Thanks to all the folks who help me on my previous post on missing hdd bracket for my inspiron 7567.

As a follow up, Ihave contact dell twice on purchasing that missing bracket, and was informed that they ran out of stock.

That got my interest since there definitely will be people buying configs that does needs hard drive. Does that mean that since this bracket is out of stock people who order the laptop will have to wait? Or is Dell just hidinf their stock from us so supplies are prioritized to these orders?

I noticed that while using battery, color distortion appeared on the screen, the screen seems washed out, after I plug in the adapter, everything backs to normal, I try to turn off any power save function in the graphic control panel(the Intel one, my computer doesn't have any individual graphic card), or in the windows power panel,  it just doesn't work, how do I solve this issue

I had this problem after a Win 10 update. The mouse stopped working both USB and Bluetooth. I tested a different mouse and that didn't work either. Touchpad worked fine. So I called Dell tech support and they suggested I uninstall Windows update and re-install the chipset drivers that they provided. I did both and mouse still didn't work. Then tech support suggested I do a Windows Restore. Again that did not solve the problem. Then they suggested I do a Windows reinstall. At this point I got annoyed since I have 30 programs that I use for my business and a total Win re-install is out of to question. I thought there must be another simpler way to solve this problem. So I did an online search and found a fix. It was a very simple problem and needed a very simple fix:

I was able to fix this problem by adding a missing MultiString value to this registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96F-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Value Type: Multi String

Value Name: UpperFilters

Value: mouclass

The Multi String Value Name: UpperFilters was missing so I added it and the mouse started working and everything is good to go!

I was very disappointed with the Dell support team I contacted. They gave me the run around for 3 days for such a simple problem.

Unfortunately it seems my Seagate ST9750420AS is causing blue screen issues. I get error 2000:0142 on a quick test but then agaibn nothing on the extended test, but continue to get blue screens. Unfortunately also whilst trying to make a bootable system disk. I can still read all the data, I have all that as a backup, so not too bad, but I don't have a system disk to reinstall from. So that may be difficult. Any advice?

I want to replace this disk with an SSD. Can anyone advise what I need to be aware of for this? I've looked at the wd blue. What form factor / height/ width / depth SATA do I require? Would a Sata III 6Gb/s work? Size 2.75" x .275" x 3.95"?

My Precision is out of warranty.

My D520 has a PCMCIA card slot that currently houses a 4-in-1 card reader that measures 54mm wide by 85mm long and has a 68pin connector on the back side.

Anyone know the following:

     - WILL this MCMCIA card slot SUPPORT USB3.0 speeds?

     - IS there a USB3.0 MCMCIA card that fits this slot, either directly or with an adapter?

For example, there are 34mm PC Express cards that could be used with an Express Card to 55mm PCMCIA adapter.

I have a DELL Inspiron 5000 Series Laptop.  I am unable to access any websites via wireless or direct connect.  The modem shows that  the signal is going to the unit, but no signal is returning.  I have tried several ports on the modem, including one connected to a working computer.  I have also tried several cables.  The computer says it is successfully connected to our network.  This just started out of the blue.

Any ideas?

I have a Latitude 7480, a few months old.

A little while ago I woke it up in the morning, used it for a few hours, and then noticed that the battery was nearly dead. Strange, the charger was plugged in - but the battery icon wasn't showing it as plugged in.

Perhaps the charger has died? So I tried another one, which had also previously worked - nothing. The light on the plug was on but the 7480 refused to acknowledge it being plugged in. My previous laptop (E6530) was quite happy to use either, however.

N.B. no yellow warning on the Windows battery icon - no indication of the adapter being incompatible, no "plugged in not charging" - just refused to acknowledge it.

Tried the usual (reboot; shut down, wait, reboot) - still nothing.

In the end I took the bottom cover off, unplugged the battery (one of the many annoyances of this machine being that the battery is inaccessible except by taking the cover off), plugged it back in, and started up - all was fine once more.

So I wrote it off as a one-off; but now it has happened again. Luckily in both cases I had a suitable screwdriver to hand, but I can't guarantee that will always be the case.

Is there a proper fix for this?

Hi,

I need to update to the last thunderbold3 firmware, but when I click ok on the warning message, the result is another message that say: "you need to install thunderbold 3 driver before run update."

But I just have thunderbold driver installed on my system... How I can do ?

Hello, I currently have Dell Inspiron 7567 and I had this for 10days.

Here is the spec of Dell 7567 that I have:

-Intel Core i7 7700HQ

-Nvidia gtx 1050ti

-16gb ram

-128gb SSD and 1tb HDD

-1920*1080 IPS panel

Whenever I play any games with AC adapter plugged in, the FPS is more than 100 and it makes loud fan noise. However, the FPS drops to 30FPS and fan does not make loud noise when I unplug the AC adapter. I have changed the NVIDIA power plans in NVIDIA Control Panel. I have also altered my power options in control panel and turned off Battery Boost in GeForceExperience. Can anyone please tell me what is causing this FPS drop and loud fan noise?

I have bought a Dell Inspiron 15 5578 model 7 months ago. It was functioning good. But a week ago suddenly the monitor became dark from both side like attachment. Is it for hardware problem? or software problem? What is the solution?

Put the computer in sleep mode last night, heard it restart sometime in the night and woke up this morning to a "hard drive not installed error" The hard drive is a 250g ssd. I have taken it out and reseated it no avail. I'm assuming something updated or was loaded last night that is causing the problem. Any assistance is appreciated.

Hey,

I have an inspiron 15 gaming series laptop with Windows 10 and a Sony DLP TV.  Yesterday I used my PS4's HDMI cable to plug my laptop into the TV and it worked instantly. Today, I tried doing the exact same thing and the TV says no signal. I've tried multiple HDMI cables, I've tried changing the HDMI in port on the TV. I've tried using the projector settings. I've tried shutting the computer down and plugging the HDMI cable before turning on the laptop. Nothing has worked. Please help.

I get random buzzing noise with micro freezing when im playing videos or playing games if the charger is plugged in.
I did run diagnostics from SupportAssist but found no problem? I've only experienced buzzing noise whenever i suddenly connect my charger when im playing videos or gaming but now i think it gone worse.. 
I have all the latest drivers from dell and also updated the bios but still suddenly this problem appeared out of nowhere. Any help would be appreciated!

The trackpad on my XPS15 9550 recently started lifting on the bottom edge and is unresponsive for clicking. The machine is running extremely hot and the fan is on most of the time. It seems as though Dell is aware of this issue with the battery in this model. How doe I get it replaced or order a get a new battery and the trackpad fixed? Its a great machine. I have a hard time believing that its useful life is 18 months, especially for the amount of money I spent on this. Its my fourth Dell and the shortest lived one yet and the most expensive - not to good issues to put together.

As per the subject really. Hadn't used the laptop for a week or so, then last time I used it I was prompted to install 3 Dell Updates. Tried to use for first time post-updates today and it gets past the Dell logo then hangs on a black screen with a white circle going round and round. I can  see a cursor and that's it.

Have tried the Dell diagnostic start up tests which didn't show any errors. I can get into the Bios menu and Windows recovery options but not being particularly tech savvy I'm scared to change too much in there.

Any tips on how to fix greatly appreciated. Has anyone else had this issue?

I have the xps 13 9350, and I'm trying to understand what this configuration of specs really means and what it does..i honestly have spent hours researching, and all I can come up with is that this laptop is fast for certain programs that require power and speed..but I cant grasp a general idea on how I should be using it based on my usage.

I use this computer to surf the web, download applications and programs (very rarely, only if they are awesome and I feel like I need them/or use them daily), watching YouTube videos in high-def, and doing re-search.  I don't do anything demanding, like there is no video-editing, no gaming, no large file-transfers, nothing like that - so I don't see the need for anything to be working super-hard, or cpu/gpu/hardward-consuming. unless I need these things for what I've listed above? I do like to multi-task, and have multiple tabs in edge open, and other programs open/running like fb messenger, etc.

is there a way that I could tweak the system settings to not be running like a Lamborghini all the time, and instead maybe just like a corvette ?? does that make sense ? lol!

and is it normal for a laptop of this size to stay relatively cool all day long, and then towards 9-10, or 11 hours in of continual use to be running hotter temps? I mean, I'm only using it for browsing the web, research, and youtube video watching - I would like the best possible experience while doing those things of course, but if I'm using system resources that I don't even need (like having them on standby incase I want to use them) id like to know, and maybe have knowledge on how to turn them down, or even turn them off!

I want this laptop to last me as long as possible, and would like to increase its life-span wherever possible - so if anybody has any advice or insight for me on this super-awesome to use & sexy laptop, please please please! help me out here, there seems to just be TOO MUCH information spread out throughout the web for me to possibly sort-through in time, I'm really trying but I feel like there are some very important basics I'm missing, if your reading this and your that person with that knowledge, or insiders information, I'm begging that you please comment and help this kid out - I received this laptop in a trade, and I only knew that it was a fast laptop and that the hardware was superior - idk what ive gotten myself into so-to-speak. (however, I love it!)

Hello All,

I have a Dell XPX 13 9360 laptop with a WD15 dock that I want to use two Dell 2316M monitors.

The dock connects up to the laptop fine - I am getting ethernet, USB and power from the dock via the Thunderbolt port. But, I am getting no video output from it. The laptop does not recognize that there are additional displays connected. The monitors are on the correct input and the monitors work on their own respectively (tested by connecting to another machine).

I have tried installing the drivers from Dell (Thunderbolt, ASMedia USB, Intel Graphics, etc.), but nothing makes it work. I attempted to install the Firmware, but it fails.

The laptop is Windows 10 Pro.

Does anyone have any suggestions to make this work?

I think it comes with i5-6440HQ and HD Graphics 520. But I couldn't find what's the HDMI port version.

Would like to buy a 4K screen, but not sure if the HMDI port support it.

My Inspiron laptop came with Windows 7. I upgraded to 8, then 10. Everything was fine. I'm disabled and my right arm is not steady. Last week I installed a new printer. I forgot to uninstall the old ones. I needed to ftp some txt files and could not find them. I went into Program Files and not Program Files (x86). I saw Brother, my old printer software, listed. Due to a brain injury, I have amnesia. So I didn't think to use the Uninstall feature. (I know I'm giving a lot of information but figure the background will help me obtain assistance). I highlighted Brother and right clicked "delete". But I didn't realize I also had Program Files highlighted. Oh yeah, it began deleting files from the first folder. It said 1,400 files or something. I hit cancel immediately. I shut down the laptop and cried. Why? I'm in a nursing home and my laptop is my means to the outside world. I spent the whole night thinking how to fix this. After much thought, I knew reinstalling Windows would overwrite files. Plus my CDs are packed as I'm moving in two weeks. So ... what I need is the files I deleted. I don't remember the first program listing but less than a hundred files were deleted. I'm afraid to turn the laptop on in case I deleted vital files that will break Windows. What I believe I need is: A. Copies of files I deleted, meaning the first folder in Program Files B. Advice on whether or not I can safely turn on my laptop C. If it won't load, how do I get into the Home Screen to replace the files? D. If someone here, or Dell Support emails the folder to me (pretty please), how can I get the files to my C Drive/Program Files? That's IF Windows loads .... but if not, how? I'm trying to be explanatory and clear but am extremely upset. I'm using my iPad which I don't like since I've used Windows since 1993--3.1 version. I recently got a gift of a Dell mini laptop which converts to a tablet but have used it just once. I'm out of warranty or I'd contact Dell directly. I can't afford service or support. I'm pleading with everyone here to help. Been disabled nine years and used to code and knew HTML by heart. Now, I rely on the kindness of strangers..... Please help me.

Hello everybody,

I have an above mentioned Dell Gaming Laptop ( i7, GTX 1050 Ti, 16GB Ram, +SSD) Just got it  3 days ago. I updated all drivers and unfortunately I have serious lag drops during the game every 1-2 minute or less. I have read lots of forums already seeing people facing this issue too like CPU throttling. I tried to reinstall to the factory windows and Nvidia driver but I still have the issue. ANYONE who has found a solution??
