to figure out how to get the Dell Update tool to stop bugging me to install the BIOS update.

Do I have to be concerned whether the manufactured version of my E6430 matters in installing this board or there's no difference installing a unlit or backlit keyboard?

I'm a bit shocked to find that my 7510 mobile workstation does not have TPM. This piece on howtogeek suggests any modern machine would, and as the 7510 is intended as a mainstay for road warriors... how come? I just received my new laptop. I really love it except the fan noise is loud and obnoxious. Can Dell please come up with a fix soon? Otherwise, I will need to return it.
Other customers also began to report the problem in the Dell Review Page. It's just a matter of time to get a lot more complaints when more people adopt this product.
My Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop currently has Windows 10 installed on it and everything was run in general fine and now when I try to turn it on all I get is a blue screen the has 3 icons in the lower right hand corner that says connect to internet, ease of access, and shut down. I have ran a complete diagnostic and it says everything is fine. Can someone please help???
Dell XPS 13 9360 i7-7560U CPU overheats, fan only kicks in at high temperatures, so CPU most of the time is at or above 80°C (176 °F).
I searched on dell forums and found threads wherein other customers complained about same issue, and it seems that after replacement of motherboard + heatsink the high temp issue gets fixed.
Re-pasting CPU also wouldn't hurt, but since I bought the laptop recently, I'd rather Dell do it, since I don't want to lose warranty by cracking the laptop open.
Here's the video, no prior CPU overload, this is after laptop was turned on while it was off for quite a while, though when I entered diagnostics I waited till the default tests were automatically done and finished. It seems that CPU fan only kicks in at high (80°C temperature) and even then it only lowers the CPU temp down to like 70° and goes back to 0 RPM, is it normal? It shouldn't be, since it keeps CPU at overly high temperature! This was done while on battery (ac not plugged in).
Here's screenshot while I'm logged into OS. As you can see, CPU temperature gets abnormally high with a mild CPU load. You can test your laptop same way, just open this youtube video and see for yourself.
In my case, temperature quickly rose to high value.
I also tried to stress CPU by using HeavyLoad, I got CPU load at 100% but CPU cores almost instantly got to 90°C and started rising higher, so I stopped the test right away.
The question is, should I send the laptop in? Can dell fix it? Or should I simply return it?
I also had two other issues with this laptop:
The 45W ac adapter that came with laptop wouldn't be recognized in BIOS, so it'd give error: "AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined", and wouldn't charge battery while plugged in.
Sometimes it does charge battery, but only when laptop is shutdown.
2nd issue is the auto-brightness, that I managed to finally subdue after trying all these:
disabling DBC, installing latest graphics driver from Dell website, or Intel website using this method, installing latest bios, and other recommended drivers, disabling sensor monitoring service in "services.msc".
If these 2 issues could be relevant in any way to the CPU overheating.

Is there any way to cut down the battery charge for my Inspiron 7567? i use my laptop always plugged in for game development and i don't remember that the batter has ever been discharged. i have Dell Power Manager Lite installed and i have ticked Primary AC Use there, that slows down the charging time of battery but it would be even better to completely disable the charging. Service tag does not matchs the current system and model. On windows battery is nit charging. "Battery plugged in, not charging" error seems on battery icon. My system is Inspiron 3542 but in BIOS seems 3543. I can't change it. Some times it works sometimes does not.
