Hello, some Dell Driver update files give me three options: Repair, Change, and Uninstall.  There is no option to update them.  How can I update these drivers?  Do I uninstall them and reinstall them?  Some only give me the option to Repair them.  Thank you.

XPS 15 Laptop Battery swelled until trackpad stopped working

I have a XPS 15 that is just out of the warranty period but about a month or two ago I started noticing that the trackpad would not click down anymore. I don't use the trackpad very often so I don't know how long it has been like this but once I noticed the clicking issue I also noticed that is seemed like the trackpad was also sticking higher up then before. What are my options here?

Dell i5565 Underclocked RAM

It says the ram it comes with is DDR4 2400 (part number: 8ATF1G64HZ-2G3), but the clock speed set in the bios is 1866 Mhz (933 Mhz single channel) when it should be 2400 Mhz (1200 Mhz single channel). Why is the RAM underclocked and can this setting be changed?

Dell Dock 6000 used with Latitude 3480

We recently procured a Dell Latitude 3480 Laptop and we were recommended to procure a D6000 Dell dock along with it. The only issue we have currently is the laptop doses not charge when it is connected through the dock where as on the web-site it states it is compatible with this laptop. Support was unable to help us either stating it need a USB C port. Any insight into this issue would  be helpful.

Get Details about connected usb-c Dock

0

Hello, as we are switching to usb-c type docks like WD15 and TB16 I'm searching for ways to get information about these docks by script.

These docks have to be managed as they have firmware which might need to be updated. This means I want to read some information (dock type, service tag, firmware version, mac address) about a connected usb-c dock on a windows 10 computer.

The only information I found so far is in the "system information" report of dell command update, which I can't generate by script. This reports lists the firmware version of the dock.
Some other clues are in device manager, like "Realtek USB GbE" NIC.
I had a look at dell command monitor but I couldn't find a class that gives me this information.

Anyone? Thanks.

7% battery wear on new laptop but battery charges up to 107% according to batteryreport

I've an Inspiron 15 7560, it's just just 3 months old. The design capacity of the battery in this thing is 41,998 mWh but windows batteryreport and hwmonitor are showing a full charge capacity of 39,079 mWh. That's 7% less. But the strange thing is that batteryreport as well as hwmonitor show a charge level of 107% when the laptop is full charged. And that's not on one occasion, every full charge is shown as 107%.. The thing that's even more strange is that according to battery capacity history of powercfg batteryreport that drop in capacity happened just around the time I changed the battery charge setting from "Adaptive" to "Primarily AC Use" in Dell Power Manager Lite. What's happening here?

Dell E5500 Keyboard and Mouse not working

I have a Dell E5500 running Windows 7 and the keyboard and mouse stopped working.  For the keyboard I get  "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)".  For the mouse I get  "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".

I have tried deleting/re-installing devices and drivers, ran AVG & Malwarebytes programs, disk check, verified and updated bios, deleted all windows updates since problem, verified all programs are enabled in MSCONFIG.

I do have this machine running both Windows XP and 7 as a dual boot.  WIndows XP works just fine.  I cannot get the devices to work in safe mode.  I believe that there is a registry issue but of coarse I have no backup.

Any help would be appreciated before I have to reload the machine.

Dell XPS 15 with WD15 dock and stops working after re-dock

I have a Dell XPS 15 and a Dell Dock WD15 which has been working fine for a long time but recently the WD15 dock has been acting up after it is re-docked to the laptop.

Everything works fine if I start the laptop with the dock plugged in but after re-docking the USB ports and Network (cabled) stops working. Everything seems fine with the drivers and as said it only happens after re-docking.

I've tried to rollback drivers and even downgrade the FW on the dock but the problem remains. The only way to "fix" it seems to be to restart the laptop after re-docking.

Running Win10 64-bit.

Any suggestions?

Dell Inspiron 7568 and Active Pen PN556W

Greetings

I recently purchased the Dell Inspiron 7568 FHD laptop and the Dell Active Pen PN556W.

I was informed by the website that these would work together.  I paired the pen with the laptop, downloaded the control panel and set up the buttons with my preferences.

Here is the issue, the pen and barrel buttons do not work.  I have tried replacing the batteries but it will not work.

However, I am able to pair it with my laptop, and use the top button to open certain programs.

I do not understand why this is not working, and I would imagine that if the pen wasn't working, then no part of it would work.

Could anyone help me find some answers?

Thanks.

Dell Power Manager Lite

FOr the last few weeks... I get an error message every time I plug my charger in.  Now I cannot charge my battery.  sometime it works and other times not.  May be related to what ever else is plugged into the house outlets at home... iPad, iPhone, Mac computers, HP printer, etc.

Very annoying and now cannot leave my puter unplugged.

I think it is a software issue as the charger and cord all work fine to keep the puter alive when plugged in.

TIA,

JP

Dell Outlet Refurbished vs New

0
0

I placed an order on dell outlet for a "new" xps 13 2-in-1 laptop.

It was listed as new so I was assuming it is new.

However, when I received my item it was not packed like what I would expect for new laptop. Therefore, I sent an email to CSR to tell me the condition of my laptop. I was told it was certified refurbished.

Can anyone tell me if this is right? There is price difference between a new and a refurbished one. And why would Dell outlet present it as a new one while it is actually not?

Laptop turned off and won't turn back on.

Hi guys,

I was using my laptop just now and after a few minutes of inactivity it turned off so I thought it went into sleep mode. I tried to turn it back on and nothing happened, no lights are on. The charger light also went off when this problem started.

Any help is appreciated.

same hinge issue right side

plastic hinge covering broke and the screen is now popping off.  Dell offered to fix it for $239, almost same price as the computer.  lol should be a recall and items sent out to fix.
