Dell Inspiron 15r 5520 Not turning on

$

I have a Dell Inspiron 15r 5520

It all started last Friday when the dreaded "Plugged in, not charging" happened. Little by little I had the laptop plugged in and eventually the computer just failed to work. I opened it up and pulled out the Ac/dc power jack and low and behold a port wire is broken, so I replaced it.

I also tried to turn it on after that, then I found out the Power Button was broken, so I replaced that.

After replacing all of that the Laptop refuses to turn on.

I do have a charger on the way and now I'm wandering: Should I have the charger plugged into the computer while I wait for the other one to show up, or should I keep it in and attempt to charge my battery?

My lights for anything will not turn on at all, so I'm also wandering if the motherboard is dead? It would be a shame if it is since I just purchased a replacement last summer.

Facts:

1. Charger stopped charging and became a plugged in not charging

2. Replaced Power Button and broken Ac/dc powerjack

3. Computer fails to turn on

4. No lights down at the 4 light panels even when charger is plugged in.

Thank you in advance if you are able to assist me in this issue.

Mine's a 2015 Dell XPS 2015 edition (9343) .

Everything seemed to be working just fine until the last month . The moment I try to pair a Bluetooth device ,  it gets disconnected the moment its successful ( the pairing) .

Also , any USB storage that I connect , the laptop somehow recognizes it as 'Local Drive G:' and I get the following message :

" G: is not accessible.

The Request is not supported "

Any suggestions as to what I should do ?

Touching the touchpad causes laptop to go to sleep!?! (Dell XPS 13 9343, Windows 8.1)

I'm having a very serious problem where the touchpad is no longer usable (this laptop is only 1.5 years old!) because any slight touch of it causes the laptop to instantly fall asleep - screen goes black, lights go out on keypad, have to wake it up again pressing enter or power button.  I have never seen anything like this in my life and it started suddenly today.  I now have no choice but to use an external mouse.

Rebooted multiple times - it did nothing. Tried updating driver uselessly in device manager, of course it says it's current.  Tried disabling the touchpad driver and installing Synaptic driver instead, installation fails. Tried finding another or newer driver to install from Dell - put in my serial number on Dell website and it returns a list of drivers with precisely ZERO of them being for a touchpad - so there is nothing. I can't even tell if this is a physical problem or a driver problem.  It seems way too weird to be purely physical.

Any help Dell? I'm not counting on it.

How disable the touchpad?

Hello support group!
I have a laptop DELL Vostro 14 5000 series with the operating system of Windows 7. I can not work successfully on the keyboard because of the high sensitivity of the touchpad. How do I disable the touchpad? I could not find this information.

Until now it worked perfectly and for my purposes it is enough. The only thing that decided to update hdd. Put ssd. Reinstalled the system win7 64 but the laptop became very slow. Maybe there is some special feature of installing ssd or do I need special drivers?
Thank you

XPS 13 9360; keyboard failure no backlight

I recently purchased an XPS 13, which arrived on March 7, 2017. I only got around to setting it up yesterday and today. I found the keyboard back-light doesn't work. I ran the hardware diagnostics from the support page and it came back with a hardware keyboard failure. The F10 key registers fine but the same key to activate the back-light doesn't turn on or cycle like it should.

Is it possible for someone from the technical department to contact me via email to discuss things. As phone support isn't an option for me.

Richard Blythin

DELL Inspiron 5567 bouting automaticaly into diagnostics mode

Hi there,

I have recently purchased a DELL Inspiron 5567 for a coleague. I have installed Windows 10 on it and setup boot in BIOS as legacy. The problem is that whenever I power on the notebook it goes into diagnostics mode. If I let it run the diagnostics it reboots at the and and it starts over. If I use the F12 key to access the boot menu, i can direct it to boot the operating system. If I just let it start by itself, it will always go into diagnostics mode. What can I do to make it automatically boot into the OK?

Thanks

Dell Inspiron 7559 hinges causes case separation after 6 months of standard use.

I'll start by saying this, I have never dropped this laptop. I am willing to photograph every inch of it to prove that case.

A few months after buying I noticed that every time I lifted the screen, using only the amount of pressure necessary to do so, the casing began to split at the base where the hinges attached. After having the laptop sent to Dell "support" I was told that I had caused the damage and it wasn't covered by their warranty. Funny though, because with some basic searching I found out that this problem is pretty rampant with the inspiron 7559 model. But of course, just because hundreds of people have the same issue and have even posted photos like mine, its still my fault and has nothing to do with a faulty design. So after refusing to pay the $160, they shipped it back and the best part is, I HAD TO RE-ATTACH THE ****ING KEYBOARD. They couldn't even be bothered to put the thing back together again properly. Don't buy a Dell. Just don't do it.

Dell Foundation Services and Dell Support Software Crashing Laptop

I am very concerned. My laptop is consistently taking forever to start and/or freezing. Is it possible to uninstall anything dell related? Or how do I fix it? I created a system report from the system information module if that would be helpful I can send it. The event log keeps complaining about the Dell applications listed below as reasons it is failing:

This error occurs repeatedly at start up:

XPS 9550 Touchpad Tap Function Not Working

For the past several months, I have been experiencing an issue with my touchpad on my XPS 9550. I have sent my laptop in 4 times for repairs, and I have even had my laptop replaced with a new one and the same problem remains! I know that I am not imagining this problem because other people have experienced it, but I have not yet seen a fix.

The Problem: Every few days, the touchpad suddenly becomes unresponsive to tapping. Upon tapping, it either tries to drag whatever you have selected, or it highlights text (depending on what you are doing). Multiple finger gestures (e.g. scrolling, changing desktops) still work perfectly fine for some reason, and so does mechanical clicking of the touchpad. The only temporary fix is a full restart, which is very annoying and time-consuming to do on a nearly daily basis.

Interventions:
1. Updated BIOS and drivers - no change
2. Sent in for Windows re-install - no change
3. Sent in for new touchpad and palm rest - no change
4. Sent in for new motherboard - no change
5. Sent in for system exchange (they gave me a new laptop) - NO CHANGE

Does anybody have any ideas on how to remedy this issue? None of Dell's technicians seem to know the answer. I would be extremely appreciative if anyone has any suggestions, and I'm sure you'd be helping out a bunch of other people as well!

I just received this laptop 5 day's ago and I cannot get it to power up. I charged the battery's with the charger that came with it. When I press the button to cut it on, a white light (located on the left bottom) will flash one time. This will even happen when you hold down the button to cut it on. Nothing happens at all.

Hello,

I have a problem with my laptop. I have a Dell Precision M4600 and Windows 10. I replaced a new battery. When working with laptop power adapter, it's all right. When working on the battery, the laptop suddenly shuts down without warning. Off it is as if I removed the battery. Everything is fine until I log in to Windows. After I log, off followed, sometimes just sometimes a few minutes. The problem is only when operating on battery. Battery capacity is fine. The battery is new. Interestingly, if I run safe mode, the laptop works fine for a long time, without shutting down. I updated bios, all drivers. In the event logs is no record, because it suddenly shut down. Only after turning on the log is, the system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first.
You can help me, please?
Thank you.

Dell Precision 5510 Ubuntu issues (sound, touchpad, external projector)

I recently bought a Dell Precision 5510 with Ubuntu 14.04 factory installed.   When adding common packages to get the machine up and running for work the display eventually disappeared and the machine just booted to a black screen.  I then installed 16.04 but have issues with the sound, touchpad and external monitor.

1) Sound does not work at all.  No speakers or head phone jack.  Under settings/sound it says Dummy Output.

I've been through this whole page, and updated the kernal several times.

help.ubuntu.com/.../SoundTroubleshootingProcedure

It seems to find a soundcard.

Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

>uname -r

4.10.0-041000-generic

2) The touchpad does not work at all, and I have to use an external mouse all the time.

3) When connected via the VGA adapter to some VGA projectors the external display is dropped after a few minutes.  It will come back with enough clicking around.  I've used these same projectors just fine with my old 12.04 machine.

This is all extremely frustrating.  Buying the machine with Ubuntu installed should mean it works with Linux.

Dell inspiron 1525 max specs?

Hey everyone,

I am wanting to upgrade my old 1525 for schoolwork, by putting an intel Core2Extreme X9000, 4GB of 800mhz DDR2 RAM, and a 500GB Samsung Evo SSD. The main question I have, is that if the X9000 will be a better choice than the T9500? Obviously would go for the X9000 (not just for bragging rights[:D]). But will the X9000 work with the inspiron 1525?

Cheers,

E7470 laptop slows down a lot when connected to E-plus dock

$

Hi!

I recently got a new E7470 laptop and as it's my work machine, I have an E-plus dock with it to make it easier to work at the desk. Since the first few times I've tried it, there are a few issues with the dock and the machine though. When docked, the graphics slow down a lot and things like scrolling through web pages take much longer and are no longer smooth.  This is persistent in all programs and makes the computer almost unusable. The dock is powered by a 130W PSU, so there ought to be enough power to keep everything running. When I docked it for the first time, windows 7 installed some drivers but hasn't prompted me for anything else since.

Any ideas on what it could be? As it is, I can't use the dock because the machine response is just too slow to do any useful work.

Cheers,

Kris

Usualy Warranty for Dell Inspiron 3542 processor & Battery?

What was the usual warranty for processor and battery????

I bought a laptop Dell Inspiron 3542 (i5, 1 TB hardisk).  I bought this in Dec 2014.

In my house Voltage disturbance happened and it results in effecting my laptop. It was not starting from then. I took to Dell service center. They told that IC might be damaged it cost around 6000 and service charge of 1000 INR. Post  week they called informed me that Processor, IC and Battery(Something I cant believe) were damaged. To fix that It'll cost around 18K and battery cost should bear by me separately.

Laptop was just 2 years old!!!! :( :(

Warranty expired for system. But i want to know? Is there any warranty for processor specially??
