Hard drive replaced and purchased & installed the Windows 8.1 Recovery Media. Can't locate any way to find wireles so I can connect to my wifi.
Further, what do I need to do next after installing the recovery media on my new hard drive?

Need restore disks for Inspiron N5040
My Inspiron N5040 laptop running Windows 7 did not come with any disks and I'm having a difficult time finding the area on Dell's site to order them. Does anyone know if they just don't offer Windows 7 recovery disks anymore? My computer is stuck in a System Repair loop and won't even boot into Safe Mode so I really need the disks to format my laptop. Any help would be greatly, GREATLY appreciated!!

Battery drains when plugged in
Whenever I have a game on (ex. overwatch, or any game) the battery will slowly drain to %0 regardless of it being plugged in I have to turn it off and wait for it to become fully charged again, If I'm just on the internet on google it will charge, this only occurs when I'm on a game. I've just starting having this problem and wanna know how I can fix this.
I've already done diagnostics tests, multiple times. but don't know what else I can do.

XPS 15 9560 - useless 32GB mSATA SSD
I have an XP 9560 that came with a 32GB SSD and 1TB HDD.
Windows 10 is nearly impossible to keep on what space is given by the 32GB SSD, but even when moving personal folders, programs, etc to the 1TB drive, I still get "not enough space" constantly.
Since I can't seem to get around that issue, I'd like to install the OS on the 1TB drive, but there's no option to select a partition when installing Win 10. I even went into the BIOS and disabled the SSD, but the recovery media reenabled it and used it for installation.
What can I possibly do to overcome this problem?

5480 deployment problem
Hi,
we have a problem when we deploy out Windows 10 over the SCCM. The network drivers are installed and it also loads WINPE but after this the system stops at wipped c: \.
Do I still have to install a driver? The older Dell models all works fine with this deployment.

Checking if Dell Desktop or Laptop is End Of Life / Unsupported
How can i determine if a Dell computer is still actively supported by Dell with regard to security fixes in BIOS/drivers/bundled utilities?
I have seen a previous post with a similar question and the only answer was to check support.dell.com. I have tried that by entering the service tag for a 2003 Dimension 8300 which i would guess is no longer supported but i couldn't see any obvious confirmation of this. The only clues are the fact you cannot select any OS other than XP and hardly any drivers listed. However, this is not an adequate method of checking, especially if it were a newer device which is more on the borderline and may well have drivers listed but are no longer being updated.

Memory upgrade
I have a E6500 running a replicator and all cards that can be installed are but right now I am only running 8Gb of ram which is the most with the video memory. But my main question is that the ram I have is only 400 and my FSB runs at 1066 but when you look for memory running at that speed it is 204 P and not 200 P. I can get memory that runs at 800 MHZ FSB but if I am going to upgrade then I want to upgrade to the best and fastest I can because I dont plan on changing the memory any time soon. I have 2 of the exact computers so this 8Gb will be put in the other which is my standby computer. So I just want to know why my main board is running so fast but my memory is limited to 800 Mhz and is that right that it will not accept the 204 pin memory when it has 200 pin memory running at 400 Mhz now.

After Driver updates M4600 no longer recognizes Andriod
Hi,
Recently updated several drivers for Networking along with a bios update. Now I can't get the PC to recognize my phones flash drive. On a second laptop the phone is recognized and gives the option to set for file transfer and I set to 'always'. When attached to the M4600 it registers as 'charging' so it does see the phone but no pictures (no drive). Needless to say it used to work.
I've gone through al the drivers to no avail, any ideas?

Sleep Mode Always Results in an Unexpected Shut Down
Hi, tech friends. I would love some help with a problem I've been having for a long time. I have a Dell
Inspiron 11-3147 2-in-1 laptop running Windows 8.1. Sleep mode has never worked on it. I've fiddled with the settings in numerous ways, but it doesn't make a difference. The power buttons/closing the lid have the same effect as the "when the computer sleeps" settings: the computer shuts down unexpectedly. In fact, Event Viewer details the level as "critical" and says that "the system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first." The hibernation function does seem to work, but I finally got around to installing an SSD, and I want to avoid unnecessary writing to the drive. I also just clean installed the OS (following Philip Yip's guide). I had hoped this would solve the problem, but to no avail.
So I did some research and found a person who seems to have had the same problem (the only difference being that hibernation, for him, also resulted in a shut down). I hope no one will mind if I post a link to another forum. I normally wouldn't, but the OP thoroughly describes the problem and his attempted solutions, and he follows up with every suggestion. The solution that finally works for the OP's ASUS laptop, however, required reflashing the current BIOS with an ASUS utility. So that's what brings me here. If it's not too much trouble, could someone review the link I provided and perhaps offer a solution that would work for my Dell laptop?

Problem with WOL

I have 20 laptops Dell Vostro 15-3568 with Windows 10. I want to use function Wake on Lan, but
over Wifi. I turned on WOL in bios, ticked out faster start boot. In settings wifi card I can't see any
word with Magic Packet.
My Wfi: qualcomm atheros qca9377.
I have the newest drivers.

Thunderbolt 3: Laptop does not charge
Hi,
I tried the Dell TB16 Dock which I’m totally unhappy with (noisy, too short cable, USB not working reliably) as well as the Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Dock. My laptop is a Precision 5510.
The Belkin works perfectly with the exception that it does not charge my laptop. The Belkin Thunderbolt 3 delivers 85W according to specification. This is less than the Dell Dock but it should be sufficient to (at least slowly) charge my laptop. To my understanding, the laptop and dock should negotiate the power and agree on 85W.
QUESTION:
- Does anyone know how to make the laptop accept power from the Belkin dock?
- Does anyone know an alternative Thunderbolt 3 dock that is accepted by the Dell laptop?

Inspirion 15 7567 Gaming. Attempts to update Intel WiFi driver and chipset continuously fail. Need help and advice.
Hello. I've noticed through the Support Assist program that I have two updates for the Intel WiFi driver and the chipset. However, repeated attempts to update them have resulted in errors. Downloading the WiFi driver separately from Dell's website, and then attempting to run it there, have led to the same result. Tonight, I tried to update the WiFi driver again. This time, the installer opened up a command prompt window with mup.exe, then the Intel window came up and said the installation was blocked because a newer version was already on the system.
How can I tell whether or not I even need the updates SupportAssist keeps pushing to me? And if I don't, why does it keep pushing them to me?

I am trying to help my mate with his dell D630 laptop. its got windows 7 home premium installed on it
but its never been updated, and when you try to run windows update it just hangs there.
I have run windows update trouble shooter and it said problems installing recent updates.
then I run sfc /scannow and that said no issues found, and when trying to install dell system detect and
dell support assist unable to install system needs reformat.
I will have to down load a copy of windows 7 home premium we do not have a disc with it on.
where can I get the instructions from for do a system reformat and installing dell support assist.

Dell Vostro 3360 forgotten BIOS password
Hello,
I've forgotten my Vostro 3360's BIOS password. I've contacted Dell support, provided them with proof of purchase (scanned invoice), photos of the tags on the bottom of the laptop, screenshots of the password-entry screen (with 'Unlock key hint number') and the final Error - System locked + code screen. They gave me a password -- that does not work. Told me to try with an external keyboard, make sure I got the case of letters right, no Num-lock should be on, I should try entering the code with Enter, Ctrl+Enter, Shift+Enter. Nothing works. Is there anything more I can try? They said they cannot generate me another password, and as I'm out of warranty, I should get a quote from a Dell service centre. If a motherboard replacement is the fix, I might as well sell the computer as parts :-(
