Im about at my wits end- this dang thing is a pain in the backside when trying to play games or use other software because bith the trackpad and mouse are operating at the same time. I have literally tried everything- turning off in Dell utility, turning off in Windows, Disabling in device manager, deleting drivers, you name it, it will not turn off at all. Any advice?

Customizing the shortcut buttons on Inspiron n5110
I'm having problems with the three shortcut buttons above the keyboard that are supposed (in theory) to open the Windows Mobility Center, the Dell Support website and to turn off the screen. The problem is that only the first one works properly the other two just flashing lights and doing nothing. I'm particularly interested in:
First making the screen thingy work because it's useful when using external monitors.
And secondly, a way to customize the buttons with functions of my own will.

Latitude E6530 graphics card problem
I have a Latitude E6530 with NVS 5200M. It connect to a Samsung SA850 27" monitor through the hdmi port (with a hdmi to dvi adapter). The monitor supports 2560x1440 but the 5200m card can only set the resolution to 1920x1080. In windows 8, all text on the 27" monitor looks a bit blurry. Is there anyway to set the resolution to 2560x1440 on the monitor?
Btw, NVS 5200M should have a mini display port. But i can find it on the laptop. Anyone knows where it is?

Dell Inspiron 15 7000(7537) WiFi issue
Hi,
I purchased the dell inspiron 7000 laptop last week. It has some issues with wifi connectivity.. Though it gets connected, we can see the signal bar fluctuating randomly and the speed of the interent connection is very slow. I am using the same connection for my phone and also checked it with other laptops and the wifi connection seems to have no problem. The download speed on the laptop shows 0.50mbps, while the download speed on another laptop connected to the same connection at the same time and spot shows 6.8mbps.
I have reported the issue the very next day of my purchase, so far I have not obtained any help from the dell customer support. Finally two days back I got a mail stating that there will be a service engineer visiting me in 2-3 working days. But ironically today I get a call form the customer support and they said the person wont be coming for the next week or so as they do not have the parts available.
Why would you want to change the part of a brand new laptop which is not even two weeks old????Is this a known issue for this model??

XPS 14 L421x won't pass the dell logo screen (no ambar light)
Hi, I just bought two XPS 14 L421x ultrabooks, after starting them for the first time a filling all the info for Windows 8 I got the laptop working, did nothing much but just look at the windows 8 mainscreen and powered off. The day after I when I turned them on (one is mine and the other is my wife's laptop) the light up (keyboard), get the white light in front (below the mousepad) and the dell logo on the screen and that's it, nothing else happens. And ran the diagnostics tool (F12) on both and the results is 0 errors, everything is ok. I loaded the optimized setting on the bios. Still the same on both laptops. I'm sending them back to Dell, this is a joke. Unless there is a solution I can do myself.

Problem Insipron 7010 doesn't jams while turning on
Hey folks,
Ive got a problem with my Dell Inspiron 7010.. Which was working just fine, until now.
When i try to turn it on, it will start but it remains on the windows logo loading screen..
If i try to install windows (both vista and 7) the laptop will start doing that but it just doesn't finish.. (so it jams)
I got the windows installation cd and all the drivers, so if anyone can help me...?! I would really appreciate it :)

My Dell License Authentication Failed?
After doing system restore on my brand new laptop, I have not been able to access My Dell. A pop appears saying "License Authentication Failed - This version of My Dell is not licensed to run on this system." I have tried googling the problem, but have not found any solutions. Talked to a support on the phone but they were only willing to help if I purchased their one year system warranty for over 200 which is ridiculous...
How would I go about accessing My Dell again so i don't face this problem? I have an Inspiron 15z touch screen running on Windows 8.

Laptop not fully turning off
There are a few things that a starting to get annoying with my lapytop:
Windows will shutdown but the laptop will have a black dim lit screen and power button lit, with the fan going, so i have to hold down the power button, (which i know isnt good)
The multi-function track pad wont recognize mulitpul fingers like for scrolling, zooming ect.
The dell settings, maintances and sleep buttons when pressed will light up, but do nothing.
Any help on these problems would be appreciated

Inspiron wireless connectivity not working since dropped laptop
I dropped my Inspiron N5010 laptop. The repair shop had to replace the hard drive and install a new operating system. Now the wireless connection is not working (was working before) which basically makes a laptop worthless. Ethernet connectivity works. They said they can't fix it because the wireless card is in the motherboard. Although they are a reputable business I'm not sure if they just don't have experience with a Dell because they primarily service the brands they sell which is not Dell and want to know if I have any options.

Help! Power cord not charging Inspiron N5110
This laptop fell off a night stand and small pieces of black plastic came out of the power jack, with careful placement I was able to get the power cord to connect and keep the battery charged while I researched and ordered a new power jack.
I found a couple youtube videos showing how to replace the power jack so when it arrived I was ready. A day before I was planning on putting in the new jack I was adjusting the power cord in the hole and I heard a zap and pop and electrial sounds and after that no matter how I adjusted the power cord it would not make a connection to charge the battery.
I took out the battery just to be sure and it would not turn on with my power cord, I borrowed the power cord from my work Dell computer and it would not turn on my laptop either even though it works fine on my work laptop. So it is not the power cord itself. I followed the step by step instructions to relace the broken power jack the only thing I did not do was to remove the mother board competely, I was able to take a couple screws out and pull out the damaged power jack and replace it with my new one. I put it all back together and the cord has a nice snug connection but it is still not charging the battery.
What can I try next?

NO BOOT DEVICE FOUND.
I have a DELL Inspiron 15R Laptop since 6 months. When I was working on my laptop, suddenly all the programs froze and wouldn't react. For like 20 minutes I couldn't do anything on it, just swiping between the applications that were open. After that I just saw my background and an error. I clicked OK and since then I only saw a background. I restarted the laptop after a few minutes by pushing the power button. It started to make some strange noises and said I needed to reboot my system. I got a black screen with some text, that for me is incomprehensible. The last sentence is: "No boot device found. Press any key to reboot the machine." When I do that, it just restarts and I get the same screen over and over again.
What can I do about it?

Driver for smartcard reader (E6400)
Dear forum members,
I am a computer novice but I think I'm not dumb, so I have a concrete question about a driver for my Latitude E 6400.
There is a built-in smartcard reader (not the SD-cardreader) in this laptop, and I looked for a driver without any result. The reader is marked in the system with a exclamation mark, when it is activated by inserting a smart card in the slot, and the system tries to find a driver, but doesn't find any. So the reader does not work. Can anybody help me finding the correct driver for the reader?

Dell XPS 15 (L502X) laptop Windows 8.1 Quanta H.264 integrate webcam Problem
Hi,
I installed Windows 8.1 yesterday and after the installation I noticed that my camera wasn't working. The Skype and Camera apps don't recognize there's a camera. After seeing this I installed the Dell Webcam Centre, but it didn't recognize it as well. I tried uninstalling the drivers and installing them again. The drivers for the Quanta webcam apparently don't recognize Windows 8.1 (I got an error message saying that you must have Windows XP SP2 or above to install them) so I installed them in compatibility mode for Windows 7. Unfortunately that didn't work as well. And now in the Device Manager the integrated camera is missing when it was working before the installation. Any ideas on how to resolve the issue? Is it possible that it's a hardware issue, a loose cable in the camera docking station or it's some kind of incompatibility with Windows 8.1? Thanks for everything in advance.

Windows Vista Activation Issues
I recently had to reformat my laptop and since the laptop doesn't have the hard drive partitioned. So I pullout the discs that were sent to me by Dell and now I am getting an error message saying that Windows Vista has not been activated. I have searched and searched and for some strange reason I still can't find any help.
Since I have an Inspiron 9300 and it's quite old, I don't have warranty support anymore and if anyone can help me with this I will greatly appreciate it.

Inspiron 11 3000 and HDMI to VGA
Looking to connect my new Inspiron 11 3000 to my old projector. Projector had VGA but not HDMI. Laptop had HDMI out. From the looking I've been doing it appears some computers can use a simple HDMI to VGA cord with converter built it. Other computers appear to need to purchase a full converter box. Can anyone clarify for me if something like what is pictured here would work or if I need the more expensive seperate box converter. Thanks!

Keyboard issue on inspiron 15 windows 8
Hello, sometimes my keyboard acts as if I'm holding the control key. Like when I press "r" the "run" application will pop up, "w" will bring up settings, "t" will bring up my IE tabs, "f" will bring up files, and so on. And this happens outta nowhere and I don't know how to be able to type again. The only way I've been fixing it is my restarting it, but eventually it comes back. Anyone know of a solution or what causes this? Thanks in advance!!

O2Micro Memory Card Reader on Latitude with Windows 8.1
I have a Latitude E5520 and a Lattitude E5530, both have the O2Micro SD Memory Card Reader. The reader worked fine in Windows 8, but after installing the 8.1 update, the SD card reader does not work at all when inserting a memory card. There is no audible sound, no disk drive available in Windows Explorer, and in Device Manager, the O2 is not listed in "Storage Controllers" where it should be.
There are two versions of the driver that I've found online on the Dell site, but neither one solves the issue.
I found this workaround, but it's not a very good one:
- In Windows 8.1, press Start button and type fix devices, and click Find and fix problems with devices in the results list.
- Click Next and allow it to check for problems. It will come back with the option to enable the device Intel 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 6 - 1C1A or something similar
- Click Apply this fix
- When done, close the troubleshooter and open Windows Explorer, and you should see the card reader
- In Device Manager, you should see O2Micro Integrated MMC/SD controller and O2Micro Integrated MS/MSPRO controller
Now, here's the bad news - after you reboot, or even go into sleep and come back out, the card reader is gone, and you have to do these steps over again.
If anyone has a permanent fix, I would love to know what it is!

Has someone noticed ghost images (screen burn-in) on Dell XPS 12 Duo?
I recently noticed ghost images on my Dell XPS 12 Duo. If a bright image on dark background stays on the screen for a couple of minutes and then I switch to somewhat dark background I can clearly see the previous image on the screen for some time before it fades away. Once I noticed it I started spotting even more subtle ghost images. I even managed to capture it in a picture with a low-end digital camera - http://imgur.com/a/RIYff (notice the tray icons clearly seen in the Win 8 start screen and even the facebook ad is visible). It is far more clear when you look at the actual screen and not on a picture. I already arranged replacement laptop (as I had other issues with this one) but yesterday I read news about mass defects in Apple's Retina MacBooks ( http://www.ibtimes.com/print/macbook-pro-retina-display-problems-apple-faces-class-action-suit-ghosting-issue-1129939 ) with practically the same issue. Now I wonder if it is possible that all Dell XPS 12 Duo screens have this problem.
So anyone else seeing this on his machine?

inspiron 1720 will take one 2GB stick but not a second
i've done the research and found that i should be able to install 4 GB of ram.....after installing a pair of 2GB DDR2's, the laptop would not even start up. i then tried it with just one 2GB stick (in the top bay..under the keyboard) and one of the original 1GB sticks in the lower bay and it started right up...and recognized the new memory. its working with 3GB in it...but why can't i add 4?

Modem cd drive still shows in the my computer area
Hi....am using dell latitude E4300..running windows 8....i just purchase huawei E303 modem.....and i notice sum strange stuff on my latitude since i started using the modem...
1. after unplugging the modem,it would still be showing in MY COMPUTER area..
2. system refuse to shut down properly & would have to shut it down forcefully
3. no other removable device like flash drive would work on the usb port till i reboot the system......pls help...thanks
