Hi Friends,

I just bought a second hand Dell Latitude E6420 laptop in working condition. Not being from technical background and to struggle a bit. [;)]

Thought of upgrading it to Win 10 64bit (Clean Install) and it did without any issue.

Later was unable to get the required drivers for OS and the search began.

Had to search the Internet and Dell Support site for drivers and finally everything was in place.[H]

I have made a backup of drivers in ZIP format and shared the same for other members who wish to upgrade the OS to win10 and are facing difficulties in tracing the drivers.

The google drive link is in ZIP format and would require to be extracted first. It contains various folders which have the required .INF files. These are not executable program's and a user will need to manually divert the search drivers path to the extracted folders on their respective laptops.

Thanks for all the developers on Dell forums/Internet forums for their expertise.

Hello Dell community! I have recently purchased a Dell XPS 15 9560 and I have to say its a pretty cool computer, but I have ran into some issues which Ive seen mentioned on this site. One being the screen flickering. I mean the flickering isn't terrible but its definitely an issue that should be fixed.

However my issue I'd like to discuss on here is one I haven't read about. When doing my normal dead pixel test which I do with every new piece of technology I get that has a screen, I noticed that there were some very hard to notice black specs on the screen. At first I thought, "Hmmm this is a 4k screen so maybe this tiny spec is a dead pixel" since I mean its 4k right? The pixels should be extra tiny and hardly noticeable.

After noticing the first little spec, my tremendously lucky self found about a dozen more little specs around the screen. They specs are really hard to notice and I mean REALLY hard. I have to get about 4-5 inches from the screen to notice them but there are many there and its odd.

I didn't make this thread to complain or bash dell, I just want to know if anyone else is experiencing this issue? You can see them by opening a completely white screen and observing it closely.

I do a ton of photo editing and have not had the chance to do so yet on my new machine so I wouldn't be able to tell you guys if it affects it or not. Its more or less just a nuisance at best. I don't want to return the machine because I like it a lot however I will exchange it if this is an issue only with mine.

Let me know what you guys think and if you see the same results. 

SIDE NOTES:

-specs are dark

-barely noticeable

-when cursor is placed on them I can se the spec move from different angles (very slightly)

-there are at least 20 or more on the screen

We have a 3520 that began to give a 7 beep code at start up.

After reading info on this forum I ordered and replaced the mother board.

There is no indication of life now except for a small light on the front that flashes as you hit the power button.

Any ideas???

Hello,

Due to my own carelessness, I dropped my Inspiron 3521 model, resulting in the laptop hinges coming off and the screen smashing. It served me well as I had owned it for 3 years but because of my laziness, it is now contributing to the UK's e-waste reserves.

Anyway, I kept the battery and have purchased Dell's Inspiron 3000 model. WIll I be able to use the battery from the previous model on the new laptop ?

I am updating the HDD of my Inspiron 15R SE 7520 to an SSD and I wanted to update th OS to Windows 10 pro as well.

However, I am unsure whether it is compatible with my HW.

Should I order a copy of windows 8.1 pro, instead?

PS: Windows 10 Creators update is not being tested for the laptop, maybe it won't get installed automatically and I can keep on working without this specific update?

sorry for posting here, for some reason new post does not appear in the normal laptop forum!! Please change it places. 

So i have a inspiron dell.    it was bought with windows 8.0.  we upgraded to 8.1 then to 10.   I always order a recovery CD with every computer. Always. even if its already partitioned.  

The option to reinstall windoes from a partition is just disappeared.  reinstalling windows within the blue screen freezes at 61%. so i am using the cd recovery.  Tried booting through windoes recovery, it never lets me boot to cd.   so i boot through legacy and it does let me boot through cd using msdos.  except. i cant get anywhere.  i thought to download a USB boot image  but when i put in service tag number it says there is none for my computer.  This computer came with windows!    help

My $800 laptop was 2 months out of warranty and the motherboard failed, Dell refused to repair unless I paid $600 - I said I was good customer so in the circumstances they should supply at cost and I would fit myself, they responded with $500 - what would be the rough cost to produce this item ?

My dad gave me this laptop a while ago last year and recently i've been noticing a few spots where my hands rests. I might have not noticed them before but they are becoming very apparent. If anyone can give me advice on how to get rid of this it would help me so much!

My dad has gifted me this laptop a while back last year and recently, I've been noticing a few spots on the casing where my hands rest! It has become more apparent now and any help will be appreciated!

p.s., this is my first time handling a laptop with this type of casing so I'm not entirely sure how to clean it well! Any advice would be appreciated!

I have a Dell Precision 5520.   I am trying to PXE boot this off of the network and it does not connect.  We are trying to use SCCM (or now called Configuration Manager 2012) from Microsoft to drop an image onto these devices.

In the BIOS I have enabled Legacy Mode, I have enabled the Thunderbolt settings etc....  when I boot up and press F12 the following happens.

I get my boot option (boot from NIC).  I pick this.

It starts DHCP and it then prompts me with the second F12 (boot from network)   I press F12

It then gives me this error:

configuration manager is looking for policy' and then gives a pxe:mof exiting pxe rom error. 

So how do you PXE boot this device?   Thank you!!

I have a Dell E6400 XFR that was repeatedly crashing, so I decided just to swap out the motherboard. However, it continues to load in "manufacturing mode," and I have tried many times to hit F2 (and others) to enter BIOS and it won't do it. The Dell screen shows up for a fraction of a second before going to manufacturing mode.

The "manufacturing mode" page says to press Fn-X to get out of the menu, but pressing that combo doesn't do anything. It also states "the setup utility will launch the Service Tag installer," but that never happens either. It eventually boots into what appears to be Safe Mode, and obviously there's not a whole lot of function because I haven't been able to set up anything.

Any advice?

Hello all,

Is it possible to loosen or tighten the hinge on a Dell Inspiron 15 7559?

The hinges are currently way too tight and applying too much stress and torque on the LCD screen when opening.  The LCD has cracked in the lower right corner. just by opening the lid.  I took the bezel off and I can see a hex nut on the end of the hinge.  I tried to turn the nut using needle nose pliers but they just slip off.

According to the maintenance manual I have to remove many things just to access this hinge.  I feel I will have to do all this work just to access the hex nut with an actual wrench.

Is this going to work?  Is it worth the time?

Just got my new Dell Precision 5520. 32 GB RAM, Intel 7700, internal M.2 SSD 500, Hi-Res screen. I have a problem connecting an external Samsung T3 1 TB SSD. No matter if I connect to USB 3.0 or USB-C Port, the transfer speed to the SSD is only 34-38 MB/s. Even my older WD external USB 3.0 HD is about double as fast? The Samsung SSD works fine on another Laptop with USB 3.0, at about 260 MB/S speed. Windows 10 64 latest Update, and all available Dell Driver updates installed. Any idea how to improve? Manfred

So, my laptop's (Inspirion 13 inch 5378 2-in-1) screen fell off the other day, and I literally mean it just fell off. Not at the hinges, just the screen portion fell off from it's backing. Everything is still connected, so I pushed it back in and it still works fine, I can still use it as a touch screen and there's no cracks or any kind of damage, but it's also really loose and I have to hold the edges when closing it to keep it from falling out again. 

It's still under warranty so I know if I have to I could send it back, but I'd really rather just do it myself rather than waste who knows how much time since I know I'll have to mail it in for repairs. This won't be the first laptop I've had to fix on my own, not by a long shot, but it would be the first touch screen. I've found tutorials for older models and non-touch screens, but I'd really appreciate a step-by-step to get my screen secured again without using something like duct tape.

A few days ago, my Inspiron was plugged in. It would not charge, but as long as it was plugged in, it would stay on.  Now it won't. I plug it in, and the light that marks that it's charging turns on for a few seconds then turns off. The screen won't turn on at all. There are no beeps, no indication that anything is happening, aside from the light. I've tried a few different things in an attempt to fix it, to no avail. Is there any way to either turn it on or retrieve the info that's been stored on it?

So i've had my Dell Inspiron 7000 series for over a year and everything has been fine. All of a sudden today i have started getting the following message: 

"The AC power adaptor is not recognised. System performance will be impacted. Please connect the correct Dell AC power adaptor for best system operation."

Not sure why it has started saying this as i am using the same charger i have used for the past year. When i have it plugged in then i don't lose battery but i don't gain any - i will be on the same percentage an hour later if i have it plugged in. Soon as i unplug it i start losing what little battery i have left. 

Just wondered if there is a way to fix this, and if it was a problem with the laptop or the power adaptor. 

Any help is appreciated.

Can someone direct me to a phone number or email address I can contact Dell to have a technician come out and replace my 6 cell Battery to a 3 Cell Battery and install a second HD caddy?   Cant seem to find a contact number on there web page!

I tried to replace the cpu fan for my Dell precision M6700, with a new fan I bought on Amazon as my old fan is noisy and I noticed that the axis of my old fan seems loose. I have upgrade the Bios to A18 already. I have tried 2 new fans, the first one the fan didn't spin and the machine gave error message "CPU fan malfunction" and the test diagnostic result show cpu fan error code 2000-5011. Then I replace another new one, this time the new fan spin with an irregular pace and the test diagnostic result gave the 2000-5011 error code again!

Once I switch to my old noisy fan, it works just fine. Is there any solution for this? The first time I thought it was the fan that didn't work correctly, but I am doubtful that the second fan is a defected fan again.

I have a dell Inspiron 15 5558, it is not booting in, whenever I press the power button only the keyboard backlight turns on and nothing else happens, the screen will be blank and doesn't lights up.

I tried replacing the memory modules but it doesn't helps solving the problem. Sometimes after switching on and off for a number of times  the display turns on and functions properly u till it is switched off.

Please provide me with some solution.

My product is still under warranty (POW) will I be able to get a free service if any spare for the laptop has to be replaced.
