Dear Dell,
I have to say, I'm disappointed. I wished my Dell XPS 15 (9550) worked better. It's a powerful computer, but it feels like I'm just having problems, after problems, after problems...
I bought the computer at the start of 2016, just over a year ago, for over $2,500 (23.000 SEK). Since then I've had the "coil whine" problem, and the "hot bag" problem for several months. The computer would wake up by itself in my bag and get so hot that I couldn't even touch it! I've had the motherboard replaced TWICE.
I travel constantly and I work on my computer at least 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. My livelihood depends on it, and it's probably the most important thing that I own. Now, I'm half way across the world in Tokyo and I have problems again. This causes so much stress. Every day I think to myself, will my laptop stop working today.
When I charge my laptop the trackpad stops working. The battery swells and pushes against the trackpad (thanks to the reddit community for point this out). So, I called my Dell support back home and they said they can't do anything since I'm abroad. They gave me a local number to call. I call it and of course no one speaks English.
Honestly, it's crazy that a product that costs over $2,500 USD can't seem to offer a lifespan of more than a year. A one year warranty feels RIDICULOUS considering the amount of problems I've had. Plus, it seems like getting support internationally is out of the question.
I've used PCs my entire life, but honestly I'm considering changing to a different "brand" that seems to be able to offer high build quality and, if nothing else, offer support that's available worldwide. I just want a tool that works and gets the job done.
Honestly, what should I do? Please tell me. I'm traveling to a new country in 2 weeks.
PS: I have also emailed my local Dell support this same message and asked for further assistance.
