hi al,, love my new Inspiron 5000 i5.....my only niggle is the updates.. i got notified and went to support assist update list for this laptop , downloaded and installed ...no problems...BUT the updates list doesnt update as they are installed...saying they still need to be installed....Am i doing something wrong.?.. I am wondering what the exact specifications are for the M.2 slot on the Inspiron 17 7778 2-in-1 laptop (Canada)? Specifically:
- size (ie. 2280)
- type (pci-e or sata)
- keying (ie. B/M/B+M)

ps. Looking up the manual, I believe it to be sata, but unsure of what else is supported. Some sites suggest that the size is 2280. I am unable to find any info on the keying at all. I am using a site like this as a guide: rog.asus.com/.../

Hello everyone! Now, after I repair my laptop from a some trouble, I thinking about CPU upgrade. It's not so expesive as buying new laptop I think.

Dell XPS 9560 - Terrible Response Time
I just got the laptop and the response time is noticeably bad, it's much worse than my mother's cheap HP. The screen is FHD. Is anyone else experiencing this and is there some way to fix it? Or is it just Dell using cheap panels?

Laptop Swollen battery
My laptop is a year and a half old. It is out of warranty since Dell's warranty is only a year. I have been noticing that the touchpad has been popping up but I never made anything out of it since I always use a Bluetooth mouse. We use Dell at work and often there is a tech who comes in to do in site repairs. I asked about the touch pad and he told me that it is actually a battery inside the laptop that is swelling and is pushing on the touch pad from the inside. I did some research and found out that it is a common issue on my model of the laptop. the battery is inside and it is not serviceable without taking the laptop apart.
I called Dell because even though the laptop is out of warranty I just don't feel that its right that it is having such a weird and dangerous issue, on top of that it was a pretty expensive laptop, I loaded it up when I bought it. Here is where I got the introduction to Dell's absolutely terrible Customer Service. After hours on the phone and multiple transfers to various phone numbers, sometimes back and fourth between the same numbers I was able to escalate to the supervisor who told me that Dell will not take any responsibility for manufacturing a laptop that after only a year and a half of service can have such a major issue. I was able to again escalate and was told that Dell will not take any responsibility for their manufacturing error. In fact, no Goodwill gesture was offered at all.
Kind of *** to buy a $3K computer that is only good for a year and a half. Lesson learned, should have bought an Apple. I have an iMac that is 2 years old now and hasn't had even 1 hiccup.

But it has a small barcode in it and number under it.The number is KR-887G87-71275-54K-A1HH-A88(15/84)
IS MY Battery original .
This battery lasted only for 13 months and now doesnt give any backup

Dell XPS 15 9560 + TB16 thunderbolt dock 240W
Hi guys,
i have a new Dell Xps 15 9560 and TB16 thunderbolt dock. Everything works great, except.... If TB16 is connected to the laptop, it's impossible to shut down the computer. Instead of powering down, laptop restarts. When TB16 not connected, laptop shuts down perfectly. How to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Bluescreen
I have an inspiron 15r with windows7 that I upgraded, using the free upgrade, to windows 10. All was fine until a month ago when it crashed whilst browsing the web. I had a bluescreen which is constantly saying attempting automatic repair. Doesn't get any further than this. I have attempted to enter the f8 menu following instructions on the factory image restore but f8 will not load the advanced options. Nothing happens. Help please

Laptop won't turn on - switches off after the first screen.
My Inspiron 3420 one day suddenly stopped working. Either it won't turn on at all or if it did, there'd be a click, the first screen would come on and then it'd shut down. My friend got it to work by pressing F2 and then some setup thing but after working for a while it'd reboot automatically or shut down. Now my friend is gone and I can't get it to work. What's the problem and is it fixable or is my laptop done for?

"Revitalizing" Dell Inspiron 7559 lid cover
Hello,
I have the Dell Inspiron 7559. The cover lid of this laptop feels like a rubber plastic which attracts a lot of fingerprints and scratches. Is there a way to "revitalize"/removing the scratches of the material? Thanks. Wiping it with a microfiber cloth leaves more scratches to it.

eMMC drive dead?
I have an inspiron 14 3452 and when I boot, it says there are no bootable devices. I tried switching to legacy from the boot menu, I tried switching to default and even tried reorganizing the boot devices as shown in tutorials with no help. I have used the process of elimination to suspect that the chip has failed and was wondering, since the laptop has room for a HDD, if i were to buy a 250gb hdd would it boot?

I start the laptop and it says no bootable devices, and have tried multiple methods with no success, I notice that there's an open hdd slot in the laptop. If I add a new drive will it boot as normal?

I need some help picking out some ram for my laptop. I have 2GB HYMP125S64CP8-Y5 ram. My choices are,
