I don't know if there is anything anyone here can do to help me, I just needed to vent on this labtop.

This should be a high quality labtop, within the first year, my touch screen and battery went bad. Within six more months, my hard drive, the replacement battery and my hdmi port went out.

Dell should be ashamed of themselves for not providing a better labtop for so expensive of a price tag. Very very very disappointing. I encourage everyone to shop somewhere else.

Even the replacement battery, which since it went bad in seven months (new battery warranties are a year) I thought it would be covered.... nope.

Horrible experience.

I need to replacement my hard drive on my dell xps 15 L521x. I do not care about the files that are currently on it, but was wondering once I replace it will I need to reimage the whole computer, install a new windows operating system, or will it run perfectly once a new one is put in its place?

Latitude 5440 performance issues

I hope someone can help assist. Our IT department has seen an increase in calls about the Latitude 5440. Our users are reporting that it can take up to 20 min. to go from power on to being able to sign into Outlook. We noticed that it was also taking a long time to connect to our wireless network. We have done the following to troubleshoot the device and believe that it may be a driver issue:

Ran pre-boot diagnostics
Imaged the devices using SCCM
Imaged the devices using the OEM
Updated all drivers and flashed BIOS
Removed all non Microsoft and Dell processes from startup
Disabled wireless to see if the results were the same when on a wired network, they were.
Logged in as a different user to duplicate the issue.
Restarted the device in safe mode, where we did not experience any issues with booting and connecting to the network. (This is why we believe that it may be a driver issue.)

If someone knows what the issue could be or how to test if it is a bad driver, please let me know.

I had the same problem. I replaced the AC adapter and the problem is gone. Also, I was getting unknown AC adapter on my BIOS which is another reason for faulty adapter. I explained it more in my blog, roveno.wordpress.com/.../

Support assist.tell me of an updated wifi driver recomended for installation. I click on it &

it proceds thru install.then says install complete.. However when I check device manager it still list the old driver What happened to the completed installed.

I repeated procedure several times and rebooted after each one.

Old Driver Intel dualband wireless AC3160 Version 18.33.7.2

New driver Intel AC 3160 Version 19.60.0.7

Win. 10 system I checked downloas,documents ,pictures & can,t find. Where did it go?

Dell Latitude E5480 and MDT

Hi All:

We are trying to PXE boot our Dell E5480s (out of the box) to our MDT Server but they are just timing out.

We are trying to PXE boot with Boot mode set to UEFI and Secure Boot on. We were able to get one of our E5480s to do it and it can keep doing it, but we can't replicate it to any other of our E5480s? And not sure what we did to get it working?!?!

We confirmed they are all the same (as far as we know):

on the same BIOS 1.3.3

UEFI Network Stack enabled, and enabled w/PXE

But the laptops just time out when it is trying to PXE over IPv4.

But we can always get the one good E5480 laptop to get the NBP file and it gets in, we even tried using the same port/ethernet cable as the good Client/E5480 used but still no joy?

Any thoughts?

Odd Smell from newly bought Dell 7559

Hello! Its my first day with Dell 7559 (core i7, 1080p). However, I can smell a burning like smell when sniffing from close. Everything else seems to be working fine. CPU temperature is around 43C-50C with 7-8 chrome tabs opened. I am far away from US, should I be worried about this smell or it is expected to go away on its own?

I just got an xps15 inch 9650 with the intel Nvidea GTX 1050 4gb video card, I have done all the windows updates and the dell support assistant to update drivers and optimize the system, i also ran the nvidea software and chose for it to search and update the drivers for the video card. rebooted a few times during the process, the computer seems to run ok but when I go to youtube to watch some sample demo 4k footage to take advantage of this awesome screen even if

I saw too in my system specs there is a intel 630 card in this as well assuming thats on the motherboard? Do I need to tell the computer which video card to use? Is there someting I need to set in the bios, is it maybe just youtube, maybe i can find some 4k video to download to the desktop to check out the new higher res screen?

Mine came from amazon new but has a scratch on the bottom and like 3 minor nicks on the outter edges of the aluminum so i certainly wonder if it was a refurb or return, but at this point I can deal with that if I can get video to playback smoothly.

I am trying to figure out how to configure my 9365 to wake on either tapping the keyboard or opening the lid. Right now I have to hold the power button for ~10s to have it wake from "suspend to idle".

I am running Ubuntu Linux 17.03 and have tried a variety of 4.11 and 4.12 kernels, no luck yet.

Has anyone had success doing this in any environment? I am wondering if it's a Linux specific issue.

I looked through the BIOS options and didn't see anything that would help. I am on the latest bios, 1.0.15

The main problem is that is dangerous and toxic and the battery are indeed defective.

I had other brand of notebook (more than 2) ask me for battery change for free after 5 years from acquiring the pc and completely out of the normal warranty.

Why Dell doesn't mind about their notebook users at all?

Why they cannot change a battery also if i'm willing to pay some money ( for a service that as been done from other brands and have to be done FOR FREE as it is a product defect )

Hi - I recently received my Dell Precision 7720 laptop, While I thought I ordered it with a backlit keyboard - it did not arrive with one (I messed up on the custom config). It seems like a fairly easy remove and replace according to the manual.

Does anyone know the part number for a backlit keyboard for this model? Will a part from a 7710 fit this model?

We just recently purchased a new computer but am struggling to get our printer installed. My printer works on my desktop ( I work from home so yes I have a desktop). The printer also works with our other laptop via USB. Something happened sometime back that disrupted our Wi-Fi connection so I just never got it back up and running. Anyway, we have this brand new laptop. I have been on the Support website and downloaded the drivers. save the files to the computer , unzipped them and executed the setup. The printer shows on my computer but it still says the drivers are missing. It doesn't work hooking it up to the USB port etc....

I am ready to send my new computer back...so frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Dell,

I'd like to know why my pc don't ever boost to 3.8ghz no matter how hard I try, I just checked your website and intel's specification for this processor and it says that when using 1 core it would be able to boost to 3.8ghz, but during several tests the maximum I was able to reach was 3.6ghz ocassionally and constantly 3.5ghz with only 1 core, using all 4 cores/8threads I have sustained 3.4ghz (which is nice) but I feel that for a lot of applications like adobe suite softwares that depends on single core performance to apply filters this reduction of frequency can negatively affect my performance.

Beside this, all drivers are up to date according to dell.com website.

So my while using my dell the screen froze so I restarted it. Then when it loaded up the wifi icon at the bottom right was gone and now I have no wifi. To combat that issue I tried troubleshooting, but was met by diagnostic policy service is not on. I tried turning it on and was met by error 5, access denied. So I went to control panel and where it usually shows my network it says unknown, and "the dependency service of group has failed to start". Then I noticed my firewall was off. Also a long standing issue is that my audio only works with headphones. I think they all contribute to the same issue. My computer is expensive and I've been searching for hours for a fix. It won't let me access the startup menu and I can't restor to factory settings. After the latest restart Microsoft .net framework error opened up with the error 0x80004005 There were no external causes and this avalanche started after the first restart. How do I fix this?

I am using Dell N5050 with Windows 7. It has been working fine. Lately, I am facing a problem : when I press the button to turn it on it starts beep sounds...beeps two three times and then boots up fine and works fine. Just worried why does it beep? Any solution?

My laptop is experiencing 2 issues:

1. The battery is not charging, I've diagnosed this with help from Dell support, that the AC cable that plugs directly into the port is damaged and a replacement has been ordered, i list the issue in the event that it holds relevance or possible to cause to the second issue.

2. The battery is shown as disconnected, strange as i can have my laptop on as long as it has the charger plugged into it feeding at power, although it still will not charge. The Battery indicator light on the external bottom left part of the laptop, left from the touch pad, blinks orange then white, shuts off, and then repeats the cycle. Also a notification window pops up on screen stating: " Your battery is temporarily disabled. Please turn off your computer and try again when the unit is back to operational temperature, although the laptop is not hot, only mildly warm, seemingly standard operating temperature.

Im not sure if the first issue has relevance to the second, i would think it does but I'm not certain. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.

When I put my PC to sleep and awake it the wireless is unable to detect a network. I have tried turning my wifi on and off, but this does not work. I have to restart my comp everytime to get it to find networks. Has anyone encountered this issue? My BIOS is up to date.

Laptop is self re booting itself

My dell inspiron 15 3542 suddenly logged out itself one day while i was working and then screen went off , then came again and then again went off..this happened for around 5 to 6 times later i directly switched off the laptop and reinserted the battery in the hope that it wud work but no it didnt. When i switched on my laptop it showed dell logo , that bar underneath reached full blue and then the system went off and the screen black. I again tried later after a few hours , this time i tried pressing f12 in order to run diagnostics but system just shuts down after dell logo and wont go any further. Rightnow i when tried again its is doing it over and over again..it starts, shows dell logo and then operating system shuts down and this is happening in loop repetitively without me touching any key. Please help as i have really important project to complete.
