Anyone know of reliable driver updates that may solve my problem? Funny thing about it... set my watch to it and it goes down about every 20 mins. like clock work. Computer is cool, not hot at all.

L521x Webcam showing as unnown device
Hi,
My machine originally came with windows 8 and the webcam was workring fine. Then 8.1 came and upgraded my install and I have had the "unknown device" issue ever since. I downgraded the laptop to windows 7x64 and it's still there. All drivers were installed in the correct order, installed and reinstalled all usb hubs and controllers and it's still showing "unknown device." I've even installed the Dell Webcam software to no avail. Can anyone tell me what driver to use for this as it's driving me nuts and I would like to use it for my company's video conferences.

Inspiron 17R triple buttons
After upgrading to Win 8.1 the multimedia, quick launch, and sound button failed to work. Uninstalled Quickset 64 and reinstalled latest from Dell. Still won't work. Tech support wants me to revert to Win 8.0? What a PIA! Anyone else have the same problem with a solution?

Inspiron 15 3521 Wireless
I have read quite a few of the posts about the wireless problems people have had after reinstalling Win 8, now I need to add to the list of people with problems. After Win 8 was reinstalled following a replacement of a bad hard drive, my wireless doesn't work. I have done a factory restore, installed all the drivers in the correct order and still nothing. The light is on but no wireless signal is picked up. Airplane mode is not on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

XPS 12 9Q33 touchscreen issue
Hi everyone,
I have recently purchased the Dell XPS 12 9Q33 device but have an issue with the touchscreen where it sometimes doesn't respond when coming out sleep mode. The only way to get the touchscreen to respond again is to un-install the drivers from device manager, re-scan, and let the drivers install again.
The device has all the latest drivers available from the Dell website installed but this issue still occurs. I have just today updated the BIOS from A02 to A03 to see if that makes any difference so will report back if it does.
Has anyone else expereinced this issue?

Possible Hardware Failure - Inspiron M5010
I just did a system recovery on this laptop following a destructive virus. I did a complete system recovery and it seemed to be okay. After re-applying a whole bunch of MS updates, the system restarted, but wouldn't boot. It went into Windows Boot Manager and prompted me to insert the Windows install disc, along with the following:
Status: 0xc000000e
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible..
I ran the diags from the partition and the pre-boot system assessment ran normally. At the end of it, the box pops up that reads "Booting Diagnostic Utility Partition. Press any key to continue." I hit a key and the message appears on top that reads "Remove disks or other media. Press any key to restart". I do that and I get a blue screen with the message "Running MATS Test - Pure call!" on the bottom.
Does this mean there's a hardware failure? If so, how can I determine which component? If not, any other ideas? Thank you in advance.

Keyboard keeps coming out on Inspiron 15R
I bought this laptop about a month ago. I DID notice the popping keyboard initially, but ignored it thinking it just a minor issue and pressed it back in.
But lately this has started to bug me as the entire side of the keyboard (next to the screen) pops up every time I open my computer. It's really annoying.
What do I do? Please fix it or tell me how to fix it.

Dell XPS 15z using Dell 130 watt power adapter, any potential issues?
I just got a dell xps 15z and wanted to use a spare 130w ac also from dell.
I know the 15z came with a 90w, and i believe this 130w came from a latitude e-dock. I "downgraded from the latitudes and decided to go xps for the multimedia (love the wireless display feature) versus business centric design.
Will there be any issues if i use the 130w on the 15z?

Dell inspiron 1545 black screen - test without memory

My inspiron 1545 have black screen problem, when i maintain the fn i have a 4 beep sound . So i tried to removed 1 ram card , swap the card etc...no result, so if i remove both ram card will i see somthing at screen.

Inspiron n7110 can't get past Dell logo -- no beep code!
Hello all -
I'm helping someone out with their n7110. The computer started being unable to boot this morning. It goes to the Dell logo where the status bar fills up and then it reboots again.
There is no beep code.
I tried unplugging, removing the battery, holding down the power button for 30 seconds, plugging in the AC adapter and waiting, and then booting with the battery out. Same result.
I tried removing the RAM and booting. Got the 2 beep codes for the missing RAM, but otherwise got the same result. Reseated the RAM and tried booting again with the same result.
There is nothing odd about the status lights on the bottom left: power on and HD flashes.
The 3 lights on the top right buttons do this before it reboots (1 is leftmost, 2 is middle, 3 is the right button):
1-2-3-2-1-123 (all on) and then the computer reboots. Anyone know if this means anything?
I tried booting with the D key to get the display test and that's fine. I booted into the diagnostics and all of those pass.
Any ideas on what's going on? I have to wonder about the motherboard, but I wanted to make sure there isn't anything else to try before declaring this thing dead.

XPS L501X Laptop Shuts Off Randomly
Hi folks, My XPS L501X laptop shuts off completely and without warning. What happens is the cursor freezes. The computer does not respond to anything. After about 15 to 60 seconds, the screen goes black and it completely powers down in an instant. It does not restart on its own.
After it shuts down I can re-boot, but sometimes is shuts off during re-boot. Other times it runs for 5 minutes or so. Usually it acts this way for a day or two, then it's "OK" for a week or so before it starts acting up again.
I have run Dell diagnostics and found no problems. I have taken it to the local computer shop. They ran diagnostics and found nothing wrong and were not able to get it to shut down. Yet when I brought it home, it shut down on me within the first hour of use. It seems to run longer in safe mode, but I did have it shut off unexpectedly today while it was in safe mode.
I suspected there might be a problem with my video card as it seemed to be worse when I had an external monitor hooked up to it. Then I ran it for several weeks without the external monitor and it seemed to be OK. Until today when it started shutting down again with no external monitor attached.
This has been an excellent computer until this started happening about 6 months ago. I"m on the verge of giving up and buying a desktop (another laptop like this one is just too expensive).
My laptop is out of warranty. Does anyone know if this is a known issue with this computer and if there is a reliable fix for it?

Laptop Switches off at a particular charge percentage.
I bought a new dell battery for my dell inspiron n5010. Now my lap switches off at 64%. Again after switching it ON it works till battery drains. Kindly provide a solution for the problem.

Can't turn down brightness level on display for inpspiron 17R 7720
I have a new inspiron 17R 7720 laptop, the fn-f4 / fn-f5 keys for adjusting the brighness of the screen don't work right - when I press them the brightness setting graphic pops up, but it is at 100% and it won't go down no matter how much I press fn-f4. Is there another way to adjust the screen brightness? Thanks.

Changing user name
This may be a simple fix, I just can't find it. I bought my daughter a laptop for Christmas so I'm trying to get it all set up now so when she opens it, it will be ready to use. During the set up process I had to sign into my Microsoft account. Now on the main screen it shows my user name. I have named the laptop with her name but how to I change this or sign out or whatever? Thanks!!

Dell XPS 17 L702x NOT CHARGING
Hi, I have a big problem with my laptop.
The battery won't charge, eventhough it is plugged in(the blue light from the ac adapter is on).
When I start Windows, in the lower right corner where the battery icon is, it says: "0% available, plugged in, not charging".

error code 3600:0649 invalid AC Adapter
Posted a question earlier but didn't put the error code as the title,just wondering if someone from Dell could clarify something for me, I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 which had a 6 cell battery and a 65w charger,if i run the Dell diagnostics with the old battery in it says battery requires changing and the adapter is ticked ok...I upgraded to a 9 cell battery advertised as an upgrade for longer use on battery power,but if I run the diagnostics with this new 9 cell battery in it says battery is ok but charger not recognized and it doesnt put on the charging light on the laptop,I've been advised that the 65w charger i was using isnt powerfull enough for the new battery hence the error code and the no charging issue, does this seem correct to one of you knowledgeable people ?? dont know where to find out what the error code means and dont want to purchase a 90w charger if this isnt the problem..thanks for your time...Ian.

Dell XPS L702x and Windows 8.1 issues
Hello all!
I was wondering if anyone else is running Windows 8.1 on this model of Dell notebook? Our CFO has this notebook model, loves Windows 8.1, but we are having some issues. I am hoping you folks might be able to offer some suggestions.
The L702x has been upgraded to 16 GB of memory and 2 SSDs (Boot Bay is an m4 500GB and the 2nd bay is an m500 1 960GB).
The notebook will pause/freeze for a long period of time and then continue on. For example, last night he had double clicked the C: drive icon, the window was drawn for the drive's icons to be filled in, then it took 1:45 seconds for the icons to appear. He repeated the process and it was very fast. He has also saved an Excel document to the desktop and it will take 2 seconds, do it again and it might be 90 seconds, and then 2 seconds again.
We can find no pattern to this behavoir.
Also, (this is much more minor) he was plugging a cable from audio out to audio in to record small sections of music or voice for presentations. That no longer works under Windows 8.1. As soon as you plug into one audio port it seems to disable the other.
The notebook has a fresh install of 8.1, no viruses or malware, all Windows updates are current, the firmware of the computer (and both SSDs) are current, and all drivers are current.
I would be grateful or any suggestions!

Inspiron 15 recovery files to a new disk is failing
My wife's Inspiron was giving her messages that the hard drive had errors and could fail soon. I upgraded her Data Safe and made a disk image of her drive onto DVDs.
I purchased a compatible hard drive from Dell and installed it. I can boot from the recovery DVDs that were made when the computer was received. When it starts a recovery from either the recovery or archive DVDs the error number 4001100200001005 pops up shortly after the second DVD is put in.
I saw at another location that message can occur if the new hard drive is not an OEM installation. That seems a bit restrictive to me since I would think that restores are often done after a hard drive crash onto a replacement.
Any direction on a solution that can help would be greatly appreciated.
