I cannot connect my laptop to an external Bluetooth speaker. When I try to add the device, it detects the speaker but connecting fails. I tried turning WiFi off while doing that and didn't help. I have installed the latest Bluetooth driver. The message stays as "Connecting" for a long time and eventually fails with "Try Connecting your device again" message. Any help is appreciated.

I have a Dell Inspiron 14' 5000 Series model 5447, my AC adapter has been broken for my dog, and I'am trying to purchse a new one, since in my country (Chile) doesn't exist a proper importer for Dell pieces or stuff like that, only a bad customer service, I have benn looking for an alternative AC adapter, but it's very difficult to find the right one, the custion is, does a higher value on the Watts of the new adapter harm my coputer, the battery of this computer is 43 Wh but in the AC adapter does not appear any of that

My AC adapter has this specifications

But I can only find a similar adapter to purchase with this specitications

The middle of the bottom bezel of the display looks like is unglued a little bit, causing all kinds of dust particles to go inside and it's very hard to clean. Is this how the bezel is supposed to be or am I going crazy?

Hi there,

We have multiple Dell 3160 devices that are having issues where when a student touches their touch screen it logs them out of the device.  Also if they use the scroll on the mouse pad, it makes the screen go black.  Can anyone help me out on how to fix this?  I am unsure of any recent hardware changes.

TIA,

Hi,

I have an e6220 with version A03 installed.  I'm looking to upgrade.  But, t do so the version A14 utility requires that I have A04 installed.  I have been searching but do not see that version listed in the pull down menu of 'other' versions for my unit.  Where can I acquire this from?

Issues with TB16 & XPS13

After updating to the latest drivers and BIOS I've been having issues with the TB16 dock. It seems that while connected to the dock, my mouse works for about 5 seconds and then it just becomes dead. My keyboard is registering odd keystrokes and is almost unusable.

I've recently installed the latest drivers from the dell website using the "Auto Detect" feature. I have an XPS 13 9360.

I've been reading around about this issue and it seems that there are quite a few people that have this problem. Some of them have fixed it by downgrading the BIOS but I don't think that's a viable acceptable solution for a bunch of products that are supposed to be top of the line.

Precision 7720 & TB16 problems

I have a brand new Precision 7720 and recently acquired a TB16 docking station (2 actually - I have this issue with both docks I have tried to use).

In my bios setup, I have the "enable dell docks" checkbox enabled. I am running windows 10 version 1703 build 15063.540 (64 bit). All my drivers are up to date according to support.dell.com/drivers/guide me (Dell System Detect). This includes my Thunderbolt firmware, etc. I event went as far as manually downloading everything and installing again, just in case.

When I attempt to connect the TB16 to my laptop, I get the Windows chime indicating a new device is detected. Under my system tray's "safely eject devices" icon I have a "USB Root Hub 3.0" option. If I disconnect the dock, I likewise get the windows chime indicating a successful disconnection of a device.

When the dock is connected, I am not seeing the dock's network adapter, nor does the precision detect my monitor attached to the docking station. the dock's network adapter does have a link light so the jack is active, and yes, the monitor is on ;) No USB devices I connect to the dock work on the laptop (e.g. a mouse connected to the dock will not work).

Not sure what else to do/troubleshoot. Given I've tried 2 docks and have the same symptoms I am suspecting either some type of underlying configuration issue in the BIOS, Windows, or a bad thunderbolt port (but I have no other thunderbolt devices to test that theory against).

Anyone have thoughts/similar problems and/or a solution?

XPS 13 - 9365 - WiFi disconnect when I lock Win10 desktop to walk away

Hi, when I lock my screen (Win-key + L) on my Dell XPS 9365 laptop, the WiFi disconnects. After 20sec the screen goes black, after 40 sec the ping I'm sending from another computer starts failing. When I hit any key to wake the screen, the pings respond again. The laptop is NOT in sleep mode as far as I can tell.

This behavior is extremely irritating because everytime I get up from my desk to talk to someone, get a print, get coffee, my citrix session disconnects and I need to logon again to reconnect my running Citrix session. Since we use RSA authentication, it takes even longer.

Extra info:

- BIOS up to date, no BIOS setting to be found that could influence this.

- DELL Intel 3265 driver tried, the original Intel driver tried, Win7 driver tried, Win10 drivers no change.

- none of the WiFi drivers I tried has a Power Management tab that could disable power management.

- Looking at my colleagues older XPS laptop who has slightly different WiF card, I see in the Power Management control panel a complete section for the wireless adapter, but on my laptop there are just the standard settings, nothing for my wireless adapter. He has an option in the Power & Sleep settings page that says to not disconnect the network when in sleep mode. I don't have that option.

I have no clue on where to search any further. Any help would be great.

How do I make a Disk Image backup from an SSD to a partition on an HD?

I have an XPS (W 10) with a 500 GB SSD, I would like to partition a 1 TB HD (5400rpm) and make a disk image in order to backup the system.  On the other partition do daily file backups.  Is this possible and where would I find out how to partition to ensure it will work?

Thanks

Latitude 7370 battery light flashing orange, laptop not using the battery

The battery light on my Latitude 7370 started to flash in orange and the laptop is not using the battery. It does not start when the AC is not plugged, and shuts down immediately after the AC is unplugged. However, the Dell online diagnostic test for battery passes it as working OK (the test for motherboards also passes). In BIOS, I can see the battery as 100% charged; however it also says "Health: Communication Error". A week ago the battery still had enough charge for up to 5 hours of office work. I have tried to unplug the battery, start the laptop without it, and then plug the battery back. I have also tried unplugging and plugging back the CMOS battery. Neither of these helped at all. I have been using the laptop with WD15. The behavior persists on 2 different WD15 units as well as on the default AC charger.

Disabling desktop mode

So, I got a message from the Dell software on my computer to give desktop mode a try since my laptop spends most of it's time plugged in since I moved. Then I started having some battery issues. (Battery is refusing to charge).

I'm not saying the two are connected, but I would like to disable desktop mode for troubleshooting purposes. The problem is I can't figure out how to do it. I'm am using a dell inspireon of the 3000 line, with windows 7 installed. (All of the guides  I have found are for windows 8 and 10, which is not helpful.)

Thank you for any help you might have.

Inspiron 5500 Windows hello login issues

$

I bought an Inspiron 5500 from QVC in May It's the higher end one with AMD Radeon R5 with 4GB of dedicated video memory, Intel Core I7 and 16GB of RAM.  I setup Windows Hello with the Intel RealSense webcam.  When I reboot it it will usually work once but not lately but especially waking it from sleep I see the "Getting Ready" prompt with the symbol that indicates it's supposedly getting ready to turn on the camera but I've been getting the message "Camera not available" and to use my alternate login method in my case 4 digit PIN.  Once or twice I would get "Could not turn on the camera"  I would say it's the camera but why does it work on a restart?  I have the latest BIOS and the Dell Update utility automatically installs prompts for restarts when necessary.  Anyone else have this?

It was working fine all these days but day before yesterday after giving shutdown command it took lot of time to shutdown and I left it light that till it go off by itself.  Next morning I started it again and I watched two or three videos, after that I click on another video but it didn't open and one message popped up 'apps not starting!  Same happened to all other videos. Then I switch off the laptop to restart again but till now it never start again.  I opened the back cover, removed battery out, pushed the power button for 60 sec, reinsert the battery again try to switch on but nothing worked till now. Also removed ram from place and put it back in the slot.  If anyone have solution for these, please suggest because I'm on ship and sailing right now.

Inspiron 3521 shuts off after 30 min -- BIOS problem?

$

My Inspiron 3521 laptop suddenly loses power about 30 minutes after startup.  This behavior started around a month ago.  I ran the system diagnostics with no errors.  There are no associated events in the Win 10 system log.  I checked for overheating, but the CPU temp is around 50C.  I just realized that I had upgraded the BIOS to the latest version A14 right before this behavior started.  I tried downgrading the BIOS to earlier versions A12 and A11, but this behavior still continues.

Is this a known problem with this laptop model or BIOS?  Could there be a timeout due to a driver conflict?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Inspiron 5765 Battery Charge Stops 60%

As the title suggests, Inspiron 5765 battery stops charging at 60%.  Diagnosing quite a few in a months time (ave 25), I'm looking for a way to circumvent wasting time sending to depo or having some newby-hire do an on sight visit.  We get this charge failure on enough units to warrant  some research, perhaps finding resolve similar to the XPS Simplo battery incident, or perhaps an undocumented battery charge protocol behavior (suggested from users leaving units plugged in all the time); undocumented as in this is the wonderful Insyde BIOS/UEFI.

Searches in the Dell forums are useless; I've never experienced anything helpful in these forums even using a simple search for <Inspiron 5765 battery> provides nothing.  But for the hi failure rate in this model & the useful Insyde firmware, I find it hard to believe this does not provide one post on the forum.

Proper wall wart used; Latest BIOS/UEFI firmware (current 1.1.1 from Insyde); Windows 10 Ho (Creator, Anniversary builds); all the latest drivers from Dell; Several different images cloned from confirmed working units of exact same hardware build have been applied to issue units; you could detail the ACPI,  but these are audit-mode units, so nothing is changed from factory defaults & the units are wiped for OOBE upon completion.

The fun of dealing with the depo provides the usual unrelated & worthless information accompanying units upon return; let alone having to resubmit returns due to numerous failures on q/a.

Kindly ensure you have read the post in its entirety before responding and if you have a corresponding url to where your knowledge came from.

Thanks, Final
