Just bought a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 and after just a couple of days I noticed that the screen has some odd black spots/shadows at the bottom. I guess I did not notice them before because the Windows bar was covering them.
I have the same problem even when the laptop is booting or in bios, so doesnț seem like a OS problem.
Are all 5000 Series laptops like this? Is this something standard for this laptop? Now that I noticed them I find them very very annoying.

I have a Dell Studio 1747 running Windows 10 Pro, which I think is coming up to about 8 years old now.
For the last few years, a warning message appears saying that the battery can no longer perform optimally and that it should be replaced. Until now, I have just ignored that. However, yesterday, the battery no longer charges above 5%. When plugged in, it just says (Charging, Plugged In) but never goes above 5%. The low battery orange indicator light by where you plug the charger in is also constantly on now. However, if I unplug the charger, I get no low battery warning and the laptop does not turn off.
Does the battery need replacing? Or is this some other hardware issue? What steps can I take to diagnose this?
Since it is not causing any other performance issues and since I hardly use the battery anyway I am not too bothered about this, but it would be good to know what it is in case it develops into something worse.
My new XPS 15 9560 is terribly slow and freezes, especially when using Chrome (I'm writing this using Edge) I have only run Windows Update, installed Chrome (in admin account), created a regular user and logged into Dropbox under my regular user account. I have run the dell diagnostics which reported no problems.
The machine is unusable in Chrome and Edge stutters and lags also. I'm incredibly disappointed as this brand new machine, with virtually no software installed is even slower than the 5 year old machine it was to replace.
Any ideas? Maybe I just need to return the machine and buy another brand.

As stated, my system runs fine but I wanted to try the F12 diagnostics to see how it worked. To my surprise it shows a problem was found and the Hard Drive - not installed.
Would this be a normal situation when running a PCIe drive using a NVMe driver?
I am wondering what the Support Assistant would do if it popped up for some reason. If it can't see the M.2 drive, would it give me incorrect responses?
Should I disable Support Assistant?
System is two week old XPS 13 9365 2-in-1, running a Samsung 960 Pro in PCIe mode using the Samsung NVMe driver, running without problems..

When purchasing my new Inspiron 7579 - the online sales team encouraged me to also buy the DA200 adapter so I did. I have not had a need to use it until now, 65 days after purchase, and now I found out the did me wrong - this adapter will not work with the 7579. In truth I don't know if it works with any laptop or even works at all. Could be this was a concept that never panned out? The device is an adapter that is supposed to allow the user the ability to plug in and use four devices simultaneously by connecting through the USB-C port. The system doesn't even recognize it. I'm not so sure the 7579's USB-C poert is even functional. Anyway, be very very careful about advise given from Dell sales team - in my experience they don't really know what they are talking about. Oh, the Customer Service - run out of India - is even worse. They can recite their script "Sorry sir but that is not covered" or "Sorry sir, even though we sold you the wrong part, it's been more than 30 days so we will not correct our mistake" in decent enough English - if you can decipher the accent, but actual understanding of a loyal customers situation and commitment to make customers happy is NON EXISTENT!. I changed my default settings in Dell Latitude 7370. Can someone please let me know the factory brightness, contrast, hue and saturation values. These settings can be accessed by right clicking on the desktop and choosing intel display setttings and choose color.
I got an Inspiron E1705 w/XP Media Center 2005 on it. When I entered the Service Tag # it cones up as an Inspiron 9400. The hinge cover says Inspiron E1705. Maybe someone replaced the hinge cover from another laptop?
Are the E1705 and the 9400 the same thing? There are manuals for both! Which drivers to download, E1705 or 9400?
What AV to use?
Any browsers work with it?
Will probably dual boot with Linux.

It has been a long time that I'm suffering from fan noise issue. After, I've updated the bios to the latest version (A10) & I performed bios diagnostic, an error was displayed:
Error Code: 2000-0511
validation 86426
MSg fan: the fan failed to respond correctly.
What is strange, is the behaviour of the fan changes when the battery light is blinking, and it seems at time moment that the fan works correctly since the noise disappears remarkably.
Please, is the problem within the fan, have I to change it ?

I had a hinge malfunction with my Inspiron 15-7537. I took it to a technician and he repaired it with some resin. Due to the added thickness of the resin, the front trim does not completely fits into the lid. Apart from that, a bunch of dead pixels showed up.
Although the laptop is completely usable, I would like to replace the LED panel and the top lid. I would like to know if it is doable and exactly what parts to use.
I've already looked into some LED panels, but some come with 30 pin sockets and others with 40 pin sockets, so I'm a bit lost.

I need a blu ray drive for this laptop. The ones I'm seeing online don't have the curved front plate that conforms to my laptop. Will any of these laptop drives online fit the E5440, or are my concerns about the plastic plate lining up legitimate?
