Laptop does not start anymore; completely daed

My Inspiron 15R SE 7520 from August 2013 is completely dead. The AC adapter LED is green when I plug in the power cord while not connected to the laptop. If I connect the adapter to the laptop the LED turns immediately off. That happens even if the accu is removed from the laptop. From that I assume that it is not a problem of the accu, correct?. Measuring the AC adapter output shows 19.5 Volt as specified. Maybe a problem on the mainboard?

Does a fix still make sense given the 4 years age?

There is some interesting data on the hard disk that has not been backed up. Is there some service to get the files from the disk? The data is not super critical, so how much does such a service cost - rough estimate?


USB-C to HDMI not working

I have recently bought an adapter from USB-C to HDMI, VGA and AUX.  VGA and AUX work fine, but I can't seem to connect my laptop to any monitor via HDMI. I have read that this has been a widespread issue. Is there any solution?

I am looking to collect information on the PC's on my network. I would really like to obtain, Serial Number(s) and express service code numbers without having to look at the back of every unit on my network. I have been collecting this information for new PC's but I would like it for every other PC on the network as well.

Why does it say that I will receive the laptop 2 weeks from now when it says that I should expect it within 1-3 days?

I ordered 2 laptops online. Order # 2005705260971. I received a call from Dell's sales rep (heavy Indian accent). She told me she could offered me additional 3% discount and next day delivery. I was very happy. She then told me she has to cancel the original order and replace with new order. I told her whatever she need to do. She then told me she needs to recollect the payment. I said I don't feel comfortable to give her info over the phone. I later received an email cancellation and also another email  for the quote. However, she changed my original laptop with more expensive laptop and also she removed another laptop. I told her NO, I need the original one. She then sent me another quote with one original and one with different model. I again, told her NO. I need her to put back the same models. She keeps insisted this is the same spec I have with better price. I was mad and told her don't waste my time and just put back my original order. She said the order already cancel. I called the Dell CS, again, you can heard very heavy Indian's access. The rep asked me a lot of unrelated qs, although I have provided my original order #. At the end, I have to end the call. I tried to order with LIVE CHAT, and again, another Indian's rep. I gave up. I have NO problem with Indians. However, I have problem because they don't understand the sales process and hard to understand with their heavy access. I can't understand why Dell can't have anyone from local to help. If no one from US to contact me within the next 24 hrs, I will have to purchase from other co. Thx.

Hi. I was on a chat with Dell and the rep and his supervisor told me that current XPS 15 9560 batteries 56Whr and 97Whr are both the same physical size. Therefore, they said, both will permit installation of a 2.5inch drive. I told them that the documentation shows that the 97Whr battery is physically bigger than the 56Whr battery. They claim that they have asked the documentation department to update the user manual to show that both batteries are the same size and will permit installation of a 2.5inch drive. Is this true?

I purchased my Latitude E7470 about a year ago and immediately upgraded to Windows 10. I used it for about half a year and started getting annoyed with a bunch of little things. Eventually I installed Linux and made Ubuntu my main OS, but there still things I have to go into Windows for.

I was considering re-installing Windows to fix some of the potential issues I've been having with it. I was considering installing Windows 7 again, but I wasn't sure if it's worth downgrading. Considering this model was made for 7 I thought it might run better.

I was wondering if anyone with my laptop has kept Windows 7 and could tell me how it feels. Also, I was wondering if anyone else who installed 10 has noticed it being laggier and more "annoying" then usual. Windows 10 on my desktop vs my Latitude are night and day when it comes to performance.

I am using DELL latitude E5530 but when I turned on my laptop there are some numbers with alphabets for few seconds like L8607.What does it mean ?Is it OK or my Laptop has some problem?

Every 1-2 hours (in random intervals, sometimes shorter) my two monitors stop getting a signal. If I unplug the dock they start working again. The keyboard and mouse still work though.

Hardware: Latitude 7280, D6000 dock, Dell monitors

Software: Ubuntu 16.04 (i3 window manager)

Initially the monitors didn't work at all, but started after I installed different graphics drivers (these ones)

Hi everyone mk1 Bob newbie

Can anyone help with this please. I would like to upgrade to a backlit keyboard having made enquiries some are saying it's a straight plug and play swap , and others are saying that the motherboard must have a 2nd connection in order to do the upgrade does anyone in community know which is correct or are there different generic keyboard some with only connection and others with 2. Very poor quality HInges- Dell Inspiron 3558- Hinges broken with in 7 month- But dell say does not cover under warranty.

Hi

Today I face the same issue with poor quality hinges which got broken. I will request  all to say no to DELL laptop.

After 6 -7 month of use your hinges gone. Dell India support say, this does not cover on warranty.here was no drop, spill or accidental damage done to the laptop.

Dell India support  say it is due to usage. Please note laptop is meant to be use and not to keep on showcase. If your hinges broken with in 6 month, do you think next time the same user will ever look for a Dell laptop.

Either improve your quality in India or replaced your poor quality spare. Or else simple go away from India.

Our PM Mr Modi will not tolerate such poor quality service to Indian. I am going to take this matter to highest level. Please inform your India service to replace my hinges asap.

Dear All,

I have just brought a Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming 7567 with a PCI SSD hard disk, and wanted to add a 4TB 2.5 15mm hard disk as a second drive.  will the 15mm fix the drive bay, I can not find any information on the the size of drive that the drive bay will hold ?
