I keep bumping the buttons on the right side of my laptop that allow you to adjust volume. I have never had a laptop with volume buttons on the side, so this is driving me nuts!
There are already keys on the keyboard that do this, along with a volume slider in windows where it can be adjusted.
Is there any way to disable these hard buttons?
I have a Windows 7 Home Premium x64 on a Dell Inspiron 15 3521 and I was wondering... how do you disable the thumbnails for only the videos?
I already have a new driver installed last week and on the old driver, the videos, while browsing on my Explorer program, had no thumbnails while the photos and DVD video files do (and that's how I like it). Plus, swmedia.dll was not in my old driver (and the same applies to my new driver).
Any kind of help is highly appreciated.
I have been working on a Inspiron N4030 laptop and has been one problem after the other. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. When i first looked at this laptop it would not get power, no lights. So i replaced the power jack card (common to go out), and battery. That did not fix it, so i then replaced the mobo. It booted great and was pretty quick, well not even 3 boot ups and then new problem. When I would power it on, only the power and CD lights would flash and then continue to flash on about 2 second intervals. Then i tried using the FN and power to bypass POST and this worked only to get hung up at the Dell logo, which in turned created a new problem of 7 beeps. I found a fix to let it keep beeping for a few hours while wrapped up (to get warm), which i tried and it quit beeping after 30 minutes or so and was very warm, this fix also worked because i made it to the Windows screen, then locked up again.
At this point there are no beeps, the FN and power does nothing, and am back to only the power light and CD light flash every 2-3 seconds. Sorry for the long post, just wanted all details known.

I need to download and install drivers to a Latitude E6430 Windows 7 64-bit laptop without anykind of network/modem/wireless drivers. To be clear, I actually don't want wireless/network/modem drivers on the machine, but I'd like to update the video drivers, bios drivers, etc etc (everything but internet drivers basically). (I want this to be my offline laptop to avoid internet distractions)
However, when I go to download drivers from the website, it basically says the drivers will (A) automatically install and (B) when I tried to download anyway hoping I could just move them with my external hard drive it basically downloaded a Dell System Detect Launcher. How do I get the drivers piecemeal, put them on my external hard drive, and then install them on my offline Dell Laptop?
God help you if you are claiming a warranty on your product. The only question they will ask you is "What is your service tag number?" They won't listen to any descriptions you give them regarding the troubles you have with their product.
What's even great? Their customer service doesn't know English!
I have sent my laptop three times for service repair and each time it comes back with a new problem. Each time their technicians mess up the hardware.
I paid $1700 for this lemon and today I feel like either killing myself or burning this useless piece of *** and smashing it to pieces.
I sincerely wish every employee at Dell has to suffer the same level of trauma that I have suffered dealing with their customer service.

I request all the professionals over here to just let me know the problem and the solution for it.
Yesterday all of a sudden while browsing my laptop (Dell studio 1557 - win 10 - 64 bit - 4 GB Ram - 1 TB HDD - 512 Mb graphics) has stopped responding all of a sudden making a huge buzzing sound, with no option left I have performed force shutdown by pressing the POWER button for a long time.
Later I have tried to start but there is no Display, I can fell that the PC powered up as the cooling fan is rotating and they are no beeps sound immediately after power-on but after about 2-3 min time when ever a key is pressed on the keyboard i can hear a Beep sound (one beep for each key only while pressing) . This is the only thing i can feel and i am unable to know what is the problem.
- I have tried removing the RAM cleaning and putting it back but it didn't help me.
Hoping a solution for the problem kindly help me out.

I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 with an AMD Graphics card and it has the common problem of a broken DC jack. Works sometimes and sometimes it doesnt.
Where can I find out the part number for the power board without having to open up the laptop as I dont have to hand? I have checked on ebay for replacements and there seems to be more than one option with part numbers.
Also do Dell still sell these spare parts? The other option would be to desolder and solder on a new power port to the board

Has the Dell Feature Enchancement Package been discontinued? I have tried to install it on a Latitude E7270 (Windows 7 64bit), and it installs fine, but most of the GUI doesn't seem to work (I cannot turn of the WIFI).
When I search for DFEP the lastest version is 2.1.1 and is from 2013, has it been replaced by another simular product??

After this message came up on my Latitude E6400 I bought a new battery, which has been happily charging for a couple of hours. But, I'm still getting the time-of-day message. Do I need to do something fancier than just slotting in the new battery?
The keyboard on my new Latitude 3460 has a significant flex/ deflection when typing with normal pressure. Dell technican replaced the palm rest and keyboard. No improvement. He advised that this issue was something he had not encountered.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, were you able to have it fixed?

I will keep it short: In December my old laptop a DELL Inspiron (from 2013) running on Windows10 Home, suddenly received a Windows update and after it finished, when I logged on with my Microsoft account as per normal, then screen went black and started flashing.
In the end the computershop re-installed windows and since then this laptop has been working. But I have bought a new one, again an Inspiron with windows 10 Pro and have been using this for a week now. This morning, when I started it up.....it did an update and after I logged on.....the screen went black and flashing....Nothing I could do.....
What could be the cause of this? Is this windows providing me with the wrong updates? Some people have suggested it might be a non-compatible display driver which was installed, how can I avoid this happening again?
I have now re-installed windows again and all is working, but I don´t want to keep doing this....

Help... I flashed the BIOS on my Vostro 3500 and it failed now laptop is bricked it will not boot even from Usb.
I have purchased a new BIOS Chip and would like to know if anyone has a picture of where this Bios chip is located on the motherboard ( 0PN6M9 ) so that I can replace it.... Thanks in Advance Bob :(

256GB SSD + 1TB Hard drive
Geforce GTX 1050 ( appears to be a 1050 ti on my order comfirmation ).
1080p screen.
The real question is: Is it upgradeable to a Nvme M2 ssd later on ?, because the 4k screen version with the 512GB ssd has a nvme version in it.
Hope the 15 gaming does work pretty well.
Using a 17R 5720, which is 4 years and 5 months old, but still good battery life. Just lacks of the SATA3 msata and a good graphics chip.
I have a 32GB flash drive and the recovery disk is unable to be created because of errors. How do I create a recovery disk ? I have Inspiron 5558 with 64 bit Win 10 and 8 GB RAM.
I received my laptop yesterday and there is a buzzing sound coming from the laptop whenever I scroll or open a program.

Every time I power on my laptop it loads supportassist which performs its emmc tests and bleeps when its done. It tells me nothing is wrong and resets. Only when it resets it opens supportassist again. Why does it do it? But mostly how can I stop it from happening so that I can use my laptop?
I have an XPS 14 model L421X running Windows 10 Home. I've searched the forums, the Laptop General Hardware FAQ and tried all of the fan related suggestions, none worked. The fan runs on high from when I power up my XPS to when I power it down. The XPS is luke warm at best, not hot. My BIOS is up to date, the fan vents are clean, the Dell diagnostics give a clean bill of health, I had the thermal paste replaced a couple of months ago as part of a keyboard replacement, I've tried downloading various 3rd party fan speed controls (most wouldn't open or complete the download), the CPU usage varies from idling to greater than 90% during use however the fan is on high 100% of the time.
I'm posting because the fan running on high is annoying in the least and on average driving me crazy. It started a few days ago, nothing in the Laptop had been changed prior or during that time. I'm wide open to suggestions - maybe I need to have the fan replaced, however the diagnostics have not identified that. Suggestions?
