Inspiron 15 5000 series issue

I have an Inspiron 15 5000 series laptop. It does not show any sign of startup. I do not see any light including the power light on the power button when I press it. There is a green light on the power adapter which confirms the power gets to the laptop. I tried removing the battery and removing the power cable and then holding the power button for a minute and later fixed the battery and the power and tried turning on... It plays dead. Any idea how to get this going?

RAM Upgrade Question

I have a Dell Precision M4500 that is giving me problems.

I am currently running Windows 7 Pro x64 with 4GB RAM ( (2)sticks of Samsung 4GB (2x2GB) 1Rx8 PC3 10600S -09-11-B2 Laptop Memory). I recently tried to upgrade one of the slots using (1) PNY - 8GB DDR3 1.6GHz DDR3. Once I replaced the RAM and started the computer, I got the prompt that windows failed to start and gave the options to run startup repair or start windows normally. Neither option worked. I ended up putting the original RAM back in and it worked fine. The new PNY 8GB stick is Single Channel with CL of 11. The existing RAM has a CL of 9 (not sure if that makes a huge difference). If anyone has any idea what the issue might be, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Ispiron 5559 projector problems

Just purchased this laptop, tried connecting it to our church projector (EPSON EX7210) which we were using with our previous laptop through a VGA cable, so in order to connect it to this new Inspiron 5559 I had to get a VGA to HDMI converter.

As I try to project the extended screen, the image shows fine, but I get alot of blinks both on the laptop screen as well as on the projector, (as if there was a loose connection), it makes it very difficult to get anything done.

I already reduced the resolution to 1280x768 as suggested by my projector settings, but the problem doesnt go away.

Can someone please provide some guidance on what I should do to fix this problem?

I highly appreciate your help!

best regards!

How do I change the two finger scrolling speed

$

Just received the XPS 13 9360 in the mail today. I am trying to figure out how to speed up the scrolling. I've been using a MacBook pro since 2011 and I am used to being able to scroll to the end of a page with one swipe. On this computer, I'll need wrist surgery after a month.

Everyone with other manufacturers seem to have ways of increasing the speed by opening up the software specific to the installed hardware, but Dell doesn't seem to have that. And the only scroll speed option that I can find in the mouse options is for a mouse, not a touchpad.

I really want this laptop to work. Please help me.

dell latitude e6320 laptop goes off at the slightest shake of the table or lifting when powered by battery alone

My dell latitude e6320 started misbehaving suddenly. I removed and fixed the battery back one day and then it refused to power up again, it came on eventually after much removing and fixing back exercises, then would go off if i lift the laptop or shake the table. this happens when am using the laptop without the ac adapter. When using the ac adapter, the battery shows full or charging and atimes, it wont charge, the yellow charge light flashes when i connect to the ac adapter. Now if i press the power button, it will want to start then go off when on battery power alone. but the system runs fine when using the ac adapter.

if i manage to start the system on battery power, the battery can last for 3/4 hours...but if i shake the laptop or lift it up it will go off immediately. i have checked the battery locks at the buttom...it looks okay.

What could be the issue n solutions.

Many thanks.

XPS 13 9360: BIOS 1.3.2 - "Fn Lock Options", the 2 Config Options are Switched

In the Dell XPS 13 (9360). Using the latest BIOS 1.3.2 (but the old previous BIOS version was the same).

If you go to the "Fn Lock Options" under BIOS, there are 2 options, they are listed as:

Lock Mode Disable/Standard   = The F1-12 Keys behave as function keys

Lock Mode Enable/Secondary = The F1-12 Keys control the secondary functions.

These options are Swapped. If you disable the "Fn Lock" and set the mode to "Lock Mode Disable/Standard", log into Windows, and Press F1, it will then MUTE the system. Even though it should act like an "F1" Key.

If you go back into BIOS, set the mode to "Lock Mode Enabled/Secondary", log into the system and Press F1, then the Help comes up.

The options are swapped on these two configure options. Please update the text in the BIOS to match the appropriate configuration. Thanks. I've included a ScreenShot of the BIOS options. "Fn Lock" does do what it describes (disables Fn-Esc). Doesn't matter if u turn this on or off. If you have it set up as I do below, the Fn Keys are set for the proper Function (F1-F12) operation. However, the text says it should do its secondary functions in this mode.

E6430 Won't install driver updates and won't turn on after sleep - please help

Okay, I just acquired this lovely unit: intel i5 3340 2.7, 8 G Ram, 128 G SSD.  2 problems:

1. The driver update feature on the site says I need a chipset driver update, about 129 MB, but it won't install after several attempts, even though it says successfully installed.

2. If I close the lid or put the unit to sleep, the lock screen will come on after opening the lid, but login screen will not appear.  I've been searching forums from Dell, Microsoft, etc, with no solution found yet.  This morning, the laptop took two attempts to boot, even though I had shut it down last night.  Similar thing - lock screen only.

Dell professionals - please advise!

XPS 9365 2-in-1 - Performance/Heat issues

i7/16GB RAM/512GB SSD. I'm attempting to run several different small Windows 10 VMs (one at a time) using VMWare Workstation 12.5. I can't use any of them; the entire system becomes nearly unusable, slow, and very hot the second I try to boot one up and continues until the VM is shut down. It appears the CPU is trying to burst (the new dynamic thermal tech?), overheating, and then settling at 0.38Ghz according to performance data in task scheduler.

If this dynamic thermal performance tech is the cause, is there a way to disable or fine tune this technology? It almost appears as if it's boosting too much and overheating/throttling the system. I don't need super fast performance on demand, I need consistent/modest/usable performance.

Thanks!

Dell Latitude E6430 Core i5 3320M, 2.6GHz v Core i7-3520M 2.9GHz

Hello Reader,

I recently bought an E6430 laptop with Windows 10 Pro and had about 3 months of trouble free use out of it until yesterday morning when it completely failed. It is definitely the motherboard, because whenever I connect the (or any other) AC Adapter to the laptop, the green light on it instantly turns off and the computer is still stone dead - no lights, no sound of spinning fans or HDD. Totally useless now.

I tried the recommended 'reset' steps where I removed the battery, AC Adapter, (and later: the HDD and RAM as well) and held the power on button for at least 30 seconds, before reconnectig the battery and trying to turn it on again.. Still dead. Nothing I tried worked, so conceded that I'm just another one of possibly 100's of thousands of similar disappointed 'victims' of this (all too common) fault with many post 2006 laptops (not only Dell). This is the third such experience I've had myself with the same total failure, since 2012!

So, quick solution (so I thought earlier yesterday): I went on ebay and bought a new laptop which I thought was identical, however I've since discovered the (newer) one I just purchased on ebay for $400.00 is not exactly the same as the model that just self-converted into a doorstop. That was an E6430 14 Core i5 3320M, 2.6GHz. The one I just bought to replace it with is an E6430 Core i7-3520M 2.9GHz. The plan is to simply remove the HDD from the doorstop (i5 3320M, 2.6 Hz) and place it into the new laptop I just bought.I didn't know until it was too late, that the one I'd just bought is a newer and probably a lot different (in terms of MB device drivers) than my original E64530 i5 3320M, 2.6GHz machine.

Therefore, my question that I really hope someone here can answer is:

Will my newly purchased E6430 Core i7-3520M 2.9GHz work with the HDD from my now failed and slightly older original laptop: E64530 i5 3320M, 2.6GHz?

I have performed the same HDD swap 'trick' in the past and 100% successfully with an older Latitude D610, when it lost its display.. When it died, (with just a bold white bar at the bottom where the Windows task bar used to reside), I just went on ebay and bought another D610 (for about $100.00), which was almost identical - the new one had Bluetooth, whereas the original with the failed display didn't.

All I had to do after inserting my failed one's HDD into the $100.00 one was automatically install the Bluetooth driver and presto - I had my same laptop back again in an instant, but with Bluetooth as well.

That was about 6 years ago and it lasted until I recently bought the new Doorstop. (And it still works now but its Windows XP).

However, I fear it may not be as simple as that with my current E6430 'dilemma'. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I.e. "No forget it, it won't work" or, "Yes that should still run ok, but you might need to run a driver update"....

Thanks for reading my (possibly too detailed) post.

Okay guys, I have a Dell Precision M6600. I am having a few issues with it, to begin with. This is my journey since buying it.

- It said "Plugged in not charging" So, I bought a new charger (not cheap) then plugged it in, charged fine. I unplugged it at 100% and then about 30 seconds later I get the "Plug into a power source" message.

- I bought a new battery for it (Also not cheap) and it's doing the exact same thing, plugs in, charging light comes on, windows says it's charging and it dies after aboout 1 minute from full charge.

Any ideas? Im stuck
