Yeehaaaw,
i have several probs with my nice XPS 13 2in1.

1.) WK717 Keyboard falls in sleep after short inactivity and needs seconds to wake up

2.) Working with the keyboard intensive ends some but often times in system messages like "the strg button is pressed" or last pressed button like "k" is filling the screen with kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkks. But the button or key was only pressed once.

3.) WM527 Mouse sometimes get lost during work. 

4.) Docking station works fine until system inactivity. awaken the xps the screen is flickering. Disconnecting from docking station and reconnecting solves the problem.

5.) PN556W Pen until now ok.

Any fellow sufferer?

Hi,

My laptop, model Inspiron n5030 will no longer turn on after cutting the power while I was using the BIOS. To test a HDD,

I had opened the laptop up and changed the hard drive. The drive seemed non-functional, so I booted in the BIOS. I changed some settings and pulled out the power plug to restart the laptop. When I put the plug back in, the laptop would not start anymore. There is no fan noise, no backlight and no indicator lights at the bottom of the laptop to show that it is powered. The light on the block of the power cable is on though.

I tried all power configurations: with battery and cable, just cable, just battery. I tried taking out and plugging back in the keyboard to see if the power button was maybe not connecting. I tried putting all screws back in.

Would love some help with this,

I fully charged my one month old XPS 13 9360 to 100% two days ago.  I have not used it since this morning (two days later), and i noticed the battery has dropped to 86% over the two days while the laptop was completely powered off (unplugged).  is this normal?

i fully charged my one month old XPS 13 9360 two days ago and then powered it off and unplugged the AC adapter.  this morning when i powered it on it showed only 86% battery remaining.  so it drained 14% while it has been powered off in two days.  is this normal?  

i was on the phone call with Dell support just now and frankly it did not help me at all, he basically had me run battery test which it passed and check my bio version which is up to date, he then said this normal after put me on hold for 10 mins while checking his documented similar cases, saying while the system is off the battery is still working on supporting the hard drive (his words).  

i do have a question, i always leave my usb mouse adapter in the laptop while it's powered off, do you guys think it'd improve the drainage if i remove it whenever i power down the system?

my problem is that my laptop hasnt' turned on in a long time, but when i got it back like 3 days ago it turned on once and then it died   later on in the day it hasnt turned on since. i tried removing the battery and pressing the power button... i dont know what else to do i might just throw the laptop in the trash.

Hi. 

I have an Alienware 17 laptop bought in late 2014. A few days ago, even when plugged in, the laptop wouldn't charge anymore. I Googled around a bit and found out that one way of figuring out whether the battery might be the culprit, is to remove it, and then plug the laptop in. If the laptop then works, then indeed the battery needs replacing. 

Now that's exactly what the issue seemed to be. Here's the thing though; I play World of Warcraft on my machine and I always have it plugged in (if I don't, the battery drains within 30 minutes, so there's really no use). My fps usually sits around 30-40 on a 5 out of 10 graphics setting. Which I always found highly disappointing, considering I bought this laptop so I could play the game EASILY at full settings. 

However, now, having taken the battery out of the laptop and just running it on the power cable, I seem to be able to play World of Warcraft at 50-70 fps at a 10 out of 10 setting!

My question is; considering I always play with the power cord plugged in anyway, is there any downside to just not bother buying a new battery (which seems to be going for around 140 Euros) and thus having no battery in the machine, playing it just on the power plug? And I mean as in, can it be in any way detrimental for the computer; I don't really care having to be plugged in in order to be able to use it.

Hey Everyone,

I receive My XPS 13 2in1 I7 16GB 512GB on Tuesday and it made this sound on startup.  After a couple of days of use it was occurring 3-4 times per day.  I called Dell TS last night and all they did was update my Audio driver.   The sound has happened twice so far today.  The sound certainly does not seem to be coming from the speakers and has happened while the PC was being heavily used as well as sitting idle.  I have now contacted Dell for an exchange and the new PC is due in on the 10th of July.  If the replacement still has the same issue I will be returning the laptop.  I really do like this device and am not sure what else I would get if I have to choose.

Note:  if you do request an exchange and may want to return the replacement you must be within 30days of the original invoice date, not 30days of receiving the new device.  In my opinion, that's complete *** but, whatever.  just thought I would share.

It was fine until today and now what is happening is whenever I press the power button it doesn't start ,I have to remove the battery n plug it in a coup of times then it starts to function properly ,the battery is probably functioning properly because I shows the same charged percent as it was before shutting down ,what might be the problemand pls suggest solutions , thanks

Last week, i purchased the XPS 13 9360 with 16 ram, 512 ssd and of course QHD screen.

I was between this particular model and a Macbook Pro with the touchbar, but being a Macbook user for 7-8 years, i wanted to test something new, thats the reason i bought the XPS.

After couple days i figured out that the screen was randomly flicker. I downloaded Dell Command | Update, downloaded everything, upgraded the BIOS, Chipset, etc etc. Nothing fixed the issue. 

That was not all, suddenly i hear some noise, like electric static buzzing noise coming out from behind the keyboard (the area was around the numbers 1 and 7)

I have tried everything, boot  in safe mode and remove drivers, re install, download everything new, nothing got fixed. Is there any solution yet? I hope i wont regret not getting a Macbook :@

I bought Vostro 5470 with core i7 and facing different problems and one of the major one is error in keyboard (number 9) that results in writing of 9 on its own and the computer is held as long as the number is being written in its own. Sometimes it stops autmatically and then pointer starts working.

If I want to write something or want to search number 9 is written itself and it continues ad such.

Facing immense problem due to this.. Probably I have to replace whole keyboard but i am affraid if the priblem will still prevail.

I keep getting an information message, 

The start type of the Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service service was changed from auto start to demand start.

My notification area on my taskbar is flashing continually, and sometimes I get weird flashes on the screen.

I've tried to disable the service, and it won't.  Is anyone able to help?

Hi,

I have been experiencing very frequent mouse and keyboard problems since I bought my new DELL Inspiron 13 5000 series (3 days ago).The mouse would randomly stop responding to right or left clicks. Also keyboard sometimes when I click on numbers it behaves as If I clicked Enter or ESC..... and this happens inside applications text fields, If I open notepad and type, it is fine...

I tried to plug external mouse, and disabled touch pad still the same behavior, maybe driver or windows issue?

I'm running WIN 10 Home.

I have a perfectly fine inspiron 17r. However, the battery will not hold a charge.

Dell no longer sells replacement batteries, so I purchased one online. Generic.

It is 86% charged, but the computer will not work. It died.  The seller says it is fine, but I may have to clear something. 

If Dell isn't going to sell replacement batteries, I think it fair that they help get other batteries to work.  Any instructions for windows 10 would be greatly appreciated!!! Help!

Using Wireless keyboard with XPS 13 / Windows 10. Periodically, keyboard freezes up. Starts with Backspace / Delete keys...then dies altogether.

Hello, since the last Windows update the touch screen on my laptop is not working.

If i go to 'calibrate the screen for pen or touch input', all options are greyed out.

If I go to the Device manager, it says all drivers are up to date. Under Human interface Devices, there are 30-some things listed - I right-clicked them all and hit update driver...  they all say they are up to date. Which of the 30-some listed is for the touch screen?

I tried downloading a driver in Dell downloads but it requires a password to unzip.

Any ideas?

Hey,

I'm using XPS 13 with TB15 and nothing helps. I keep getting an unstable connection with the dock.I've read all the support articles on TB15, I've updated the latest BIOS and the latest Drivers for both the Docking and the Laptop but NOTHING.

From time to time my XPS15 can't get access to the Internet while the wifi is still in connection, I try to ping my router(192.168.1.1) and got time-out, but my other devices are working fine with router, reconnecting XPS15 to the router does work but soon it will loss access again.

I check online and find that it might be the problem of my killer wireless 1535's driver, then I download the latest killer wireless driver version 1.1.70.1349_A04 from dell's web. After installing and windows reboot the problem still occur, and when I try to install the same driver install exe it says "An older version of this product was detected, Do you want to upgrade", but I check windows app find the killer wireless suite's version is exactly 1.1.70.1349, and no matter how many times I install the driver it always detect an old version.

Is there any other actions that the driver installation will take after windows reboot, cause after reboot I didn't see any pop-up, and I can't decide whether the installation completely successful.

How does it happen? And how to fix the wifi connection problem?

Hi, i have been using dell laptop inspiron 15  3000 series. Suddenly its gets turned off while using.

I followed the steps prescribed by dell on laptop turning off issue, i.e holding power button for 30 secs then turn on laptop. But its doesnt work for my laptop. And also when i connect my charger to my laptop, there is no charging indicator is blinking in my laptop also there s no beep sounds which i observed.

Plz, give any suggestions for this issue. Its an emergency......

I have an ancient Dell Inspiron 710M which is still running. I want to hang onto it as I have some applications which will not run on Windows 10. I hear a lot of stories about failing lithium batteries causing fires. I guess batteries like most things break down over time. The battery only runs the laptop for ~15 minutes. Can I please seek some advice on whether the lithium battery is safe to continue using or should I dispose of the battery to be safe?
