In the Inspiron 3520 the power cable connects to the motherboard via a small slot and is held in place by a plastic bit that is pulled up to release, and pushed down to secure said cable. In the process of upgrading the processor of this machine i broke and lost this little up-down, unlocking-locking piece. I have tried unsuccessfully to keep the power cable in the slot using electrical tape, and also by using a small plastic bit as a shim behind it. After several attempts i am still unable to start the machine in the usual manner. During these failed attempts at securing the cable i accidentally discovered that a small screwdriver inserted into the slot where the power cable is meant to reside will hot wire the machine on. I have replaced my keyboard and now do not reboot or shutdown. An iffy fix at best. I am looking for suggestions as to how i might secure the power cable onto the motherboard so that all works properly? Looks like the power connection is on one side only so some kind of shim behind the live side forcing it to connect seems logical, but hasn't worked for me so far. What am i missing here? Or should i buy a dead motherboard to get the missing piece that i don't even know can be put back in place? Solder it in place? Any suggestions much appreciated!

Dell Inspiron black screen with mouse cursor before login
I really need some help! My laptop was working fine yesterday but the other day I opened the laptop and before the accounts sections there was this black screen! SK Hynix PC300 PCIe NVMe Solid State Driver for Windows 10
I tryng to install Windows 10 Enterprise in a Laptop Alienware 17 R4 but when start the installation it miss the driver for the SSD SK Hynix PC300 PCIe NVMe.
I've looked for Dell Support page but i found only Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver and Management Console and the Firmware for SSD but no driver
There is a link where download that driver in order to provide it during the installation??

Version 1.13.3, 1.13.3 Bios for Latitude 5570 causing BITLOCKER issues
Imagining multiple laptops, yesterday bios Version 1.13.3, 1.13.3 came out. Started it into our rotation.
Afterwards bitlocker was no longer able to start "internal issue". Tried to revert back to old and still same issue even after re-image it. All TPM and secure boot options correct. Also have done: Imaged laptop, let bitlocker encrypt, suspended it, updated bios, after restart bitlocker didnt resume, tried to force it and prompted with internal error again.

9560 BIOS update version 1.2.4
DELL Support Update is recommending a BIOS update to version 1.2.4. I am a bit wary of this based on a couple of posters who have bricked their system updating the BIOS. Has anyone here successfully updated to this BIOS version? I don't like to ignore DELL's recommendation but I'm worried it might cause problems.

Inspiron 15 7559 Will NOT Power On
Hadn't used my laptop in about a week and when I turned it on, the keyboard lit up, Dell splash screen came on and the windows (10) icon showed up...then it just went dark. Pushing the power button again, the keyboard lit up and immediately shut down. I thought perhaps the battery was discharged, so plugged in the AC adaptor.....and although the adapter's blue light was glowing, the laptop's front-edge power-indicator light did NOT come on. The same problem reoccurred when attempting to start up. I have tried the various test methods mentioned on this site (including those done with the battery removed), to no avail. Again, Pushing the power-button causes it to light up and the keyboard to flash momentarily....and nothing else.
Any suggestions?

Brand New XPS 13 Overheating and Multiple other Problems
1) I received the new XPS 13 loaded with 16 GIG RAM and I-7 processor
2) The mousepad was faulty when I received it and became unusable
3) Dell sent a tech out to replace after a couple of weeks because the part was back-ordered
4) It worked for a few weeks
5) Then the speakers broke. Dell sent another Tech to replace the speakers
6) The mousepad started to fail again when the laptop heated-up, especially when I was in Excel or PowerPoint.
7) The laptop seriously heats-up. I run a software company so am pretty tech savvy. I actually fried an egg in 12 minutes when I put the egg in aluminum foil and sat it on the backside of the laptop. The fan does not always come-on when the laptop gets real hot
Can overheating cause all these problems? Thanks very much
BTW: On one of the many support calls with Dell techs, they uploaded the latest BIOS, checked all primary drivers

Just purchased the 7th gen i3 dell 13 inspiron 5378. It comes with 4gb of Micron branded ram and want to upgrade to get dual channel. only thing I can find is the crucial 4gb module but it seems to have different timings? will that matter?

Dell Latitude e7440's -warranty just expired and they are blowing up - no one cares at all that these are a safety risk
I have about 15 of the Dell e7440's just out of warranty and the batteries have expanded, popping out of the frame, about to burst and no one at Dell could care less. I spent an hour on the phone with Dell warranty support, Dell out of warranty support, Dell Federal warranty support, Dell in-warranty support and simply put Dell batteries have a one year warranty and even though we bought extended warranty's for 3 years that have expired, no one at Dell cares this is a safety issue.
My users can't go on a plane, a car, a train without worry and are totally spooked about the few batteries that still do fit (they are inflating by the week) may blow up or leak all over them. Even my new federal rep has no pull or seems to care about this huge safety issue. One year warranty on batteries, that is it. I am in the process of upgrading all of these users computers with new ones and have a bank of about 15 laptops now that are useless. Can you all say.. Hello HP !

Brand new Inspiron laptop black screen during setup
just bought a new laptop, got as far as the Windows "hello" feature and adding a PIN, walked away for a minute and the screen turned Black. I could still move the mouse pointer but could do nothing else. I then shut it off, held the power button on for about 10 secs and then the firmware started updating. Is this a concern or is it fairly common?

External Batteries - Laptop Recommendation
Hi:
I'm the slightly disappointed owner of an HP Spectre. Wonderful little laptop but I just found out today I cannot run the computer off an external battery. I'm a ham radio operator and I'd like to see if I can take a laptop out on some of my outings (SOTA, POTA, camping).
Can someone recommend a good, light weight laptop somewhat close in specs to an HP Spectre (T9Y18AV) that can accept an external battery pack? While you're at it, maybe you can suggest the battery pack to use. I'm hoping for someone with experience who might be able to tell me how much time I could expect out of an external pack.

Precision 7710 EGPU support
Hi!
Our corporation are running several lines of computers from Dell where as the Precision 7710 (soon to be 7720) is currently the "top of the line" laptop computer available for our employees.
Some of us are finding the Quadro cards installed limiting for certain tasks and I am currently researching the possibilities connecting an external egpu unit to the P7710 through the Thunderbolt 3 port.
The setup I have is, as mentioned, a P7710 connected to an Asus Rog XG Station 2 holding an Asus Strix Geforce GTX 1080 TI inside. It's not working. I spent the entire day reading forums and reddits, flashing bios and updating all drivers possible. I've also been tweaking and adjusting settings inside the BIOS ot get it working.
As far as I can tell the Thunderbolt firmware currently available to the P7710 is not supporting external GPUs. PD Firmware version is currently 16.00. Thunderbolt do recognize the external unit by name though.
Any help getting it working or notification on implementation progress is really appreciated!

I have been having issues with certain keys on my keyboard.
The period key has now become the function 10 key promoting the contextual menu to appear instead. The 3 key works as the backspace key. The 9 key and left shift key don't work at all.
I would appreciate any help to fix this issue.

Dell Inspiron N4050 Black Screen w/ movable Mouse Cursor before Login
How do I fix black screen with movable mouse cursor before login? Yesterday I was playing my Laptop without it's battery but the charger was connected when I was playing it was so hot for like 2 Hours, then the next day I opened my laptop and before the profiles section my screen was all black, the only thing that was there was the movable mouse cursor. I already tried Ctr+Alt+Del, Sticky Keys, Safe Mode, Start Up Repair etc. I really need some Ideas to fix my laptop ;-;

Dell Latitude E5440 and 50hz on Samsung U28E590D 2048 x 1152 (Intel 4400) Win 7
Hi,
Would be grateful if anyone can help with the following problem. I have a Samsung U28E590D 4K monitor and at 2048 x 1152 it will only run at 30hz under Windows 7 (both DP and HDMI) on the E5540. I have installed the latest Dell Intel 4400 drivers(will not allow non dell) and the latest monitor driver. Both the Windows resolution form and the Intel control panel only provide 29 and 30 hz options.
I know the video card should be able to drive this as it just works on another LG 34UC98W monitor at a higher res of 3440 x 1440 at 50hz.
In the Intel control panel -> advanced IT says the monitor does not support advanced settings.
So by running CustomModeApp, it shows nothing in the dropdown for the monitor when the U28E590D is connected as I was hoping I could enter the paramters for 2048 x 1152 @60 hz here.
Any pointers would be appreciated!

Dell XPS 15 9550 Very Slow Boot + 32GB SSD not detected
Dear Community,
I have an unexpected Blue Screen event and was ill-advised to immediately reinstall Windows 10 OS. I did successfully reinstall, but on Legacy BIOS. I decided to reinstall once more in UEFI - which i did using Diskpart - Convert GPT command. It was successful install - RAID, RST drivers, BIOS update and all drivers from Dell. I have two issues:
1. The 32 GB SSD is no longer detected by the RST console.
2. The laptop takes 3 minutes to boot - 2 minutes for Pre-Boot (Dell logo is plastered on Screen) and 1 minute for Windows to load.
Performance wise, I only noticed heat buildup on the general keyboard and left and right sides (where you rest your palms wen typing). I only use Word and Edge (no other application running).
Can anyone please direct me how to fix the two issues above?
