Hi guys,

I have recently started having temp issues on my gpu and cpu in idle. I recently pulled off the back to clean the fans out but it was all clean still. My idle temps at the current moment are 50 Degrees for both GPU and CPU and when under light load with a game running on minimum settings with optimization for basic systems im hitting 90 degrees on my cpu and gpu. Now the GPU fan doesnt seem to be ramping up at all but the CPU fan is. Now does anyone know if theres a way i can manually up the fan speed for auto?? I have been using with Speccy and HWiNFO for monitoring temps and fan control but when trying to control the fans with HWiNFO i can only control the CPU fan. When upping CPU fan speed the GPU fans stop all together..

Any help in this would be appreciated!

The inspiron 15  (3542) had something spilled on it not sure what. The system works just fine accept for the sticky keyboards, it still works though. The problem according to the user is the "g" key does not work at all.  When you turn the laptop on open word all you see is "ggggggggggggggggggggg" continously running until you hit enter or hit another key. After it stops the"g" key does not work anymore. I have replaced the keyboard and get the same exact problem with the new keyboard. The only things I can think of for the problem are new keyboard is bad or a short in the motherboard. Does anyone have any insight to this fix?

Hii !  My laptop dell insprion N5110 keep

Repeating bootup when i open the laptop, just only the sign of Dell displays then laptop

Restart himself. when i run a diganostic test it give me error on my cd room which is (error code 2000-0147 opu failed) and also

Shows that AC adaptor is not installed.... please help me with to deal with this problem

Hi, I have purchased this laptop with Windows 10 Home pre-Installed. But due to some Professional requirements, I want to install a Developer friendly linux distro on it. I'll be using many VMs in that distro along with a possible installation of Windows via Wine. Therefore, I want to be sure about the aftermath of all this, including Driver support and battery usage. Has any fellow developer tried the above mentioned linux distros (Ubuntu 16.04 LTS / Linux Mint 18.1) on it without any problems? I have checked that it supports Ubuntu 14.04 but want to use the latest LTS versions. Just want to make sure that nothing gets messed up.

A colleague who was carrying an armful of laptops stumbled across this strange occurrence.

I recently bought a year-old Precision 7710 which still has two years of warranty left. I bought it form an individual who bought it from a company called Laptek a few months ago. Laptek themselves have an email address only and have not respond to my emails. The laptop comes up as registered in Belgium and no-one seems to know who the original owner was. I tried filling in the international ownership transfer form - once from the Belgian website and once from the UK - but nothing happened and this was weeks ago.

Help!

Hi All

Recently I bought an Inspiron 7559, I follow some guides to install Intel rapid Storage to increase the system performance using the SSD, The laptop come with a 128gb SSD and 1Tb HDD with 8Gb ssd. I installed RST but does not show an option Accelerate, the SSD is an unnalocate space. I found many guides about this problem but does not work. The BIOS does not have a RAID 0 option. I deleted the partition, keep as unnalocate space, also formated as hibernate partition, reinstalled everything but do not work.

Please, somebody can help me. The SSD is useless? Can I only use as a normal disk?

Hi - Apologies straight off to any Mods about where this is - Just couldn't really see anywhere else to post - & I am kind of desperate!

I recently went to New Zealand for 2 months, and on the very last leg of my return trip left my precious M6500 on the train - it was very early in the morning and I was severely jet lagged - Pathetic excuse but it happened.

I contacted the relevant station, but unfortunately the laptop has not been found.

To make matters worse 2 boxes of important documents were destroyed by the house movers while I was away - Including all my Dell documentation.

My question is, does anyone know how I can possibly find out any relevant Chassis numbers or anything else which might be useful for the police and my insurance company? Regrettably, the machine's details were never listed on the household policy I had as they did not require them.

I have logged in to my Dell account and can see the Service Tags,and what looks like a Serial number for 1 of the HD 's, but I had replaced the Primary drive with an SSD, so that is about it.

I'd be really interested to hear from anyone who's had the same misfortune - Just to find out how they proceeded - This is the 1st time anything like this has happened to me, and I am kinda struggling to find out what to do! (Yes, thanks for the "Get your head examined mate" Cries I can hear!

i have dell latitude e5440 , all my driver are up to date , but i can't but a finger print since it says that i need a fingerprint manager application , searched the net for 3 days now and found nothing , please help me to solve this ,

It has been three to four days that I've been facing this problem. The power button won't 'click'. I have to really compress/push the button with (unwanted) force. And I am really concerned about it as I think, with every passing day, I might be making it worse(though it doesn't seem to be). I don't want to go to some hardware repair shop as I don't really trust them(they charge a lot as well as mess a lot) and also I don't want to perform any 'operation' on it (as I don't trust myself either). So it'd be great if someone help me out or at least give me some idea about what might be the problem and how can I get myself out of it.

I have a Laptop Inspiron 5558 and recently I have a hard Time to turn the Compurter on.

I have to press the Power Button and hold it down for a few minutes before the Computer launch into Windows. I checked the Battery and the Power Cord , that is working and I face no other issue with my Laptop.Soon my Laptop is on is running fine

What shal I do?

Hi I am having trouble with my laptop. When I hit the power button the power light will light up for a second and the they would go out and there are no beep code or nothing.

I have used my laptop without any complaints for a few months (Win10 x64, legacy non-UEFI mode, RAID, BIOS 1.0.7). My particular model has FHD/non-touch display with a Toshiba NVMe.

Last week I had to reinstall the OS and hand the laptop off to someone else. I thought: okay, this is just the job for secure SATA erasure. So I've used the Data Wipe option available from the BIOS menu. Just as expected, after clicking the checkbox in the BIOS menu and confirming 2 prompts and then 2 more prompts after reboot, my data was gone. The process went normally and was quite fast (under 1 minute).

But something else happened, too. Now I have got a handful of strange problems:

1. When enabled: legacy (non-UEFI) mode, legacy ROMs, RAID - Windows can only be loaded thru UEFI (!) bootloader (note: I am using GPT but tried MBR too). It looks like this: use F12 to see the boot menu - Legacy Boot is an empty list, UEFI Boot has one entry for Windows Boot Manager. This means I have to use F12 /every time/ I boot the machine (else BIOS complains about no boot device since there's no legacy bootloader entry).

2. When enabled: UEFI, no legacy ROMs, RAID - the drive is not seen at all and on-board diagnostics (ePSA) reports that hard drive is not installed. Tried with Ubuntu live CD - it doesn't see any drives too (normally it sees /dev/nvme...). BIOS itself doesn't see any drives (after switching from Legacy to UEFI the list of devices above the switches is gone, i.e. shows just an empty space).

3. When enabled: UEFI, AHCI - everything works normally. I don't get speed lag on boot like reported here (1) or here (2) - POST and Windows boot are as fast as always as far as I can tell. But it doesn't sound right to use AHCI.

4. When installing Windows, if BIOS is in UEFI mode - the setup asks for SATA driver; if I give it, the setup displays partitions I have but doesn't let me install onto this drive saying that this device is non-bootable and that I should check that its interface is enabled in BIOS.

Note that:

1. After googling and reading this forum, I found that it might be a BIOS issue, although people had problems enabling AHCI mode for Ubuntu (I don't have this problem) and they had no problems using RAID mode. I have updated BIOS firmware to 1.3.2 but it didn't have any effect. I have also updated the Toshiba's firmware to ...103 (it was ...101) but again, no changes.

2. I tried swapping the SSD with a brand new Intel 6 series NVMe PCIe-v3 SSD but this also has changed nothing. In other words, the SSD is not the problem, it seems like a defect of the controller/firmware.

3. Values for Legacy ROMs, SecureBoot have no effect.

I bought dell laptob 1 year ago. I am soo dissapointed with this laptop (inspiron 3543) Intel core i7, 8GB RAM, 2GB Nvidia.
I want watch a video that is 1,5 hours long. When I skip for example to 55. minutes the video lag and start from the beginning.  My friend have laptop Asus, Lenovo with much worse specifications and them video is working properly. I am very dissapointed because eceryone said that dell laptops are good, but I don´t recommended dell laptops to anyone. I bought laptop for 900€  and I can not watch video on it ?!!?!! I think that it is not normal for that specifications.

I replaced the power input board due to the jack being broken. Also replaced the CMOS battery with a new one, measured at over 3V. Old one was 0.6V.

The battery charged (steady blue LED, then blinking then off).

Nothing happens when I push the power button, or the Media Direct button.

When I hold Fn and push the power button the Numlock LED blinks fast and continuously, Caps lock LED is on steady, Scroll Lock LED is OFF. Said to indicate bad CMOS battery in other info I found online.

I turned the CPU socket latch to release and back to ensure the socket had a fresh bite on the pins.

Aside from the broken power jack it looks like brand new. No dirt, no scratches.

Edit: I tried a different CPU. I tried it without the RAM and without the CPU and without both installed. No difference at all. No reaction at all to pressing the power button, or the same blink code when pressing Fn plus power.

I currently use an E7470 with docking station in office with a 27 inch Dell monitor. While docked, my display settings are set to "Medium - 125%". When I un-docked, Medium-125% is too big and I always have to change it manually to "Small-100%".

Is there a way for my E7470 to automatically switch the Display settings when I dock and un-docked?

Hello,

I recently bought a new Dell U2515H Monitor which is capable of 2450x1440 resolution.

I connected it to my Dell Inspiron 14z 5423 laptop using HDMI (there's no DP on the laptop).

The 5423 comes with two display adapters: an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 and dedicated AMD Radeon HD 7570M, which supports 2450x1440 resolution.

However, Windows only allows me set the external monitor's display up to 2048x1152 resolution.

Does this mean it uses the integrated card for the display?

Is there any way to fix this?

(All my drivers are updated to the latest versions)

Hello,

i bought used Precision m4700 laptop with intel i5 3360m CPU (2cores, 4threads, 35W). Its possible to replace only CPU with e.g. Intel Quad-Core i7-3720QM (4cores, 8threads, 45W)?

Does DELL use same heatsinks for all m4700 laptops or heatsinks are differents depending on CPU?

My laptop doesn't turn on,  even without battery, yesterday the battery indicator was flashing white and orange, and then the laptop turned on to run the assistant, it said me that the battery is failing, but why i can't use my laptop without battery?
