Refund for XPS 13 Lemon?

$

I bought a XPS 13 three months ago, started using it about two and half months ago. Last week the USB-C port stopped working. The tech support guy I chatted with said that it needs a new motherboard. He set up an onsite visit for a tech to install the new motherboard.

The tech came by yesterday. By the end of the day, my problems went from bad to worse. I'm in this loop of entering my Windows 10 Bitlocker code and being sent to a bunch of troubleshooting options that do nothing. I can't even reset from the recovery partition.

The best diagnosis was that the new motherboard was a dud, so I'm left with the original. Not having a working USB-C port seems like a much smaller problem now that I can't even boot up.

They're going to send another motherboard for another onsite tech visit. My other option was sending my computer out for repair in "three to five business days" starting Tuesday. I need a working computer in order to pursue my livelihood. It's hard to contemplate wiping out a week of work, so I went with the faster onsite visit, even though I'm not confident that I will have a working laptop afterward.

The best suggestion I was left with was to buy another hard drive in hopes of saving the contents of the built-in one that I have no access to right now. I don't see the point of sinking more money into a laptop that stopped working in under three months.

At this point, I feel like I've wasted $2,000 of my family's money and tons of time on a computer that's a lemon. I want to get out of the Dell game. Does anyone know how I can pursue a refund?

Error in Dell Outlet XPS 9560 does NOT have 1050Ti

Please note that several of the Dell XPS 9560 units being sold on dell.com are misrepresented as having the higher performing nVidia 1050ti graphics chip.

That is wrong and confirmed by phone with Dell as an error. Dell has not yet fixed the errors. There is no way the laptop has the power for that chip.

Most 9560 units have the nVidia 1050 and a few seem to have just onboard Intel graphics.

Precision M4800 Power Switch does not work

I have a real stumper.  The power button does not function.  Will not turn on the laptop. I set the bios to power on with A/C, so I can get it to power on by unplugging and replugging the power cord.    When Window has power switch set  to sleep or to shut down -- it does not.  Holding the power switch down will not shutdown the laptop.

I installed the latest bios from the support pages.  I replaced the CMOS battery.  I replaced the power switch. While I had it opened up I checked for loose connections, debris, dirt, etc.   At least to the point I had access (I did not open beyond removing the palm rest to get to the power switch).

Everything else on the laptop seems to work just fine.  Not sure what to do next with this.  Sad part is this started about 4 weeks after the Dell service expired.

Hi,

I hope someone can help me with the problem. My Dell Inspiron was working fine and all of sudden would not start. After several attempts to run down the charge, I finally manage to get it start into boot mode so that I can run the diagnostics. It reported the following error code and then started to run the data bus test and then lot of dots appeared on the screen and it froze!

Error Code 2000-0114

Validation 76396

Msg: CPU - cache integrity test discrepancy. CPU 0 [ID 0x0] data error at address 0x96927300. Expected B654F956, but found A654F956

Then it repeated the same message for CPU 1, 2 & 3 before moving to data bus test and it froze. I would really appreciate if you someone can help to determine what is wrong with it and what can I do to fix it?

Inspiron 15 5566 crashes when moved quickly

I have a new laptop: Inspiron 15 5566. When I moved it fast, or sometimes even when I pick it up on one end and it "bends" just a bit, the screen briefly flashes and then Windows crashes and I have to reboot. Sometimes it freezes, sometimes it gives an error and says it needs to reboot.

I've replaced the original hard drive with a new SSD drive, so I don't think it's that.

E6530 not going passed the splash and shuts off

Hello

I have an latitude E6530 which was working find but not used allot. One day it powered up but did not even get to the dell splash screen and it shut off. I checked the error leds and it told me it did not recognize the memory (solid hdd, blinking battery, blinking wifi). I performed the "static" eletricity discharge and it still did the same thing. I let it be for a day and tried again and it starded up fine. I ran a post test and it passed with flying colors.

The next day it gave me the same issue. I cleaned the contacts of the memory cards and seated them one by one and interchanged them but no change

I cant imagine it is the memory since it worked but i cant find anything else. I also disconnected the button battery for a few seconds. No change.

Has anyone encountered the same issues and if you did how did you solve it?

Thanks in advance.

Dell xps 15 9550 won't boot.

Hi. My computer suddenly won't boot after a forced shutdown. The laptop was connected to an external monitor which had gone to sleep. Usually when I move the mouse the monitor wakes up but this time it didn't happen. So I unplugged the hdmi cable and the laptop screen didn't come back. Thus the forced shutdown. After which when I pressed the power button I got a brief fan spin and then nothing. After that I just got a brief light blink each time I pressed the power button.

The display driver diagnostic works fine. I also disconnected the battery and plugged it in. Still not able to turn on. However I I'm now seeing a blinking power light every 5 seconds.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Dell Lattitude E6420 battery issue

Hi,

I have a Dell Latitudde E6420 and the device randomly has started to not boot from the battery. I started it up with the charger and while booting the device displayed a message about the battery not being identified and saying that the battery is not from dell even though it is. I contacted Dell technical support about the issue and after taking the service tag they said that they can not help me because my account is on hold... Which confused me because I never bought the device from Dell, I bought it from Best Buy therefore I do not have an account with Dell, and so I was transferred over to Dell financial services to dispute the issue, but I can not speak to them because the automated bot constantly is asking for an account number. Is there anyway I could receive some sort of help for this? It'd honestly be a great help.

Thanks,

AraeZi

Problem with WIMAX board - Inspiron n7110

                    Please read the full explanation!!!

Hello, so one day I was just sitting on my computer, playing a game, and I accidently spilled some juice in the top corner, little did I know, that was the WIMAX boar, and it will quickly be acting up. An hour later, I got off of the computer, turned it off, and when I turned it on I heard two beeps, 5 seconds, 2 beeps. I searched this up, and they were indicating a ram problem. I then got 2 new ram, inserted them, and it still did the short beeps. I then forgot about the computer for about 3 months. When I attempted to power it on, it still did the short beeps. I was about to throw away the *** thing. I then tried one last time at an attempt to fix it. I took out both ram cards, and rubbed the copper tuff with my finger, and blew on it. I also blew on the ram ports. After doing this, the computer booted up!! I couldn't believe it. Then I tried again to turn if off and on. Sure enough, two beeps once more. After this, I decided it was the motherboard's fault, so I bought a new one. When the board came in, hooked it all up, and it booted up fine. I then started gaming on it, noticed it was getting hot, and let it cool down for about an hour. I tried to turn it back on, and two beeps. I was very frustrated at this point, so I researched the problem thoroughly. I decided to check this one guy's idea, that it was the WIMAX board. I unplugged the board, and booted up the computer. It booted up. not really caring anymore, I turned it off and on. booted up again! I did this a few more times before I decoded that the WIMAX board was the problem. Not wanting to pay $15 for a new one, I tried to fix it myself. I tried all these things, then I decided to "trick" the computer into thinking that it wasn't there. This worked, just by turning the computer on with the motherboard unscrewed, and lifting up the motherboard off the connection to the WIMAX board, putting the motherboard down before the computer booting up, and holding the motherboard tightly against the WIMAX board. I figured out if you don't hold it down, it will turn on, but not actually work. I then proceeded to screw the motherboard into the WIMAX board, so I wouldn't have to hold it there.  This worked perfectly, and I am typing on the computer as we speak. Though I am afraid that if I turn the computer back off, I will have to do this whole procedure again. Any help about fixing this would be appreciated, Thank you.

Dell XPS 13 Warm top and bottom surfaces

Specs: i5 7200U 7th gen, 256gb SSD, 8gb RAM, FHD, killer WiFi BIOS and Drivers are updated to the latest has Win10-Home History After two motherboard replacements I got rid of coil whine and but now the system is feeling warm, which i would rather like to be cold. Issue The keyboard, top and bottom plate/surfaces are always warm. Even when I compare the temp with the trackpad, there is a noticeable difference. This isn't felt in any of the Optical drive old laptops as well. The temperatures are uncomfortable as finger tips and palm feels the heat below the keyboard. From what I remember this never happened before the most recent motherboard replacement. I got a repaste done as well during the last onsite service I am only using Chrome most of the time, it gets heated up easily as well. Idle and light usage temps are around 41-50C. Peak temps under stress go up to 96C but usually stay under 90, average temp during stress test was ~81C. I can share more details if required. Is anyone else also facing the same? I am feeling bad about all of this happening, don't want to raise the request for any part replacement again. What could be the reason? Could it be motherboard, heatsink, BIOS? Because usually it works like a charm and temps also doesn't seem to be bad. Please please help!

Dell Latitude E5550 Battery

Hi,

I accidentally spoiled a little bit of water over my laptop. I immediately turned it upside down, opened the back, removed the battery and waited for 24 hrs.
When I turned it on again, everything exept the battery funtioned. On the righthand side of the screen, at the bottom, the battery indicater is on 100%, but the amber batterylight is blinking on the front.
In the BIOS it says about the battery 'communication error'. I checked the connections, reconnected it several times, but no avail. Then I restarded it without the battery connected, and turned it out, reconnected the battery, but there is still a communication error.
Would a BIOS reset be advisable or is there something else I should try first
