No usb mouse, wired or wireless mouse will work.
It's detected when plugged in.
Loads driver.
But... Does not show up on Device Manager.
Any help appreciated.
PS. All other usb devices work ok. Modem, Thumb drives etc.

XPS 12 screen doesnt rotate after upgrading to Windows 8.1+ plus other wobbles
Hello All
I took the plunge and updated to windows 8.1 on my XPS 12 last night, the first problem was the right click options missing from the desktop.
this was remedied by updating the drivers for the cypress touchpad. then I discovered no matter what I did the centrino wireless N 6235 card would not enable. so I removed this from the device manager and re-detected in windows this is currently stable however the Dell Support site recommends updating it, so I have downloaded the driver but when I try to install it I am told this cannot be installed on my system?
more annoying than anything is the auto-rotate function on my flip screen isnt working any more....
Any ideas?

Dell N7010 motherboard problem
Hi!
My Dell N7010 motherboard is faulty (was spilled) and I couldn’t find for replacement.
Motherboard number is DAUM9BMB6D0 REV: D DP/N 0V20WM (with ATI graphic integrated).
CPU is I5. I couldn’t find everywhere in internet (I have looked for second hand – new is £350), they have only with Intel graphic integrated. Can I use motherboard with Intel graphic with same CPU? Or maybe I have searched with wrong number? Is that motherboard number correct?

(Alienware 14) dedicated graphics card died after plugging in HDMI cable
This is my first post, and I haven't really done the forum thing in awhile, but it's late here and I'm just reaching out to see if I get any good advice before I have to wake up and deal with Dell phone support tomorrow :/
I have one of the new Alienware 14's, the base model. We had a good relationship for awhile, then recently I started getting some BSODs. Called Dell support, they figure it's the graphics card drivers so I uninstall and go back to the previously released drivers... things are working okay again. Then today I plug in my HDMI cable to play something on my TV and both screens go black... unplugged HDMI cable and now my computer has no dedicated graphics card. Not in the bios or anywhere. If I go to Device Manager, it's not there (unless I click on "Show Hidden Devices", then it comes up, and if you open it it says "Code 45: not currently connected to the computer"). I've tried a lot of different things so far... and I uninstalled everything NVidia on my computer... but I can't reinstall drivers 'cause all the installers says I don't have an NVidia card. So I have no clue what to do but I'm getting pretty frustrated :/
Any advice is welcome, especially if you dealt with this or similar.

XPS 15 Touch 9530 Sata or mSata
I just purchased an XPS 15 Touch 9530 Laptop. I got the one with the 512GB SSD.
In looking at the manual it very specifically shows a 2.5" Sata drive, but on my invoice it show 512GB mSata drive.
My gut tells me that in reality the battery is now bigger and they removed the 2.5" drive, but if that's true, then the manual is wrong and extremely misleading and I don't want the laptop.
I need to know which it is. This is important for 2 reasons.
1. mSata is not as fast as Sata
2. I want to swap out the 2.5" SSD drive with a 1TB SSD drive.
Any help would be appreciated

XPS17 Touchpad settings in Windows 7? PLEASE HELP!
My touchpad is getting extremely annoying with how sensitive it is. I swear I don't have my hands anywhere near the pad, and it thinks I click or swipe, or whatever...it's annoying. I can't type anything without having to go back and delete, retype, etc.
WHERE ARE THE SETTINGS? Don't send me to the mouse settings in the control panel, the Touchpad setting tab doesn't exist on this machine. So how do I change it? Better yet...can I disable all the click, and gestures, and only use it to move the pointer? That would be the best solution.

Keybd backlight is off
My Inspiron 15z is configured for keybd backlighting but since I updated to Win 8.1 for some reason light is off. The BacklitKB.exe application refuses the change the "Off" state of the backlighting even though the registry is set to on. What do I do to fix it?

Dell xps 15 l502x won't turn on
Hi,
I was using my Dell XPS 15 l502x when it turned off (didn't shut down just turned off instantly) and now it won't power on.
Battery shows full power but i get nothing when pressing the power button and it has now been off for 1 hour.
I have tried battery in + AC, battery in alone, no battery + AC and none of it works.
When the AC power is connected the charging light does not come on either.
No indication as to what the issue is, it wasn't hot, there wasn't a burning smell, had only been on for ten minutes, had a full battery, was AC connected and the AC adaptor is fine (it has the normal blue glowing light).
Any help or advice is appreciated.

Dell Inspiron 1501 battery problem
just replaced the battery for the above named laptop,has been bad for ages and only ran if on the power lead,new battery arrived,fired up the laptop without the lead and having loaded it showed 75% charge,have run this down to 10% and plugged in the power lead,no green charging light comes on ?? put the old battery in and with power connected the laptop charging light comes on,but not with the new battery,any idea's ??
but the annoying message on boot up that's been on since the previous battery change has now gone,leads been plugged in now for an hour it shows as running on AC but shows battery is still at 10%... Ian.

Recent i purchased Dell Ispiron 15R modell5537 date 08.11.13.Two day running OK.Third day when i power switch push laptop not run.No power in laptop.Several time i open battery and installed again then push power button but not run.Without battery direct connected power adapter then power switch on but fail.please provide us solution.

Factory restore question
Inspiron 17R 5720 running Win8.
Cannot access the Advanced Boot Menu. I want to return the laptop to the factory configuration and tapping 8F during post has no effect. Laptop boots into windows. This procedure is defined in the Reference Guide I downloaded from the Dell site listed under the Service tag number for the computer. It is labeled, however, as being for an Inspiron 13Z 5323. Don't know if that means anything.

XPS 13: cannot update BIOS
I want to update my BIOS from version A08 to A10 for my XPS 13 L322X. I don't have Windows installed, so I want to do it via FreeDOS. However, when I boot from USB and try to run the executable, I get the following error:
[Extractor] Unpacking files, please wait...
Error: Extract file failed.
The only thing that gets created is a temporary directory.
I have tried the image of A09 and even A08, but they all give the same error. I have also tried different FreeDOS images, but to no avail. There is more than enough disk space, so that can't be the issue. Switching from UEFI to Legacy also gives me a System CMOS Checksum Bad, but this probably an unrelated error.
How can I fix this?

Has someone noticed ghost images (screen burn-in) on Dell XPS 12 Duo?
I recently noticed ghost images on my Dell XPS 12 Duo. If a bright image on dark background stays on the screen for a couple of minutes and then I switch to somewhat dark background I can clearly see the previous image on the screen for some time before it fades away. Once I noticed it I started spotting even more subtle ghost images. I even managed to capture it in a picture with a low-end digital camera - http://imgur.com/a/RIYff (notice the tray icons clearly seen in the Win 8 start screen and even the facebook ad is visible). It is far more clear when you look at the actual screen and not on a picture. I already arranged replacement laptop (as I had other issues with this one) but yesterday I read news about mass defects in Apple's Retina MacBooks ( http://www.ibtimes.com/print/macbook-pro-retina-display-problems-apple-faces-class-action-suit-ghosting-issue-1129939 ) with practically the same issue. Now I wonder if it is possible that all Dell XPS 12 Duo screens have this problem.
So anyone else seeing this on his machine?

Inspiron 11 3000 Series (3137) 8gb RAM?
I'm looking to upgrade the ram on the newly released inspiron 11 3137. The laptop has one dimm slot that is also user accessible. It is currently only shipping with 2gb of ram. I realize the manual states it can support up to 4gb of ram, but has anyone tried adding a single 8gb stick?
It comes with win8 64 bit, and packs a recently released 4th gen haswell celeron. I'm thinking it may support an 8gb stick, but don't want to order without confirmation that someone has gotten it to work.

New XPS 13 (1 month old) suddenly not charging
So I bought an xps 13 about a month ago with Ubuntu (DE edition)
Since today when I plug in my adapter and boot I get the message 'adapter not recognized'. Charging takes forever (if at all). Red light in front of laptop flashes all the time when plugged in (is this normal?)
Any suggestions? I can't believe this is happening to a brand new laptop... and I can't miss it in the coming weeks as it is my work laptop.
I went in to the BIOS and it said 'unknown' on ac adapter.

E6520 is listed as compatible. It also have some drivers available Under the download driver page, but can't find anything about FingerPrint driver.
