I need to replace chipped front glass on AIO Inspiron 2330

I have a Inspiron One 2330 that needs the needs the glass front replaced.  The glass is chipped around the edges.  I bought glass for that model on ebay.  I have been looking high and low on the internet for steps on how to replace it but I'm not finding anything specific on this.  I'm worried that I bought the part for nothing and that I'll will not be able to change out just the glass itself but I figured if they sell just the glass then I should be able to replace it.  Has anyone had to do this and do you have steps or insight on this.  Thanks in advance.

** RECOMMENDATIONS** Inspiron 15 5567 - "port replicator" or "docking station"

Just purchased three Inspiron 15 5567 laptops (i5 @ 2.5GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD) and one user is asking for a 'docking station' or 'port replicator' so he has a single connection to disconnect when he needs to move the laptop.

Presently, he has connected an HDMI monitor, the GB network connection, and three USB connections, which pretty much "maxxes him out" as regards external devices, and lends to his "confusion factor" when he needs to travel with the laptop.

As a relative 'novice' with a laptop (he previously had an OLD Optiplex GX280 Pentium-4 desktop), he is 'uncertain' about connections to externals so I suggested the 'dock' or 'port replicator' to address this.

Now I need help in determining what is "best" for this use: the Dell D3100 USB 3.0 dock or something different(?).  Unfortunately, I've read a few 'disheartening' reviews in regard to the D3100, but what might be a viable alternative? (bearing in mind that this has to be 'brain dead simple' for this user..)

So... Can anyone suggest alternatives, or give an 'unbiased' assessment of the D3100 dock station..?

Hi,

I recently bought an Inspiron 14 laptop model with 32GB eMMC Hard Drive. However when you go to the Laptop properties, the total memory reaches only 28 GB. With the basic softwares: Windows 10 + Microsoft Office + McAfee they occupy about 27 GB. Conclusion, my Inspiron is not working correctly because doesn´t have enough space in the Hard Drive.

I would like to know what would be the best solution to solve this issue. Is it possible to return the laptop to Dell to upgrade it for at least 500 GB Hard Drive?

Thank you in advance.

Latitude E5570 Battery Swap

I swapped the 84 Wh battery for a 62 Wh battery in order to install a 2-1/2" SSD. (The larger battery occupies the space for the SSD). When I booted the computer, it did not recognize the battery. A message popped up, asking whether a Service Tag having been done. The battery will not charge. Do I have to modify a setting in order for the system to recognize the smaller battery?

XPS 15 9560 very slow after sleep mode - stuck at low CPU clock speed

Bought a fully-loaded XPS 15 9560 about 3-4 weeks ago and am having issues w/ CPU clock speed, specifically after returning from sleep mode. It will get stuck at a particular ceiling and won't throttle higher, and performance is terrible. A reboot makes the problem go away. Frustrating, as I don't reboot often and like to keep applications running/open while working on several projects, simultaneously.

I'm having a hard time re-creating the issue consistently. It seems to happen most often when I let the PC sleep overnight and return to use it the next morning. I just tried triggering it by going into/back from sleep mode, both plugged and unplugged, and could not make it happen. I did have the problem this morning after leaving it in sleep overnight.

All drivers are up to date, as well as BIOS. I ran the full Dell Diagnostics and everything passed. No malware or viruses, and all unnecessary background services are disabled. It absolutely screams when running properly, after a reboot...no issues otherwise. I'd just prefer not to have to shut it down after every session.

Here's a good description, though I'm not able to re-create the issue the way this person was:

http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19660225

I contacted support but received a very Level 1 Support response (malware, too many background services, etc.) - nothing helpful yet. Will continue w/ them as well.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Dell Inspiron Gaming 5577 Random Restarts

WHY WAS THE ORIGINAL THREAD DELETED???????

Hi,

So I just got this laptop few days ago.

The basic specs:

  • 7th Generation Intel Core i5-7300HQ Quad Core (6MB Cache, up to 3.5 GHz)
  • GeForce GTX 1050 4GB GDDR5
  • 8GB 2400MHz DDR4
  • Windows 10 Home 64-bit English

The problem: It restarts randomly, no blue screen, no error messages. It just goes into the Restarting process, including the screen where it says "Restarting". Basically kicking me out while I was writing documents, editing images, nothing system intensive.

This is very troublesome since it's very unreliable.

  • It is not Windows Update because WU asks you beforehand and tells you after reboot that the system has been restarted,
  • I do not think it's the temperature because I have a monitoring software that says it's cool and a cooling pad as well.

What I did (Note: I already turned off Automatic restart in System before those restarts happened)

  • Checked Event Viewer nothing special, checked Reliability History, nothing special.
  • Did Dell BIOS(F12) comprehensive tests(3+ hours), Dell Assistant tests, memtest86, Prime95, Unengine Benchmark. Can't seem to replicate it.
  • Ran File System Checker, HDD bad sector scan, etc.
  • Finally Re-Imaged the PC using the provided Dell Tool and Image for this laptop. And still it's doing it...randomly.

Is there a program that closely monitors Windows 10 and actually tells you what's causing the restart? It seems Windows 10 is consciously doing this since it's actually Restarting the Laptop normally so it should have appended the reason why it's Restarting, somewhere, it's not a power failure where it just shuts down abruptly and doesn't leave a footprint.

Opened on MS forum as well, with a user also having these symptoms.

Dell Windows Recovery ISO Issues

Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to discuss this, but I've run into some issues with the Windows recovery image for a Dell Latitude E7450. Background information, the Windows install became corrupted along with the recovery partition, and the Dell recovery media (created previously) was unable to repair the install, so I found the recovery ISO on the Dell support site. However, after I imaged the ISO to a USB (using the Dell OS Recovery Tool) the installer took an extremely long time to boot, and hung at the "Windows is loading files" progress bar, the splash screen while booting, the "Setup is Loading" screen, and the "Expanding Files" part of the setup (it progressed 4% in about 8 hours). I tried a second USB and downloaded the ISO again, and tried booting both in UEFI and Legacy mode. However, when I attempted an install using the standard Microsoft Windows 7 Pro image, it progressed without any issues. (I was subsequently able to use the Dell recovery USB stick imaged with the ISO downloaded from the Dell support site to install over the Microsoft image). I was wondering if this is a known issue with the Dell Windows recovery ISO, or if there was a recent change to the ISO that could have caused this issue?

Battery not detected - Dell Latitude E6400 | Windows 7

I've had this laptop for about 3 or 4 years as a Christmas present; Probably should get around to getting a new one, but currently that's not gonna happen until the school year ends.

Around September the laptop stopped charging correctly until the I was forced to have the laptop plugged in at all times and if it came loose, the whole system would shut down. I've checked through various different sources before I actually just put the system down for good and get a new one. I've tried checking if it was the AC adapter itself, strangely it did the same on my current laptop and an old one. The charging symbol would just blink red but it was still powering the laptop, but not charging it. I tried checking if it was the drivers since recently I did a whole system restore with reinstalling windows 7, but no change.

Now I'm questioning if it's just the battery is full on dead along with the charger being burnt out. Could the problem be different than what I've found or should I get a new laptop altogether since buying both a new battery and AC adapter would be a waste when I can just get a new one with Windows 10.

Can I use Viper DDR3 1.35v memory in Dell Laptops

I have several new Dell laptops that explicitly say they take DDR3L 1.35V memory. - Latitude E6440, E5550, E3460...
I have Patriot Viper PV316G160LC9SK so-dimms that are 1.35V but say they are DDR3, not DDR3L.  Can I use the Viper memory in the  Dell Latitude computers?
Thanks,

Alienware 17 laptop FX lights

I have been browsing the forum looking for help but so far no luck. My Alienware 17 laptop FX lights no longer turn on. One morning around 2 weeks ago I turned the laptop like normal and this time the lights did not turn on.

I have tried reinstalling the Command Center but no change. I have updated my bios and no change. I  As far as I can tell all my drivers are up to date and there was no damage to the laptop during the night.

And if anyone things it was a power surge I have a surge protection power board that did not trip.

Can anyone give me some ideas on how to fix this? I followed the advice of Alienware-Alex from a different thread and that didnt help either.

"Alienware-Alex14-Jun-2016 08:28

Hello,

To get the lights working, go to the AlienFX taskbar icon and make sure these options are checked:

  • Dim Lighting Zones.
  • Keep Status Zones on During Go Dark.

Then you can try testing the AlienFX as it shows on this video.

If that does not help, you can remove and reinstall the Command Center:

  1. Uninstall the Alienware Command Center from your system. You can use Revo uninstaller.
  2. Uninstall the .NET Framework 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5.
  3. Restart the computer.
  4. Install the .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.5. You can get them from here.
  5. Download the latest Alienware Command Center from our website and install it.

Finally, make sure to update the system BIOS."

So, anyone got anything else?
