Hallo,

I just got a Latitude 10 with Windows 8 Pro, and there's an issue with the screen orientation - it keeps resetting to "landscape flipped" mode. I go into Control Panel --> Display-->Change Display Settings, change it from flipped to regular landscape, and click OK, but then it immediately goes back into flipped mode. Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks,
Phil
Hi all
I am in doubt if I can upgrade my windows vista 64 bit to windows 7 or 8? If yes, can I just buy an upgrade from any software supplier or do i have to source it through Dell shop?
Thanks in advance for your time and answers

I have replaced the hard drive on my Inspiron n5050. I try to start up I get a message saying:
Realtek PCIe Family Controller Series v1.24 (10/07/10)
PXE-E61: Media tets failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM
Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key
I have tried restarting in safe mode, but when I press f8 on startup it just goes to this screen always.
I have checked the Boot series on the setup menu, and changed the 1st boot from diskette to hard drive, but the same screen keeps coming up.
Any help would be much appreciated.
hello! i have an inspiron 15r and i want to know how i can disable the tactil panel, the touchscreen
Hi I have found a problem on my inspiron 17r 7720 that i cannot find a solution to. I have had the problem since i got the device. I find that if I shut down my laptop when it is plugged in and charging, when i next boot up, after about 10 seconds it immediately sleeps. Its really annoying and cannot find why it happens.
Another problem is that the laptop sleeps when i have closed the lid, but not straight away. I have changed the when to sleep options to never. And usually a laptop sleeps straight away when closing the lid. for example i leave my computer to download something overnight. When i wake up and check on it, the laptop is sleeping but managed to download half of the file. so the laptop sleeps by itself after lets say, an hour after i have closed the lid.
I have even installed a SSD, fresh installed the OS and updated all relevant drivers, but the problem persists. I have even downgraded my bios after i read that the new bios may be causing the problem.
Hi,
I have dell XPS 13 L322x and Windows 8.1 on it. Web camera is quite dark, any suggestions? May be drivers?
can not find boot up option for USB on Inspiron 3520 , biossetup.
10 months ago my pc became corrupted and I had to do a re-install via a USB dell recovery. When I did this there was an option in bios to boot from USB, after the re-install I notice that this option is no longer available, please can someone look into this and tell me what happened and how to get this option back ?? I see in detail its running bios version 2.7 smbios, version string A02 , date 8/15/2012.
Purchased this .... laptop on 10/01/2013. I only had it for almost three months and it's absolute bullshit that it's causing errors. I get BSODs randomly. Cannot even play games on this machine because it'll likely BSOD right away.
Diagnostics revealed CPU error on L2 Cache and memory errors Address Test and Advanced Pattern Test
Hi,
My Dell Studio has just crashed and wont restart. The mute and volume up buttons are flashing and the volume down button is solidly lit. I could not find the diagnostic code when searching the internet. I could find pretty much every other diagnostic code apart from this one.
Any advice would be most welcome.
Thanks,
Andy
Hi, I have a Dell XPS 15z laptop. I was typing on my laptop today when out of no where, a dark shadow abruptly emerged on the right side of my laptop screen. At first I thought it was a glare, but when I tilted the screen I realized it looked like something went wrong with either the screen, backlight, etc. I unfortunately can't include a screen shot of the shadow because it doesn't show up that way. However I included a picture I took with my phone that might help explain my problem
Any recommendation, advise or help is greatly appreciated :)
I boot up ok, get to log on window and log on ok, then get a blank (black) window. Get the same in safe mode. Can cntrl+alt+del and open Task Manager. Can't see the normal windows desktop. Keyboard does not bring up windows start menu either. Any ideas?

I'm helping out my parents with an issue that started after they upgraded their Inspiron 3521 to Windows 8.1 roughly 3 weeks ago. Their laptop has the Dell Wireless 1703 802/11b/g/n adapter. The wireless connection has been drastically impaired since the 8.1 update. The signal strength reports much lower than before the upgrade. Some rooms in their house that were rock solid are now intermittent and other rooms are completely unusable. Their other dell laptop has not had any degradation in wireless performance. I brought the laptop to my house and set it up roughly six feet from my AP and it showed 80% signal strength. At 30' or so, it was unusable. I updated the drivers, rolled the drivers back, tried the atheros driver, checked the antenna cables, set the power option to maximum performance, but none of those made any noticeable difference. I also tried running the diagnostic, but the result was not very useful. It gave me the signal strength but that alone doesn't say much.
What needs to be done to get the 1703 wireless adapter working well in Windows 8.1?
Thanks
Keith
My XPS12 on Windows 8.1 constantly has a high pitch buzzing after it is fully charged and it only goes away when I unplug it. My replacement device from Amazon still has the same problem. What can I do?
Could someone boot into recovery mode, launch the command prompt and run the following, bcdedit /enum all and post it? I have a friends Dell 1545 and I think the Boot Manager/Loader is screwed up b/c it is not booting into recovery. I can boot to the Windows 7 OS, but we need to do a factory restore because of a nasty virus she has. I would greatly appreciate it!
Hi,
Just have recently purchased the Inspiron 3521 with Ubuntu 12.04 on board. I have noticed that Wifi works very slow. I have connected the cable and Internet works on the expected speed. When connect back Wifi it stops working fast again. I found just some additional drivers installed for Graphic Card, but not to Wifi adapter. Was trying to find out the drivers to Wifi for Ubuntu but was not able to. Can anyone help me?
Here are the number:
speedtest.net results for network through cable: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3168525761
For wifi speedtest.net was not even completed though according to the numbers the speed was approximatelly the same.
Ping results for cable:

But what I have noticed is that though the time mentioned in results like 67.7ms etc are close to cable ping results, the delays between these lines results likewise, between
64 bytes from muc03s02-in-f4.1e100.net(173.194.35.164): icmp_req=11 ttl=53 time=67.7 ms
and
64 bytes from muc03s02-in-f4.1e100.net (173.194.35.164): icmp_req=12 ttl=53 time=139 ms
are much longer than via cable and this length of it veries during the ping.
I cant attach a file here, but here is a screenshot to the information about my hardware in Ubuntu, wifi is highlighted with red for some reason:
hardware info was gottend with Wifi turned OFF but same results are with turned ON.
Any ideas, help will be appriciated.
Thanks.
