Laptop is not turning on

Hi, i have been using Dell Inspiron 3000 series laptop for past one year. While using , suddenly my laptop got off and it not turning on again and also charger indicator is not blinking even if i connect charger....


I have tried the solutions posted in blog i.e removing battery and holding power button for 30 seconds and turning laptop on, but it doesnt work in my case... also there is no beep sound encountered in my laptop.....

Plz give some suggestions for it.... it an emergency...

Bitlocker auto-enabling itself on a fresh Windows installation on XPS 13?

I've just got a new Dell XPS 9360. Obviously the system installed by default was full of crapware, so I traditionally re-partitioned the drive and installed Windows 10 Creators Update manually.

Surprisingly I noticed that both my partitions were being decrypted the moment Windows started up for the first time. I tried to disable Bitlocker encryption from the Above screen in Settings but failed as it has already started. OK, I allowed it to complete and turned it then off.

However, it kept bothering me why it happened at all. So I reinstalled Windows again from the scratch once again just to see if it repeats. Well, it did partly - the 2nd partition was left with Bitlocker off, but the system partition was again being automatically encrypted!

Do you know why it happens? It never happened before on any Windows 10 version - I always could choose if I want to use Bitlocker or not. I've also installed the same Windows version on some cheaper machine (Dell Inspiron 5567) and drivers didn't get automatically encrypted there.

Can it be anything specific for Dell? Any way to get rid of this?

when I start my laptop, it displays the message "Internal hard disk drive not found to resolve this issue, try to reseat the drive.

No bootable devices - - strike F1 to retry boot, F2 enter setup menu, F5 enter PSA."  What do I do please.

Inspiron 3521 touchscreen suddenly stopped working but not seeing any fixes from Dell?

Hey, I have a Inspiron 15 3521 running windows 8.1 and touch screen just stopped working.  I tried updating drivers and downgrading drivers but no luck.  Tried Windows 10 but no change.  Tried adjusting power mgmt. settings and no change.  It seems like it is not detecting the touch screen and HID is hidden so no option it enable or disable.  Diagnostic does not see the device so does not attempt to run.

There are tons of posts on this issue but I can't find any resolution.  Can anyone provide a fix?  A touch screen generally shouldn't just stop working and with all the issues I am thinking it is some sort of Dell or hardware issue?

Please help.

Dell XPS 13 L322x white/stripey screen

Hi,

The screen on my xps 13 l322x went black during use, after reboot all i get is a white screen during boot, no dell logo, then a screen full of tiny strips of various shades of colour. I can still log into the OS but cant see anything but stripes. Is this likely to need a new screen,  just a new lcd ribbon cable, or is some part of the motherboard faulty.

I bought this laptop -new- (Inspiron 5555) from HHGregg (a mistake, because they are not in my area anymore so I cannot return it).
A few weeks after buying it, with normal usage, normal charging, the battery STOPPED charging.
I have read many forum posts and seen that this is a common issue with DELL. 
I read some forums that said buying a new charger would work, as the battery test in BIOS says that the Battery is performing as normal, as well as running my own Battery test (also normal).
This worked for a few days, and then went back to normal.

I read another forum post that says to go into your BIOS and change the charging setting from Adaptive to Standard. I did this, and it did not work, as well as changing it to all the other charging settings just to see it that made a difference.

I cannot update the BIOS, even if there is one, which I dont think there is, because my battery wont charge to 10%. I am stuck on 0%. So even if I wanted to unplug it to move to my desk from the couch I could not. 

I have screenshots of Dell Power Manager telling me that the power adapter cannot be determined, even says this with the ORIGINAL charger. - and the "Plugged in, not charging" warning down in the bottom right taskbar.

Bought this not too long ago, only a few months, cannot return, and can't afford to just go out and spend another $600-$1000 on another laptop at the moment.
Many people said NOT to send it in to Dell because they will replace the motherboard/battery and say it is fixed when it is not. 
Not sure what to do, so I am creating my own post.

Dell XPS 15 9550 - Raised Trackpad Battery Swelling

Hello,

So a couple of days ago I noticed that my trackpad was begining to raise up off my laptop. Some quick google searches indicate that this is due to a known issue of the battery swelling. I purchased the computer 1.5 years ago and it is no longer under warranty. Additionally, it looks like the battery for this laptop has been discontinued. 

As this laptop was billed as a premium product, I'm concerned by this issue and I refuse to have to buy a new laptop when this one is less than 2 years old. What is the process to get a replacement battery for the XPS 15 9550? As of now it is dangerous and a potential fire hazard if the battery continues to swell.

Seems the screen has a short.  When I open the screen I often have to jiggle it a bit to get the screen in the exact spot where it comes on.  I suspect I need to replace the screen, or the connector.  I was looking on the Dell site for parts but cannot seem to find any that I can purchase for the screen.  Can you direct me to where I can get the part(s) I need?  Thank you

Hi,

Yesterday, I bought a replacement battery from a local vendor for my dell inspiron 15 3537 laptop.

The new battery is 6cell, 11.1 V, 440 mAh and 65 Wh battery. The original battery which came with laptop was 4 cell(aprox), 14.8V, 40Wh battery.

I have been looking over the internet to cure my obsession that the new battery may damage the laptop internal circuitry. I found some reasonable answers. Still, I want to get feedback from dell community about this issue.?

What dell recommends for replacing batteries and what to do if the same battery specs are not available? Also, What are the operational Voltage range for dell laptops for 3537 series?

Any help would be appreciated.

1) Even if no other problems, the solid touchpad is an insurmountable problem.

It's a horrible idea (rather than having the left click and right click 2 separated pieces.

I'm CONSTANTLY getting the right click menu when I left click.

2) The other insurmountable problem is that pages - not just web pages, but text files also - will on their own rapidly scroll to the top or bottom of the page.

I spend a decent amount of time, when I am not undoing the unwated right clicks from the touchpad, re-scrolling to find my place.

Unbearable problem.

Thought perhaps a Firefox issue, but then when text files started doing it, I have to blame it on Dell. (Or Windows 10?).

3) Previous touchpads let me scroll using 1 finger, not requiring 2.

Also I was able to make a circular motion with 1 finger to scroll.

Not possible on this touchpad.

4) TV has only recognized the HDMI cable twice.

No response to my asking how to remedy this in this forum.

5) Several times I've gotten the message "Power surge on the USB port
Device.  Port needs more power than can be supplied."

This has occurred on all of the 3 ports.

One device which caused it is an external hard drive which I've used with other computers without having an issue.

The other device it occurred with multiple times their tech support person hadn't heard of this issue and I've never seen it mentioned in any forum.

6) Where are the Dell employee tech support people in the forum?

7) And trying to send this brought up another - IS IT REALLY NECESSARY TO SPEND 15 MINUTES LITERALLY WITH CAPTCHA'S TO POST HERE?


Is it really the job of the customers to help other customers with tech problems?


Why have a forum and not assign a tech person/persons to respond?


I appreciate all the response I have received but got no response to one issue of the HDMI cable. I appreciate one person volunteering to look into the scrolling but after a week or so nothing further.

Will try another company's computer. And will avoid solid touchpads, and check the touchpad options before purchasing.

Hello,

My Laptop, an Inspiron 5559 64 bit, running Windows 10, Version 1703, Build 15063.447. 

The only recent change, OS was upgraded to Windows 10 Creator several weeks ago. Overall there are no issues, as a matter of fact, I am using the Laptop composing my question.


However, after a period of inactivity, the Touchpad stops responding, frozen, in my estimating it goes to sleep and does not wake up. My trouble shooting efforts include, downloading and updating driver, to no avail. The only way to get back touchpad is to reboot.


Please note, touch screen services remain operational and responsive.


Any guidance troubleshooting the issue will be greatly appreciated.

I see that the connectors included are a large and small round type and my XPS uses USB type c to charge through.

Is it compatible and how do I connect it please?

Loud Beeping on startup

I have Dell 3542 . When I boot up my laptop it makes loud beeps of 5-5 counts and also my hdd short test is failing with error code 0142. I have tried re-installing OS and completely formatted hdd but problem remains.I don't know if beeps are related to hdd test fail. Also my caps lock led as well as Dvd-Cd disc reader led is not working . Can anyone help me?? Any help is appreciated.

Hi, whenever I open my laptop the plastic body around the left hinge pops up, if I pop it back in it just comes out again. Does anyone know how I can fix this or what has happened? Also, to give some context, I have had this laptop for 5 months and the issue has only just started to happen in the last two or three days. I use my laptop most days of the week for games and work. The picture below shows the problem I am having.
