Hello,
Can I install m2000m nvidia quadro video card on m4600 workstation laptop?
m2000m is known to be compatible with m4800. It also fits 7510 laptop.
I wonder if I can use it for m4600....
Thanks in advance,

On a Precision 7510 - the following does not work. Has Dell Engineering solved the problem? Is there a solution - cannot use the NVMe drive at all. Had to install the OS on the SATA drive and skip access to the NVMe drive completely.
Windows 10 install with NVMe SSD and SATA drives
This article provides the information on "Installing Windows 10 on systems that contain both NVMe SSD and SATA storage options present".
Windows 10 Install Fails
The current Dell Windows 10 media will fail to install on systems that are configured with both Serial ATA (SATA) Hard Disk Drives (HDD)s and Non-Volatile Memory (NVMe) high performance Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) Solid State Drives (SSDs).
There is a incompatibility between the Current Windows 10 recovery environment (WinRE) storage drivers and the NVMe high performance SSD drivers when there is a combination of SSDs and HDDs on the same system.
NVMe SSD drives are available on select Dell systems such as:
⦁ OptiPlex 7440, 7040, 5040
⦁ Latitude E7470, E7270, E5270, E5470, E5570
⦁ Precision 3510, 5510, 7510, 7710
⦁ XPS 9350, 9550, 9250
⦁ Alienware X51, 15 R2, 13 R2
Note: As previously mentioned this issue and workaround is only valid for systems that have NVMe SSD AND SATA Storage Drives installed.
If you follow these steps and the system only has a SATA Drive present then turning off the device will result in no storage options being detected.
Workaround
The current workaround is to disable the SATA Storage device (HDD/SSD) in the system Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) before performing the Windows 10 install to the NVMe SSD from Dell media.
After disabling the SATA Storage Device, you also have to make sure the BIOS is setup correctly by following these Steps:
1. Enter the BIOS by pressing F2 multiple timnes while the Dell Logo is shown.
2. Navigate to Boot Sequence and set Boot List Option to UEFI
3. Navigate to SATA Operation and choose AHCI
4. In Advanced Boot Option you click on Enable Legacy Option ROMs
5. Set Secure Boot to Disable
Once the Windows installation is completed, the SATA Storage Device can be re-enabled without any issues and both the NVMe drive and the SATA drive(s) will function normally.
Dell Engineering is addressing this issue a fix will be incorporated to the next Dell Windows 10 media release.
after updating drivers online Windows Mobility Center button dose not function ?
thanks for your help

I want to buy a laptop used for business trip. It is just used for document, excel and some easy system. When back to office or home, I have desktop to work with, so the budget is about $400-$500. I found some options below:
It's a pity that there is no Dell brand in the list. Any recommendation about Dell with similar price and good performance?
Hi everyone,
This is not a question but a solution to, what seems to be, a common problem. My Precision 7510 laptop was having an annoying problem with the Touchpad where the mouse would freeze. It would freeze for a good 5-10 seconds. Sometimes, while frozen, the mouse would continue to move at a very slow rate in a particular direction while I waited for the freeze to end. If I used it later in the day, however, it would be completely fine. The following possible solutions were tried:
1) Update the device driver.
2) Update the BIOS.
3) Turn off the PointStick.
4) Turn off Touchpad Gestures.
5) Turn off Touchpad Touchguard.
6) Ran the Dell Diagnostics.
Nothing worked. There was also a possible connection mentioned between Google Chrome running and the Touchpad. It turns out that it was Google Chrome, but not from the browser running. It had to do with the background processes running. I ended up going into the Task Scheduler settings and stopping the Google Updater processes. Here are the steps on Windows 7:
1) Open Windows Control Panel.
2) Open Administrative Tools.
3) Open Task Scheduler.
4) Under Task Scheduler Library (Local), click on the title Task Scheduler Library.
5) Disable the following services:
GoogleUpdateTaskMachineCore
GoogleUpdateTaskMachineUA
6) Disable any other unnecessary background tasks.
After making this change, I am no longer seeing the frozen mouse and I've re-enabled all of the disabled Touchpad features. The mouse still locks up for small amounts of time while using Google Chrome but it's not happening for long periods of time. Dell should really look into this issue because it seems to happen to a lot of people. Good luck everyone!
Just got a new laptop and when I move it, specifically, when I pick it up off the desk, I hear a slight grinding noise. The HD is spinning and acting like a gyroscope at that point, but should I be hearing anything different when the the laptop is moved? Obviously concerned about something dragging along the surface of my HD. Have not yet done a HD test to determine bad sectors...
I have resurrected an oldish Latitude D620 which worked OK 6 months ago.
The CD-DVD drive no longer shows up in the hardware list and I can't find any drivers installed. I've downloaded the Dell search software but that didn't find the drive.
Any help welcome.

Can one upgrade RAM on the latest xps 15 laptop? (Or it is soldered like Apple laptops?)
I could see lowest priced XPS 15 with a HDD and a small ssd installed. Could I on a later date replace and upgrade to larger SSD myself?
Thanks in advance for your helpful information (in anticipation)

Hello,
Ever since I used Microsoft's MDT 2013 to install Windows 10 on this Inspiron 15R (5537), the laptop no longer successfully reboots.... It exits fine out of the current Windows 10 session, but never fully boots back up. All I get is a blackish screen in which keyboard\mouse inputs don't work. If I shut the laptop down all the way, it starts back up fine.... Device Manager doesn't show any missing drivers.
Anybody have an idea why this is happening?
Thanks!
Adrian
I got the error 0xc000000e when I try to reboot the dell latitude E6400 laptop. The I tried running the ePSA and the test error happened to be 2000-0411. However, when I unplug the battery the screen still is on and laptop continues its so called function.
Before this happened, I connected a HP charger to my battery by mistake and laptop was giving me power outage error due to the wrong adoptor/charger. Before I figured out it was the wrong charger, I had removed the main battery and put it back smoothly. after I noticed it's the wrong charger and connected the laptop to the right charger, it started charging but again started giving this 2000-0411 error constantly...
I appreciate your help in advance,
Roya
My Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series laptop crashes every time I use Firefox. Keep in mind, the laptop is brand new. I've also done a virus scan, but nothing came up.
Is there any way to fix this?
When I turn the power on the only thing I get is a series of three beeps (they repeated at least 10 times). Any help appreciated.

Hi,
I have an E6420 Laptop. It wouldn't boot today and I can't get windows recovery to boot either from the HDD or a USB drive. So I tried the Dell Diagnostics test from USB. I tried running the tests associated with OS won't Start. The following tests failed:
Interrupt Controller PIC Functionality Test Failed. Error code "4C00:0522". Msg "SYSTEM - The interrupt controller, or a device attached to it, is not working".
SATA Disk Read Test Failed. Error Code "0F00:0232". Msg "DISK_0 - Block 64382024: Timeout waiting for IRQ"
SATA Disk SMART Long Self Test Failed. Error Code "0F00:075D". Msg "DISK_0 - The self-test failed the read portion of the test".
SATA Disk Verify Test Failed. Error Code “0F00:1A32”. Msg “DISK_0 – Block 64382024: Timeout waiting for IRQ”
What do these mean? HDD failure, have to replace it?
Thanks,
Brent
My Inspiron 5559 came pre-installed with Windows 10 and a 1TB hard drive. I installed a Kingston SSD and a clean copy of Windows 7 Home Premium on the new drive. After installing all Windows 7 64-bit drivers from Dell's web page everything was great except that everything to do with USB 2.0 is missing from ...
Universal Serial Bus controllers
Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller
Intel USB 3.0 Root Hub
Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader
USB Mass Storage Device
In any typical Windows installation, this section lists several 'Generic USB Hub' and 'USB Root Hub' entries but I'm completely without them. Even Services is missing 'USB Safely Remove Assistant'
I suspect this is the reason Windows Backup and Restore is unable to see connected USB drive when I booted recovery DVD to perform a restore. No drive, no image found.
I'm at a loss as to what might have caused this. This is a fresh install and laptop is just a few months old.
Hi,
My Dell Inspiron 14 - 5000 series heats up after shut down and then it doesn't turn on by pressing the power bottom. In order to turn it on again, I have to press the power bottom for 12 seconds.
This is an intermitent problem, some times it happens others it shuts off normally and then turns on normally.
The configuration is WIN10 Pro 64bits, 8GB RAM, SDD 500 GB, BIOS v10.
Please some help.
Thanks,
Pablo.
I have purchased a 3521 laptop and now I have a problem with this device when I enter your support page to add the definition of the screen card appears to the definition of the Intel HD 4000 card but the screen card of the device is Intel HD 3000(Please visit the site to view this file)
Hello,
Yesterday I have bought new laptop (Dell Vostro 14 5468) and I have one issue.
I started game Dota 2 and my temperature raised up to ~75C and laptop upper part (near monitor) was heating so badly that I cannot even hold my fingers there. Also fan is working really loud.
Then I turn off the game, temperature drops to like ~40C in 2-3 minutes and everything is just fine again.
i5-7200U
GeForce 940MX
8GB RAM
Win 10 Pro 64 Bit
Should I be worried about that? Would cooling pad help me to stop heating so much? Can I call this "Overheating"? Maybe it's still in pre-work?
CPU usage is about 30-40% meanwhile GPU temperature is only 60C~.
Hi Friends,
I just bought a second hand Dell Latitude E6420 laptop in working condition. Not being from technical background and to struggle a bit. [;)]
Thought of upgrading it to Win 10 64bit (Clean Install) and it did without any issue.
Later was unable to get the required drivers for OS and the search began.
Had to search the Internet and Dell Support site for drivers and finally everything was in place.[H]
I have made a backup of drivers in ZIP format and shared the same for other members who wish to upgrade the OS to win10 and are facing difficulties in tracing the drivers.
The google drive link is in ZIP format and would require to be extracted first. It contains various folders which have the required .INF files. These are not executable program's and a user will need to manually divert the search drivers path to the extracted folders on their respective laptops.
Thanks for all the developers on Dell forums/Internet forums for their expertise.
Regards,
Mohseen.
