Dell XPS 15 9550 reset

I've recently had to manually reinstall windows 10 on my dell XPS 15 using a windows 10 ISO due to getting constant blue screens. I've found out that it was because of a driver update for intel rapid storage technology, which I can see others have had problems with and as far as I know has still not been fixed. My computer worked fine for a while until I started attempting to update my drivers again and now my computer starts freezing after approximately 10 minutes (sometimes a lot less, sometimes more). All my drivers are up to date according to SupportAssist and automatically checking driver updates on dell's website. I've only reverted to update for intel rapid storage technology as It causes me to get blue screens, like before I reset windows. 

Does anyone know of a solution to this problem, or somewhere where I can get an ISO specifically for a Dell XPS 15. My concern isn't getting bloatware with windows or having to remove all my personal files, my main priority is just getting a version of windows that actually functions on my computer as intended. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I attached my laptop to an older docking station and now cannot get it to release. There is space between the laptop and the release box. Any suggestions to unlock it?

Laptop keeps typing letter P by itself

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 which was upgraded to windows 10.

The issue i am having is that when it gets to the login, it types the letter P repeatedly in the password without anyone touching the keyboard.

At first i thought it was a keyboard issue, so i removed it.  Same problem occurs without any input devices connected, i also disconnected the touch pad and the wireless mouse.

One piece of hint to this issue is that if i press F2 to get to the bios, the problem doesn't occur. It seems to do this only after POST.

Anyone has any idea how i can fix this?

Dell M5510 - Unable to boot - display works, no bios or boot screen

Hi,

This morning I went to use my laptop and it is no longer booting.  The power will come on and the power button lights up, the keyboard lights up.  If I let it sit it will stop running after around 30 seconds to 1 minute.

If I click the power button after it started, I can hear the fans spin up then the system shut down.  I have ran the LCD test and it works.  Their is no boot screen at all or dell screen.


I updated the bios last week and I had run it since.  I also took the whole thing apart today to remove the bios battery for 1 minute and put it back together but it still does not run.

Is their a way to diagnose motherboard issues?  why would it not boot or is their more steps to look at?

Recently purchased this computer for my wife.  She complains that the touch pad has a small sweet spot for tapping.  It is unresponsive on the edges and responsiveness is intermittent as you move in from the edge.  Is this normal?  My laptop is a different brand and is responsive anywhere on the pad

I am seeing more of these cracked open laptops come to my shop and every single one of them were lacking locktite on the fasteners/screws. The locktite is the blue paint looking material at the end of the screws.  The bottom of these screws should be completely blue if an adequate amount of locktite were applied. These laptops have none at all or a small patch on one side of the screw.

Every single screw is loose on these models because of it.  The hinges are absolutely fine it is the looseness of the screws causing a cascade chassis support failure. It begins by some screws coming loose resulting in more stress placed on adjacent tighter screws near the hinges. This higher than normal stress causes the chassis to crack at the hinges later causing complete hinge separation.

This is 100% a manufacturer quality control issue and Dell is 100% liable in my opinion.

Service Tag is not recognized (Laptop Inspiron 5000 series)

I bought an Inspirion laptop at Best Buy in July 17th, and I'm trying to download its recovery image at Support page, but the Dell Support is not recognizing the service tag of my laptop.

What do I need to do? (I already registered the product at "Retail Registration").

Please, someone could help me on this matter?

E6500 with Windows 10 Pro and USH driver needed

How do or do I need this driver?  My E6500 will not recognize my Android Marshmallow phone and that's when I ran the troubleshooter.  It said the broadband ush driver not installed.  Try to find it, but no luck.

Now when I plug my phone in to the usb port, the troubleshooter says it's not responding.  What the *** man.

Inspiron 7537 & Creator's Upgrade

My Dell Inspiron 15  7537 laptop hasn't been offered the update to the Creator's Update via Windows Update yet and it doesn't appear on Dell's upgrade list. Has anyone updated their Inspiron 7537 to the Creator's Update and did you have any problems?

Trying to update XPS 13 BIOS without battery

I have been running my XPS 13 (9350) directly from AC for a couple of weeks because I removed a battery that recently became swollen. Nevertheless, I wanted to update the BIOS (1.4.18) but it is not allowing me since the battery no longer exists. The following message pops up...

"The AC adapter and battery must be plugged in before the system BIOS can be flashed.

Press OK when they are both plugged in or CANCEL to quit"

Clicking OK simply just re-pops the dialog.

Does anyone know of a workaround?

Studio 1558 CPU upgrade issue

Hello,

I have a problem upgrading a Studio 1558 laptop with i3 350m processor to an i5 430m which was working perfectly fine on another Studio 1558. When I switch the processors I get two beeps (which should indicate a ram problem but the ram is the same). Any ideas why this is happening?

i have upgraded my dell inspiron bios to latest version that is A10 a few days ago . i have never upgraded my bios before. Due to some problems i reinstalled my windows 7 from dell Reinstallation dvd. After that i encountered series of problem. whenever i hibernate ,before resume i got an error msg that "your system firmware does not preserve the system memory map across hibernation transition. another problem is when i put my laptop to sleep sometimes it does not wake from sleep. The power led will remain stable and no  other led will blow but i can hear the sound of hdd and fan working as normal. during this time i have checked connecting to external lcd  tv using hdmi but this doesnot work.

what should i do and i also forgot my system's default bios version.

On the website, the graphics card is listed as a "NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 with 4GB GDDR5"

A standard GTX1050 only goes up to 2GB. If the GTX1050 has 4GB, it should be a 'ti' and much better than the standard GTX1050, however 'ti' is not listed anywhere on the website.

Which one is it? A GTX1050 Standard (2GB) or a GTX1050ti (4GB)?

So i have a brand new dell inspiron 15 7567(4gb ram, i5, gtx 1050, 1tb hdd) and its only been a week now im currently facing an annoying problem which is the buzzing sound u can hear whether on the speaker or headphones when im plugging in or out the charger though im not facing this problem back then..
I tried:
uninstalling/updating the audio driver, I'm still facing the problem
run diagnostics using supportassist but there seems no problem
hopefully its not a motherboard, power supply problem.
also noticed that performance drops when im disconnected on the charger although all setting are set to high/maximum performance.

please help 


DELL 15 7000 Gaming PC Ran into a problem driver_irql_not_less_or_equal

Hello, 

My new bought DELL 15 7000 Gaming laptop got problem, which is in Windows, it suddenly goto blue screen and showed me "Your PC Ran into a problem, Error : driver_irql_not_less_or_equal". 

This is completely new laptop and I haven't even installed anything on it. It can happened when I use any explore on internet or just plugin a usb stick. I have used DELL pc test from web and BOIS diagnostics, all didn't find any error. However, it now happens more and more frequent and my laptop is hard to use.

 

Can any technical people give me any advice before I launch a repair request?

XPS 13 9360 freezes and shows "Hard Drive not installed"

I have a Dell XPS 13 9360, bought in 11/2016, still under warranty.

Windows 10 Home, all updates installed.

Every once in a while (irregular intervals, once a week to once a month), the laptop freezes, then restarts, enters BIOS, and shows a message "Hard Drive not Installed", then there is a status bar showing the diagnostics is being performed, and then the laptop shuts off. After I turn it on again, Windows boots and everything works normally. Otherwise, no problems with the laptop. I don't see any clear association between freezes and what kind of work is being performed or software being run. Sometime happens during heavy load, sometimes on idle.

Things seem to get better after every BIOS update, it doesn't happen for several weeks, but then starts again. Do you think this is just a BIOS problem that may get solved eventually by updates, or is it a hardware issue? Should I contact support and attempt to fix? I imagine it would be very difficult to troubleshoot because the problem is very intermittent. Is this a common problem for other 9360 users?

only 1 usb port is working. the drivers from Dell/Drivers - didn't solved that issue.

2. and another problem - the battery is not charging - it's status is:

0% available (Plugged in, charging).

I read that I have to update the bios, but to update the bios I need at least 10% battery.

Does Dell Inspiron 3000 series 3567 support backlit keyboard?

I have read that some touch-screen laptops support backlit keyboards. However, I am not completely positive this model can do so. I have not found any info on the Internet.
