Had my XPS since January 2016 and all of a sudden my power adapter has stopped charging the battery. I can still use it when plugged in but it instantly dies when it is unplugged.
Is there any way to fix this?

Dell 1555 Not Starting Up
I have a Dell Studio 1555 Laptop. It has been more than 5 years old, yet it worked excellently till last week. Now the laptop has got switched off, and it never gets switched on. I have done some experiments and following are the results.
1. Observation: When laptop switch is pressed ON, I can see the side LED light getting on, hard disk starts to spin, DVD drive tries to rotate, but after that both hard disk and CD drive stops. But LED keeps being ON. No boot screen in all the cases. FAN doesnot rotate.
2. Experiment 1: I tried to remove the residual capacitance in the mother board and try to start-up. But same observation as point 1..
3. Experiment 2: I have opened up the laptop, seen that there was so much dust on the FAN outlet and all. Cleaned up everything. Added new Heat sink paste. Re-run the system. But when I try to switch on same observation as point 1
4. Experiment 3: I tried to start the Laptop now, without keeping any of the RAM modules. It is normally seen, if we switch ON laptop without RAM, it will continously BEEP. But in this laptop, there was no BEEP sound. Also switch on LED light getting on, hard disk starts to spin, DVD drive tries to rotate in this case also.
Please help me to resolve this issue.

HELP Inspiron N5010 hdd crashed. Need help,.

My Dell Laptop Inspiron N5010 HDD crashed and i had to replace it with another one. Though i am unable to find any recovery cd or web link to download Windows 7 again on it. It came with Windows 7 pre-installed. The sticker at the bottom having license key has also gone in time and i dont have the key. I do have the machine tag details and all.

Dell XPS 15 9560, Bsod, screen flick, freeze...
Hi,
Newly owner of a XPS 15 9560 (16go, 4k) since 4 weeks.
Even though my experience started with some regular freezes (computer freezes for 5 seconds, every 5~10 minutes) and had obvious screen flicker issues, I didn't worry more than that, I didn't use the laptop that much...
This week, I started to use it more intensively, and I had some BSOD : DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. As this occured each time I tried to connect to a WIFI network, I thought it was a driver issue related to the WIFI controller.
I replaced the existing driver with the one available on Killer Networking website (more up to date)
Once on Windows, I had another BSOD : PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
I decided to use Dell Update to update everyting needed, the diagnostic page listed 3 or 4 component : a chipset, Intel graphic card, and BIOS.
I did the update for all of the components, ending with the BIOS. Since, I have chained BSODs :
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
UNEXPECTED KERNEL MODE TRAP
KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
...
I tried to do Windows saving point restore, but it doesn't go to then end (I have a message telling Windows canno't restore file system)
I tried to do a reset of the OS, no success
Finally, I did a factory reset with the help of the Dell Utility tool.
And it's just getting worse and worse. I have BSODs or screen flickering and crashes, sometimes when I'm under Windows user login, sometimes even before.

Dell inspiron 15 7000 7559 Battery Extender (External battery pack)
Hello,
I've been looking around for a battery extender for an adapter with output 6.7A, 19.5Volts -- 130Watts.
No luck so far, as most of the items I found had max 5A output.
Does anyone know of a solution to carrying extra juice on the go for the inspiron 7559? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cannot find matching laptop battery for Inspiron 559
I have an inspiron 5559 laptop which is 1.4 years old. I have replaced my ram cards with HyperX 16Gb kit and then I realise fast battery draw. Anyway after 1 month from the upgrade battery status went excellent to normal. now its POOR. I want to buy a new battery. I couldnt find any original battery from local stores hence I live in Sri Lanka.
- Can anyone tell me what is the correct laptop battery for my laptop.?
- How to find it? and where?
- How can I know it is a genuine one when I'm buying it?
PS: many of the sites says it's Li-Ion battery but when I save the battery details of my system into html file it says Li-Po..

Inspiron 17R SE (7720) - Remap action of Equalizer button
Is there any way to use this button for something else than MaxxAudio EQ? It's one of the 3 additional QuickSet (?) buttons.
Not only there are better apps, but only one of the setups gives natural sound (Music) and changing doesn't help.
But that's not an issue here. I would love to use it to start any other app/script, but there is not mapping apps that support them and even if they could (like SharpKeys) the button is probably seen as unknown...
Anyone managed to do it? Or is it impossible?
And no, I don't mean Shortcut key as I know that it can be easily mapped to any action.

DELL E5550 battery question
Hi.
I've wanted to replace battery in my old Dell E5550 (Latitude 15 5000 Series (E5550/5550) September 2014-April 2015) to the new battery which is 62WHR (model number is 6MT4T).
Battery looks like new and arrived with hologram means its genuine.
But after installation it's not charging in the laptop and battery light indicator is blinking.
If I install my old battery (which is 51whr came with laptop) it works just fine, charges, etc.
I couldn't reflash BIOS when I'm on the new battery because it only has 7% left.
So I reflashed on my old battery, I'm on BIOS A14 (which is the latest I believe for my model).
Could this problem with charging be related that this type of battery is only supported in newer generation of E5550 (January 2015) laptops according to spec here 
?
Maybe there is some BIOS or something which might help in my case?

Dell latitude XPS 15 - Charging circuit failure
I have a dell XPS 15. It is a wonderful beast.
Recently, the laptop stopped running off of mains. It still runs off of battery. When I plug in the mains the charging light goes out, indicating a short. When the laptop is not running, the battery charges, the lights come on etc.
I am therefore fairly certain that the charging circuit has developed a short. I would like to replace this part. I am in South Africa. Where do I order a new charging circuit from? How long will it take to be delivered?

CPU change on latitude E6220
Hello all,
I have the following:
- Dell latitude E6220 with CPU i3-2310M
- Dell latitude E6230 with CPU i5-3340M
Both the CPUs have the socket FCBGA1023, FCPGA988
I'd like to know, first if is technically possible physically change/remove the CPU from those laptops, second If I can exchange the CPUs between the laptops so put the i5 on the E6220 and the i3 on the E6230.

Alienware 17 R4 Typing Issues
I just got my new Alienware Laptop yesterday and everything was working fine, but I started to notice when I was in a browser (Chrome) and trying to type something into a box, it would stop typing, and it looks like it was going away from the box. Then it would go back to it being highlighted. Also outside of a browser window, I would right click on the desktop, and the menu would come up, then it would disappear. I'm not sure what is going on with it, but the loading circle next to the mouse pointer comes up every few seconds. Sorry my description of the problem is a little weird, but I'm not sure how else to describe it! This is a Model AW17R4-7000SLV-PUS

New Inspiron 5000 Series Laptop Had To Be Recovered
Two months ago I bought an HP laptop. I used it for two weeks when the computer froze while I was on the Internet. I couldn't close the browser, minimize the browser, call up the Task Manager, or do anything with the computer. I had to shut it off with the on/off button. When I tried to turn on the computer, it froze at the startup screen, with the spinning dots and the HP logo. It would not load up at all.
It wound up that I had to recover the computer and return it to factory default. It took three hours to do. Mind you, this was a brand new computer.
I returned that computer and bought a Dell Inspiron 5000 series laptop. The computer was working well for three weeks when the exact same thing that happened to the HP laptop happened to my new Dell laptop. I again had to recover a brand new computer and return it to factory default and start all over setting up the Dell.
The HP had an Intel processor and the Dell has an AMD. Basically, the hardware in each laptop is different, so I cannot blame this coincidence on the hardware. I ran a diagnostic hardware check on each computer and both had passed that test. I can only guess that there is something wrong with the updated Windows 10 operating system that causes these new computers to essentially crash and have to be recovered and returned to factory default.
Has anyone else experienced such a strange problem? Is there another explanation for this coincidence? I keep my virus software up to date and consistently scan, so I don't think there is any cross contamination of a virus that I might have loaded onto each laptop.
I am confused.

Dell XPS 13 - Total power failure?
I have a Dell XP13 laptop that I purchased in January 2016. I use it for work travel only and have only used it very lightly since I got it. Today, I went to boot it up and got nothing so I assumed the power was dead. After having it plugged in for several hours, I tried to boot up again and still got nothing. The white power LED comes on for a second and goes out. I've tried two separate power cables so that is not the issue. Both are OEM cords from Dell and both have the lit led on their cord. They also work fine on a second XPS13.
I checked the warranty status on Dell's site and it looks like it expired February 2017. While I purchased it new in January '16, it says the start date was November 2015, so I supposed it was resold? This is quite disappointing as I've rarely used this laptop.
Will Dell repair this for me? Or is there anything I can do to try and fix it on my own? I was hoping to find an online chat with support but none of the links seem to work.

XPS 9360 Charger gets too hot
Hello,
I recently purchased my Dell XPS 9360 on 4/27/2017.
When charging, the AC adapter charger gets extremely hot. So hot that when I charge it, I am afraid to leave it plugged in without keeping an eye on it. It is too hot to the touch.
Do I need a new charger? I have seen similar complaints to this one on the forum as well. What is the issue? How can this problem be solved?
What are next steps?
