It's much easier to simply show the video of what's started happening within the past few days, rather than try to explain it!: (Please visit the site to view this video)

This kind of thing tends to happen within a few minutes of booting up, and you lose whatever you've got open or are doing.

It's a Dell Inspiron with Windows 7; service tag # is 83RY0N1. Here are the other specs:

On a different note, I also think I might be interested in a tablet...but I don't know which one would be for me...I basically would love something that does what my laptop does for me, but is light and portable and easier to use just anywhere...oh, and that has phone capabilities. ^^' Since my old sliding Sprint cell is really kind of lousy now. So any insight into which types of devices I should be looking into would also be greatly appreciated. :)

The laptop has windows 7, when it is on the docking station it is on the network cable and works fine.

Sometimes when the user undocks it they lose some of the folders in their H: Drive, redocking resolves the issue.

Also when redocked they are online and Outlook shows connected but emails go to the Outbox, when user manually trys to send them Outlook crashes and outbox emails dissapear.

This has happened for two of my end users, any ideas?

Hello, I have a laptop xps 1647, when I connect the power cable the power button automatically turns on but the laptop does not boot (with the laptop opened). This happens with or without the battery, and I have tried pressing the power button for 60 secs, with the fn and d key but no success. If the laptop is closed the amber lights appear steady and if I press the fn or d key the laptop goes again with the power button on but not possible to boot. Let me know if you have seen this behavior before.

Good morning...

This is my personal laptop and it has been relatively trouble free till now.  I did some research on what this error means.  I get a black backlit display with no information and 8 beeps.  Apparently, that means there are LCD/display issues. 

How do I fix it?

Hello Dell,

        Got this new Precision M6800 and the DVD drive makes noise for almost every 2-3min but somehow it was solved following the A03 update and UsB 3.0 update. logged to BIOS and confirmed update. The DVD noise was gone but actually went back for 15-25min of use. I was installing different programs for work but DVD installation stopped and can't be read anymore. Is there any other way to fix this?

I got a new XPS 15 about 2 weeks ago basically for school and right in the middle of my finals Im having this abomination. I was studying and right in the middle the screen began flickering like a TV with bad transmission giving black wavy lines. After that everytime I turn on the laptop no matter what im doing normal usage, rebooting, restoring to factory setting, EVERYTHING the screen turns like that within 5 minutes and the computer becomes unresponsive. Recently the monitor started showing blank screens of every colour in random order in quick succession and then becomes fuzzy. Sometimes after going showing this funny stuff for a couple of minutes it turns off by itself. I cant do anything with my laptop at the moment. I tried restoring it to factory settings but the screen goes haywire when the process reaches less than 5% and it never goes to completion. My computer is in the semi-rebooting state and cant turn on properly. Is this a hardware problem or a driver problem. I doubt its a driver problem. The problem persists independent of whatever I do. Ive tried rebooting from CD and harddrive, run every diagnostic test the dell website suggests to no effect. Ive noticed that normally manual shutdown using the power button takes about 3 seconds, but in the condition im describing it turns off instantly. I have a Nvidia GeForce 525. Any help or advice please ??

Hye Dell community,

When I turn on my laptop , nothing appear on the screen...even the dell logo also not appear as usual...when i press power button once again, it just shut down...

Is it problem with the screen? or my hard disk fail to boot window 7...

My daughter dropped her Inspiron N5010. Other than cosmetic external damage it works okay but had a rattle. I took it apart and found a plastic extrusion from the bottom half of the case broken and super-glued it back. It's the post that holds the SD card slot in place. It seems secure, now. While I had it open I swapped the HD for an SSD.

After reassembly I have a couple of leftover screws. They're fine gauge Torx screws about 1 cm long and have a dimple in the top. They appear to require a specialty driver with the intent of preventing end-user removal. I can't figure out where they go and, not having the specialty tool, don't recall removing them. I really doubt my basic Phillips would have worked, with a result of my having removed them without knowing it.

Does anyone have a clue where they might have come from?

I've been at this for hours and all over the Dell site.  No matter what I can't locate the app.  I think I found the right driver and it is installed, but now I am VERY stuck!  Can any one help guide me.

My dell n5010 doesnt boot up for more than 5 seconds and the battery light is solid red when booted up. I have replaced the motherboard recently since it had the 8 beep error which is fixed.i also just got a new battery today in hopes it was my old battery that was causing it.However the new battery had no effect please help!

I got a popup and an attempt to install an exe file when i browsed a site with my virus software on.  It then went to priviledge escalation mode, and at that point I hard powered down the computer.  WHen I attempted to restart, i got the post 7 beep.  Removed the cmos backup battery, replaced, tried again, same beep.  I have the hard drive on an USB harness on my lab server and the partitions show up fine.  Haven't run a virus scan yet.  All of the answers I see for the same problem indicate a failed processor, but would this happen concurrently with an attempt to install a trojan?  Windows 7 btw. no new hardware installed prior to the error.

hello, i have a precision m6300 that whenever i unplug the power cord to use it on battery power, the computer will run a few minutes, then i will start opening programs, and it's still going, but eventually it just turns off. I recently just installed windows xp pro, but this same problem has occured on it's previous operating system for it's previous owner, so it may not be a driver issue. The computer is in great condition and was used by in an architectural office. I also opened it and cleaned everything, but the problem is still there. thnks for any help, and if you need more information just ask.

I Have purchased a Dell Inspiron 15 3537. I installed windows 7 64 bit. I cant find the drivers for the wifi n/w card.
I tried installing the windows 8 wifi driver for this model but its not working.

Hi I've recently started experiencing a problem with my dell inspiron laptop keyboard. Everytime I press certain keys, I get a wrong output.

Guys, I've been searching net for some time already, but I stopped due to futility.

I have Alienware M17X bought roughly 2 years ago and it was running smoothly. Till now. It was ALWAYS  standing on my desk, never moved to another place, it did not get any fluids on it, etc. I took good care of it , avoided any potential "everyday" dangers.

2 days ago, during playing SWTOR game, it got frozen, BSOD appeared and then I had to restart in the "hard way" - meaning disconnecting the power cable, and removing the battery. The system came back but it disabled the nVidia GTX560M GPu, stating the infamous "code 43". Immediately after it started downloading some Windows 7 updates, but the one for nVidia did not succeed. I have tried to reinstall the drivers (used ALL avail options from Dell and nVidia sites),

I also tried to "enable" the card in  Safe Mode (did not work at all) and what have you. I have checked numerous forums, most of them referring to SLI issues, but WHAT if I have just single GPU?  I Was on Windows forums, nVidia forums, googled and WIKI-ed it. No solution for my case.

At this point I give up, I need professional help, stating whether my GPU just died, or it is just a software conflict. Since my Alien has integrated Intel graphics, I still can use the laptop, but obviously I cannot play games.

Now, paying some 1900 EURO for a rig that does not even survive 2 years is rather pathetic. I could have the same stuff for 3 times less and I would know I cannot expect much of it.

Nevertheless, the question I have is:

- HOW can I check if my GPU just broke mechanically, so I need to replace it? Is there any program that does it?
- if the above is not the case WHAT can I do to make it RUN again?

Windows code 43 is extremely generic and refers to both options, i seem not to be able to eliminate any of them.

Hi,

I recently purchased Inspiron 15R Notebook (Inspiron 5521) laptop in dell online store. As far now the laptop performance is ok. but from the beginning the laptop charger won't charge upto "100%". it always stops in 99%. it won't charge upto 100%. in the taskbar charger percent shows always upto 99%.what is the problem?. couls you please advice me?.
