Long time Dell user with a 2014 Dell XPS 14 L421X.
I'm hoping to give the laptop new life by replacing the current 1x8gb ddr3l with a 1x16gb ddr3l stick. On the laptop's manual, it lists that this model only supports 4gb and 8gb.
Does anyone have any recommendations/advice about upgrading this model's RAM from 8gb to the unofficially supported 16gb? I'd sincerely appreciate a good answer.

We have several Latitude E7240 and other similar models with Encrypted SSD Drives.
Two of our E7240 laptops are now have an encryption related issue. We want to re-image both computers but unfortunately we couldn't decrypt them. when we try decrypting we get blow errors:

I show similar conversations in Dell Community, that Dell - Justin C has asked people with same kind of issue to add him as a friend and send him a DM with Service Tags. I've done that and waiting for his response. I also wonder would any of you able to help me on this?
Yes, my message to Dell-Justin C contains both Service Tags.
I know the screen is working because I can access the BIOS on startup, and I can see the Dell Logo with the rotating dots when it begins the startup, but when it should be showing the Windows 10 login screen it's just black. I've tried typing my password to see if I get any feedback after logging in but nothing happened. Tried running the diagnostic test, nothing. Not sure if this is fixable or I'll have to get it fixed under warranty.

I was going to restart to get a 3rd party program to work again, but I saw that some programs needed to close. I pressed the cancel button, but cancel button failed to abort the restart and it restarted anyway.

Microsoft had an offer to allow free upgrade to windows 10 but that has now expired.
I am purchasing a used e7000 series laptop that is running windows 7 or windows 8.
Will I be able to upgrade to windows 10 for free or will I need to pay $$$$$?
For example, dell may have negotiated free upgrades for all their products with Microsoft which would have occurred outside the Microsoft free, now expired, offer.
Hi, I have a dell Inspiron 14 5477, the problem is when I plug the AC connector the mousepad becomes erratic in a way that is impossible to use, auto right click, jumps, random click without clicking and that kind of stuff, I don't have the original adapter, the plug is that with 3 legs, 2 flat and 1 cilindric in the middle, and the adapter is for 220V, I have tried with 2 different ones but I still have the problem. It has been about 2 weeks since I purchased the Dell XPS 2 in 1 9365 laptop. I must say that I did not expect such issues to arise . The battery gets completely drained out while in sleep mode. The laptop is warm to touch during the sleep mode indicating that something is running inside causing the battery to drain out completely.
I saw a few threads about the previous DELL XPS 13 having similar issues and did the recommended actions of uninstalling a number of Intel software , but that did not work at all.
This is the 2nd issue I have faced with this laptop with the first one being general slow response. That was solved by downgrading the BIOS firmware.
I am not able to return the laptop as I purchased the laptop from dell.com and am living in another country where this model is not yet available.
Kinda stuck with this model but I expected a company like Dell to do thorough testing before releasing a product into the market.

Regardless what I press (F1 F2 F5), it continues booting. Firmware of TB16 is the newest, 7510 has newest BIOS.

I got a WD15 dock and made sure all the drivers and bios were updated. plugged it in and started having issues. First it wasn't working with my keyboard and mouse when plugged into the Docking station (with the lid closed). No biggy plugged the into the laptop and continued working. Now it acts like the Ethernet Cable is being unplugged and plugged in constantly (lid still closed). Sometimes everything will work with the lid open, other times if acts like I unplugged the dock making the monitors flash on and off. Please help!
Have a new Inspiron 13 5000. It has completed all of its updates. I have tried several times with a couple of different USB thumb drives and each time the result is the same message that something has gone wrong -FAILED. The USB drives are 32 GB
I have a studio 1558. I left it open overnight and it had turned off the next day. I pressed the power button and can hear the fan and DVD drive activate. I tried plugging it into an external monitor, that did not work.
I tried removing the battery and power, pushing the power button for 60 seconds and starting again with only AC power but that did not change anything.
I removed the RAM and started it. It made two beeps repeatedly, so it recognizes missing RAM.
I ran the LCD test and it displayed all of the solid colors on the screen.
I do not know what I can try at this point. Is the motherboard toast?

I have bought this device a few months ago and already have submitted once to the dell for some hard drive issues. Now again a new problem is showing: No bootable devices found (in Dell Supportassist).
I can not run installed windows and not even find any drive to reinstall new copy of windows. Can I get rid of this problem? its very annoying to submit my laptop again to company cause it requires much time to get back again. Here is some specification:

I read in a post its possible to swap your DVD Drive with another SSD or HDD drive. So i am planning to upgrade my laptop (i know its quite old :P ) with both my legacy HDD and install SSD for the optical driver place. Is it possible ? if how then kindly let me know a guide please.

My Dell studio 1737 Model No:PP31L won't startup enimore.
A Short circuit on one of the usb ports killed my laptop .
There are power because the pictograms above the keyboard still working ,but there are no futher activitiy .
The harddisk working because the led lighting up for a very short notice.
Nothing to see on the screen .
I tested with a extern screen buth nothing to see .
how fix this problem ??

According to Microsoft, my Inspiron should be compatible with Windows Hello. However, my laptop says it cannot be used with my system. When I look in the device manager, it says my webcam is using the default Microsoft drivers from 2006! I tried to look online using the Hardware ID, but couldn't find it and when I reached out to Dell support chat, they gave me the link to install some software for a monitor from 2008.
Any ideas?
Hi When I start up my Dell Inspirion 17R it beeps once but continuously. I read a Dell Forum and it said to tap F12 to run Diagnostics, but nothing happened. Can you please help me?

I started a BIOS update on my Inspiron M5010. After a few moments the laptop went blank and appeared to be off. I restarted it and now all it does is beep. It does not even show the dell screen or the BIOS screen.
You can hear the DVD drive try to start as well as the hard drive start up.
Any help would be appreciated.
