TB16 constant flicker at 60hz (XPS13 & 4K Dell P2715Q)

I'm using a TB16 with a XP13 (9350) and a single 4K monitor (Dell P2715Q). The setup works perfectly at 30Hz but at 60Hz it flickers continually. By flicker I mean the external display switches to black for 2 to 3 seconds several times per minute. The BIOS of the XPS13 and all drivers are current. MST is turned off on the monitor. The setup works fine at 30Hz. I tried enabling airplane mode as others suggested in this forum and it made no difference. I have also tried several DisplayPort (mini and full) cables with no success.

This is not an issue with the monitor as I can hookup a Surface Pro 4 at 60Hz without any issues.

One interesting thing is when I hookup the SurfacePro4 it defaults to 60Hz but when I hookup the XPS via the TB16 the default refresh rate is 30Hz and I need to change it to 60Hz using the display adapter settings.

Is anyone successfully using a similar setup without flicker? The TB16 specs list it as capable of supporting 2 4K monitors at 60Hz.

I appear to have killed my Dell E7240 laptop while attempting to fix my docking station.

I was using my laptop off the docking station, and using the battery, last night. When I finished I put the laptop to sleep and put it in the dock.

This morning when I tried to turn my laptop on nothing happened. I noticed that all the lights were off on the dock and the light was off on the Dell charger cable even though it was plugged in.

I took the laptop off the dock and it worked fine. I tried the charger in a different socket and it was fine and when I put it back in the original socket then it also seemed fine. The light indicator lit up and I was able to plug it into the laptop without issue.

I put the charger back into the dock but it gave no signs of life. I tried putting the laptop onto the dock with the charger plugged directly into the laptop rather than the dock. When I did this the lights on the dock lit up for a split second and then everything died, the dock, the laptop and the charger.

The charger is fine again now once I unplugged it and plugged it back in but the laptop is dead.

When the charger is plugged in then the battery and power indicators on the outside of the laptop light up. When the laptop is on the battery (which had 63% charge before it died) and I press the power button then the external battery and power indicators light up for a few seconds and then go out. Nothing else happens.

None of the storage, battery or power indicators above the keyboard light up at any stage.

I've tried taking the battery out, unplugging the charger and holding the power button in for 30 seconds but it hasn't made a difference.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Guys,

I have dell xps 15 laptop some 4 years old.I have opened it for cleaning because earlier i was having heating issue. But after cleaning it was getting shut down after 5 min or 10 mins.
So, i gave me laptop for general service.After that it worked fine for 1 day(i worked on my laptop for nearly 5 hrs and it was working fine. The very next day again the same issue is coming.it is getting switched of after 15 min. and sometime it is working more tha half hours. What might be the issue???? And also sometime i experience slowness in laptop working
Please help me.i have changed my laptop battery after service repair....

I got my new XPS 13 laptop last week, with Windows 10 Home preinstalled. Then I have found that there is a "device encryption" option over my C: (Windows 10 OS) partition.

I want to later install Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (dual boot with Windows 10 Home) on this machine. To do this, I have to resize the C: partition and add other partitions.

But after I turned off the device encryption and shrunk the C: partition, in order to add other partitions, I found that the device encryption is not working again. Only by reverting the partitioning can I make device encryption work again.

So I am really curious about how I can deal with partitioning and device encryption in my case?

I bought a Dell Studio XPS 1647 in January 2011 from Singapore. After 06 years of use, the primary battery has reached the end of its life. However, when I went online to purchase a replacement, I learned that this laptop model had so many issues that Dell finally had to make it obsolete. Needless to say, procuring the replacement battery has not worked out so far.

Singapore no longer has the primary battery available. It's a 6-Cell (56 WHr) Li-Ion Primary Battery, so I went to search for the same for my laptop model in the overall Dell website, mainly US. I found numerous batteries with the same specs compatible with my model but funnily the battery images do not even remotely match the battery that came with my laptop. In fact, these listed batteries do not even match each other by their images.

Is it possible to have different molds for the same spec primary battery for the same laptop model when the laptop is purchased in a different country??

Will appreciate any enlightenment on the subject. TIA!

does that mean that if I have a processor that supports 16GB RAM I could upgrade my RAM? My exact model is Intel Core i5-2520M and according to this site processors.specout.com/.../Intel-Core-i5-2520M 16gb RAM is supported

Received my new AW13R3 OLED this week. Overall the build quality of the device seems to be high, but the software drivers for the 1435 wifi card appear to be of low quality.

I randomly lose my internet connection where other devices in the house are unaffected. I have seen similar complaints online from other AW owners.

So far I have uninstalled the drivers and re-installed with the latest set from the Killer website, this yielded some improvement but I still get drops during large file transfers.

Have any other Dell or AW owners with this card manage to resolve this issue?

dell L502x webcam problem

Hi guys,

So, My Dell XPS L502x's integrated webcam kept connecting and disconnecting as my slightly loose and unhinged monitor opened and closed. So, in order to prevent any problems, I disabled my webcam. I didn't realise it also disables mic and prevents an external mic from connecting either.

Now, I can't access my webcam as it's not listed in Device Manager so I know it's disabled but I can't re-enable it again since it's not listed.

I tried booting from BIOS but I'm not sure there was a webcam option (maybe I wasn't looking in the right place?)

I'm thinking it's a connection problem so I was thinking of taking the bezel off to make sure everything is okay.

I wanted to know whether it's necessary to go through the entire process of disconnecting the back and taking out the I/O devices etc?

Can't I just remove the battery and remove the bezel?

Hi good day, I believe my laptop is no longer warranty, my screen appears to have two spots close to the middle left, the upper portion of the screen.

I have tried the programs, pressure and small amounts of heat. Can this be repaired or does it need to be replaced?

After my laptop updated to windows 10 automatically, it will no longer connect to the internet. It seems to "forget" that I even have wifi capability. I have a netgear wireless router and a charter modem. My only options under "network properties" are ethernet (realtek pcle gbe family controller - "not operational" and Bluetooth network connection (not available). I have not been able to use this laptop since May of last year. I checked for VPNS and there are none. I tried to download the driver for my laptop on a flash drive and it did not fix anything. I am so frustrated and at a loss. As a college student, this has made things nearly impossible for me for a year now. I got a new HP desktop for Christmas and it connects to the internet perfectly with no problem. Severely disheartened by my Dell computer that I used to love.

I'd like to start off by saying that I've had this error since I bought this laptop. Should I have returned it as soon as I realized it crashed randomly? Yes. Did I? No, because I moved out to France just after buying the laptop.

Any who, it's almost one year old, and I decided I might try to solve this by myself since no windows update solved it.

I receive a DPC Watchdog Violation BSOD randomly. I have gotten these BSODs over the past year, and I've gotten pretty used to them. They appear without any pattern. Sometimes when I'm browsing the internet, sometimes when playing games or programming, sometimes when I'm doing nothing at all and most of them when I Skype for an hour or two. I'm pretty certain it crashes during sleep too, as I know I put the computer to sleep during the night time, but when I turn it on in the morning, it boots up from a shut down state.

I updated all my drivers (the most common reason for this BSOD) but the crashes continued. I keep my drivers up to date anyways out of habit. The biggest problem with this BSOD for me is that no dump file is created or so it says my Dell SupportAssist software. When the BSOD appears, it tells me to wait for some info to be collected, but the percentage hangs at 0% forever.

One of the suggested solutions I found online was simply to reinstall Windows 10 - unfortunately, my computer came with it pre-installed, and I didn't have a CD to reinstall it. I didn't want to lose all my files so I never did this.

With that out of the way, I was basically left with the conclusion that the problem must be in the hardware and more precisely the SSD since the BSOD gets stuck at 0% and maybe it cannot access it when creating the dumpfile. But with the same SupportAssist software I runned a hardware testing but everything checks out fine, even the SSD.

My laptop (Dell XPS15 9550) has:

-16GB of RAM.

-512GB of PCIe SSD

-intel core i7

-NVIDIA GeFoce GTX 960 - 4GB

So recap:

DPC Watchdog Violation almost once a day
No dump file
No problem with Hardware (says Dell's SupportAssist software)
All drivers updated

Honestly, I'm considering just getting a new laptop, but it would really be a shame, because aside from the crashes, this laptop works perfectly fine and as many know, the XPS series are decent laptops. If anyone can help out, I'd really appreciate it.

I have bought my DELL xps last week. The touchpad does not work at all.

I have tried with driver update, uninstall the driver and restarting the PC.

All useless. Device does not recognize the any mouse! however external mouse works normally.

Hello so my laptop (Precision 1350 Workstation) with windows 7 which i bought in September 2016 stopped charging after I used it with my docking station . It worked for a week or two prior to this and then I started getting a notification every time I put the laptop on the docking station that said "ac power adapter not recognized , use adapter of 65 watts or above" but the adapter was 130 watts. Even when the laptop was taken off the docking station and the ac adapter was just plugged into the wall it still won't charge at all. I made sure the bios was updated 1.11.4 and even checked for driver to update and ran the online diagnostics there was no problems but it still won't charge. A tech came out last Wednesday and replaced the motherboard and this fixed the problem for about a day but then when I put it back on the docking station the same problem occurred and it still won't charge. I even tried it on a different docking station but the same make and model as mine and the problem persists. Does anyone know what is wrong? The phone tecnicians and the technicians don't seem to know what to do

My laptop does not boot up. When I plug in the charger the led light on the laptop indicates it charging but when I go to hit the power button to turn on and I hear a clicking/ popping sound with the caps lock light blinking and led blinking on laptop with a black screen. Please help Dont know what to do have a warranty but am nervous.

Hi @all,

i have found out that the DELL Vostro 3558 has a 4 pin Backlight connector. So i bought me a keyboard with backlight it said compatible with DELL Vostro 3558/3559.

After connection everything works except the backlighting, in bios i also do not have the option to enable it. Is there a way to unlock this feature or do i need to wire it myself somehow?

Searching lead to an entry where a user successfully got a DELL Vostro 3559 Keyboard with Backlight working, sadly i cannot install the bios from that laptop i think there are not that much different.

So if somebody has an idea, please share it with me :)

while i was working om the laptop i had a notification about the the power of the laptop less than 6% and the lap will turn off and i ignored the massage then the lap turned off , from that moment the lap didn't work, when i plug the ac adapter the charging led turns on for one second then it turns off and when i press the power button there isn't and response.

please help me !!
