Dell Inspiration 7353 BIOS Update bring legacy boot failed Windows 8.1

Hi,

I really appreciate the good design of Dell Inspiration 7353 laptop, it's good, mostly indeed.

Recently I have a problem to use legacy boot (USB, DVD/CD, Internal HD, whatever), after I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest one (Inspiron_3153_3158_7353_7359_7568_1.13.0). Due to legacy boot is required in my daily work, so I will ask for help, see if anyone can give me a solution.

When I used the laptop without any BIOS upgrade, it can boot from any legacy driver (USB, etc) with Windows 7, 8+ etc.

Then it had a small USB issue, I thought I should try to upgrade BIOS, see if this can help, then soon I started to regret, because I had found that all legacy boot is failed, the Windows 8.1 throw me into a BSOD, tell me PAGE FAULT error. I have tried USB, internal HD & DVD, all same.

Then I googled, saw someone had similar problem (not same), he cleared CMOS by pull out the battery, so I tried it without any hope, but surprisingly, when I pull out the battery and remove the connection of power adapter and laptop battery, by pressing the power button several time with & without power cord connected, then I installed the CMOS battery, laptop battery, restart the laptop.

When I press F12 to load the boot menu, it really can load legacy bootable device, but that's one time thing. After the system reboot, the problem back again, looks like if I want to boot into legacy bootable device, I will have to remove CMOS battery each time like above all...sad.

I thought BIOS can support legacy bootable device before I have upgrade it, so the BIOS update file might be the problem, so I tried all BIOS version, indeed, all of them except the latest version, no one really worked, I tried change different option in BIOS for more than ten times probably, not working at all.

So I am here to see if any dell professional IT techie, could check the BIOS or test the BIOS update once more, and tell me how to resolve this issue, or maybe send me a downloadable default 7353 BIOS (not any update in the driver & download page), so I can restore it to the original one, then I can get to work soon, that will be grateful, and a million time thanks.

A suggestion, maybe providing a default BIOS update (factory original one) in the driver & download page, could be a great help for customers like me.

Best regards,

My laptop will not get beyond the time and date initial blue screen.  Now not even showing the background picture.  I have tried just about all of the alternative boot options from F12, but still not able to get into to anything further.  This happened after the machine was re-opened in the morning as usual from closed-lid sleep.

Help me please, I'm desperate.  I'm writing  this on my old Inspiron, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do anything at all!

HELP!

Thank you in advance,

Annie.

INSPIRON 5559 - HELP! BIOS PROBLEM

$

Please can anyone help?  I installed a Dell update yesterday, and since then I haven't been able to get into my laptop at all.  It was taking me to the 'time/date' screen showing wallpaper, but wouldn't go any further.  After reading the relevant advice on the help screens on my other old Inspiron, it's got even worse.  I tried the 'Control and Esc' method on start-up to enable me to recover BIOS old settings, but now the screen is locked with 'Updating EC BIOS', and telling me not to power down, but it's been sitting idle like this for at least an hour.

Also, it will not let me shut the power off with the main power button, and the only way I can think of to try and start again is to actually remove the battery so that it HAS TO shut down.

Can anyone offer any help or advice please, as I don't know where else to look.

Thank you.

Annie

Need help installing Windows 10 - Inspiron 17 5000 Series (5759)

I bought this Laptop for my Grandson for Christmas because it was on sale at a good price and I've had good luck with Dell.

. Inspiron 17 5000 Series (5759)
. Windows® 7 Professional, 64-bit, English
. (Includes Windows 10 Pro license)

It came with Windows 7 Pro installed and a disc for Windows 10 Pro.

The disc is labeled:
. Operating System
. Already installed on you computer
. Windows 10 Pro
. 64-bit

It's a good laptop and grandson wants Windows 10 (like his Dell desktop). Upgrading my older laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 last summer with the free Microsoft online update was easy, but this has stumped me. I can't find any instructions for installing Win 10 and have been stuck as I try boot from the disc or run the disc from Windows 7. It would be embarrassing to tell the boy that I couldn't do the upgrade.

I haven't been able to find any instructions searching online. I'd appreciate help or a link to directions.

AC Power adapter error message on startup

Lately when booting up my laptop I've been getting an error messages that reads "The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. The system will adjust the performance to match to power available.."

I just hit F1 to continue and my battery charges and everything functions normally. I've been using the same power adapter that came with it and have never used a different one. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong so why am I seeing this message and how can I get rid of it?

My Alienware R2 is less than a year old and is still under warranty if there were to be a hardware issue..

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello i need help with my computer,um i recently used a inspiron 5755 and i updated my bios so that i could fix something. unfortunately,it froze half way through and i didn't know what to do so i had no choice but to turn my laptop off.the screen was frozen and not making more progress so i could not move my mouse nor access task manager to quit the problem.i have not seen that many errors people have with the inspiron 5755 so i don't know if there's many fixes to it.

the problem i'm having now is that when i boot up my computer i have a blackscreen, not even a dell logo just nothing, and i can still hear the fans going but there's nothing displayed on my laptop screen.i have tried many methods of getting around it but it each attempt failed.i tried to hold End while the battery was out and then plugging in my ac-adapter but it wouldn't work.i really would like to know if any of the usb flash drive methods would work for my laptop because i don't want to go through the pain of disassembling my laptop or resetting my bios.if there's any thing you could do to help me i would appreciate it :)

I've Had Enough of Dell

You will have to forgive me for posting this here, but you, like most companies, don't want to hear from your customers, so you have gotten rid of a way for me to email this to you. But I will NEVER buy another Dell product again, ever. I have two Dell laptops, and a Dell desktop computer. About two weeks ago, one of the laptops died. Every time I tried to start it up, I got a bluescreen. When I came here for help, all I got was a wild goose chase, and a rather rude refusal to help because my warranty had expired. I had to scrap it. Yesterday, the same thing happened to the Dell Desktop computer. This time I knew better than to come here, and I ended up having to go back to a previous version of Windows. All that banging my head up against a wall with the laptop paid off this time, because what I tried and failed with the laptop, actually worked with the desktop. I finished up about an hour ago. I opened my other laptop, the one I'm on right now, and noticed my battery was down to 63%. It says plugged in, not charging. All the searches I did (once again, I knew better than to come here looking for help) says I need a new battery. I just bought a new charger for this one a month ago. What do you people do? Insert viruses to sabotage your products at tax time, so people will use their refunds to buy new computers? Well I'm going to buy a new laptop, but you can bet a million dollars on the fact it won't say DELL on the lid. I'm done with you.

Precision 5520 - Doesn't recognize original 56Wh battery

Hi,

I'm trying to install a new 56Whr battery on my new precision 5520.

I bought the battery directly from dell but unfortunately the system doesn't recognize it as original and consequently doesn't charge it.

The laptop was previously equipped with a 97Whr battery but I had to downgrade it to allow the  installation of the Sata HDD,

Is there anything that I should change on the system while doing this? I don't see any options in the BIOS, could it be an issue with the battery itself?

The 56whr battery is an option that Dell is currently selling on the XPS version of this laptop and on the previous version of Precision.

Any thoughts?

Computer acting up and not working.

Today my computer was acting just fine. I was about to do some work. I went outside for about 10 minutes to take out trash and clean up dog poop. I was going in when I saw from my window that my computer had like restarted. I sat down and logged in again and realized my computer was lagging and not really responding. I tried to open Skype but 10 minutes would pass and nothing. Steam was verifying and checking updates but wouldn't go away. I tried to open task manager but it would take about 5 minutes and wouldn't really respond.I tried to restart and shut down but it wouldn't respond. I tried control alt delete but it would take long to process and even longer when I tried to turn it off. I decided to shut it down and leave it for a while. About maybe 2 hours later I turned it on and it showed a 1990 type of textured screen. It said support assist on top left and initializing storage in center. After a little bit it said hard drive not installed and product name, system BIOS, service tag, and ePSA. I click continue and it says it is trying to find problem. It just stops then the screen goes black and it shuts down. WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?!?!?! Help please. My computer is a Dell inspiron 15 1300 series.

Dell e5420 usb ports don't work after reboot

$

The USB ports on my dell e5420 won't work if I have any devices connected to them during power up. For example, if I have my keyboard plugged into the laptop and then reboot, that USB port won't work unless I disconnect the keyboard and reboot without it connected. This is a huge problem because I use this laptop as a desktop only and have multiple USB devices connected to it at all time. Any idea why this is happening?

Touchpad / pointer moving by itself

My new Dell Latitude E7470 is currently having a problem where my mouse cursor moves by itself. This is very annoying as it will move even as I am trying to use it, and it also wakes up my screen and keyboard backlight. It can go for a period of time without happening, and then all of a sudden it starts in 5-10 second intervals. Each time moving an centimetre or so to the right.

I've narrowed it down to an issue with touchpad and/or pointer stick as I turned the touchpad off in the BIOS and the issue seemed to go away.

At first I thought this was an OS/driver issue as I exclusively use Ubuntu 16.04 on the machine, and Linux is know to be buggy with hardware, but then I realised it also happens while in the actual BIOS. If it is happening in the BIOS menu then surely it can't be an OS issue. My BIOS version is 1.12.3

Has anyone else come across this issue? I do have next day on-site warranty, but thought I'd check before going through that process since I don't know if Dell will process my next day warranty while I'm running Linux, even though I don't believe Linux is the issue.

Thanks.

Dell 7559 Laptop - Frustrating lag / slow performance

I recently bought this laptop from Amazon and immediately had problems with it.

Basically, during about 3 hours of using it, there will be about 4 or 5 occasions when the laptop just slows completely. It might be when browsing on the internet or when playing a game. I will click a menu option or open a program and there will be a delay of about 2 or 3 minutes (sometimes more) before the program opens.

If anyone else has experienced these problems or if anyone can recommend solutions I would be extremely grateful. I have downloaded/updated my drivers and BIOS from the Dell website.

Dell XPS 15 2017 Keyboard issues

Hello,

I have just got my Dell XPS 15 and it has couple of issues with the keyboard:

1) The Enter key is not travelling smooth and producing some weird creaky sounds.

2) The right arrow key seems to have some strange defect as it jumps out of the place

This is very disappointing and this kind of issues are not even the case with cheap laptops.

Does anyone have an idea what can be done in this case?

Thanks

Hello,

I was wondering as my new XPS 9360 has Bluetooth if I buy a new television with Bluetooth built-in (Sony, Samsung, etc.) is it possible to use the TV as a monitor without purchasing or installing anything other than the Bluetooth software? If so, how do I find the necessary info from Dell on/in doing this? Thanks for all you help in advance.
