My dell inspiron N5110 has stopped to work. It even does't start at all. BIOS has not recognize HDD. I push from laptop and connect other PC's. But still not answer. I think HDD's noise is normal some chip is crashed . Please help me. I need restore some data from this HDD.
My HDD is Toshiba, 500GB, 7200RPM
I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64bit AMD system and I am a having problem creating a LiveCD. I have used 10.04 Lucid Linux on this laptop, the 32bit Intel install and have numerous problems with it lol.
My system is an AMD Athlon II P360 Dual Core Processor 2.3 GHz with 4 GB RAM. This is a 64bit system. I want to have a dual boot system. My other OS is Win 7.
This system also has a DVD-RW drive.
Any ideas or suggestions? 
When i am playing certain 3d games such as counter strike, cities in motion 2, portal 2. The graphics would freeze and the audio would start looping randomly midgame in the range of 10 mins to hours. There is a chance the screen would go all black and flicker back to normal and sometimes it would say the nvidia drivers have been restarted. ALT+CTRL+DEL would not work as it is completely locked. I would be forced to push the power for 5 seconds to restart the system.

It never crashes with company of heros, tropico 4, airline tycoon 3 which are pretty graphic intensive. I suspect my gpu is overheating or something to do with the fact that source engine is involved twice. Well.. cities in motion 2 is still kinda like betaware right now but it crashes the same way.
I tried the dell certified 285 nvidia drivers and the latest 314.22. The newer drivers are more likely to recover and restart itself. All other drivers are updated.
I added all games into optimus and selected nvidia gpu.
Also I noticed sometimes it would alt tab into blackness and then back into game randomly. I turned off steam community overlay and im not sure if it does that anymore.

I already backed up the files I need. My only question is how to do it? I own an Inspiron 17R N7110. I am thinking to just do the whole PC Restore by booting onto the Dell Factory Image Restore. If I do this will Windows 7 still be installed? Or do I need to get the disc.
I used Mozy home for all my backups I needed. I have Dell Data Safe but for some reason once I start it up no words appear. The application runs like normal but it says IDS_DS_ and some numbers instead of any real words.
Just in case you were wondering. I'm doing this because for some reason my Driver Store File is infected with a bunch of viruses and corrupt files.

I have Dell Inspiron 1525 model which I bought in 2008 December. Few days ago my hard disk corupted so I put new Toshiba 500 GB, 5400 rpm harddisk. But now my laptop becomes superslow. It even takes 20 minutes to startup even when there are no programs installed in it. Also after installing few program, my laptop would not even start, and the I have to format it again.
I am not able to understand what is wrong with it.

hi there got an issue with my new dell inspiron 15R 5512 laptop. usually when I right click on my desktop I see the configure switchable graphics card on the menu so i can choose which application to run on the integrated Vcard or the Dedicated one but now It doesn't show there. Is there any software I can use to reinstall it? my laptop has the intel HD 4000 integrated as well as the Radeon HD 8730M dedicated in it... please help..
Hi, I hope someone can help, i've been trawling the intertubes for days. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 running Windows 7 64 bit SP1. Recently I cloned my old original SATA hard drive for a larger Seagate (600Gb). All is fin apart from no windows update and an annoying request to activate. When i try to update I get a message that my service isn't running and I need to re-boot. It is running and a re-boot makes no difference. In System properties the laptop says it is activated but Windows thinks otherwise. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have new Dell Inspirion 7720-6167 Core i7 3630QM, 8192 MB RAM, Windows 8.
* Dell system test (from BIOS, all tests) - passed.
* Dell PC Checker (bundled windows application) - passed.
Windows Memory Diagnostic (aka WMD aka mdsched, recommended by Dell PC Checker):
standard tests - passed
extended test - freezing at 21% (no progress in ~6 hours).
After it i ran memtest86+ 3 times - no problems detected...
I know that "Windows Memory Diagnostic Freezing at 21%" is a popular issue in internet forums... So:
Is it Microsoft bug?
Should I wait WMD longer (one day or week for example ;-)?
Or It is problem with my Dell hardware?
Dell phone support said: we aren't responsible for MS tools, BUT:
- Dell site says "Dell recommend Windows 8"
- and It is Dell PC Checker, who recommend me to run WMD!
Hello - have a problem with my dell E5420, went to turn it on one morning and there was no charge on the battery and plugged into the charger - no joy. any ideas?
I have tried flea power with no luck
The charger light is on when connected to the power supply but when connect to the laptop it goes off - I have tried two different chargers and several power sockets.
There is no power on the laptop battery at all
The shipping date of the laptop was May 2012, I have provide service tag details, etc

I have ignored the issue as long as I can but I am too often losing my current state when I hibernate my pc.
The screen powers down which makes me think that the hibernation is happening as normal. However I still see the HDD power light remaining active for say 10 minutes.
The computer then throws a blue screen of death and then powers down.
When I reboot I get the message Windows did not shutdown successfully.
Windows will ask me to upload the crash dump file to Microsoft but I never get any kind of feedback :-(
This process is quite frustrating. Any thoughts?

I need help trying to see what might be wrong with the Dell Latitude 2110. When I close the lid power shuts off. You can not turn it back on unless you take out the batter and power supply then plug it back in. The power settings in windows xp are all to never shut off. I also replaced the power jack and it did not change. I did a dell test and it gave me a error 2000-0412 auxilary lcd cable not detected error 0412 and error 0411 lcd board not detected error code 2000-0411. I have a display and everything just have the power problem when shutting the lid. Thanks for your help.
I have a Dell E4300.
A few days ago 2 vertical lines appeared on my screen, now there are around 10, different colors and sizes.
When i press on the bottom of my display, where is the Dell logo, they dissapear.
I removed the display cover and, i think, the problem is the band in the middle, not the flex band connected to the motherboard.
Is there any way to fix this? Can the bottom of the display be changed? Is something like an inverter, but my screen is LED, so i belive that is a different mechanism. Is there any way to fix this without replacing the display?
I checked with an external monitor, it works fine.

A few days ago, the battery of my Dell Studio 1737 suddenly stopped charging. When I have the laptop on net power, the power icon now displays '8% available (plugged in, not charging).
Is this a case of a dead battery, or is something else broken on my laptop? If it's the battery, which one do I need to order? I can only find a 'Dell 85 WHr 9-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery for Dell Studio 1745/ 1747/ 1749 Laptops' but according to the system configuration I have a 6-cell 56W/Hr Lithium-Ion battery installed. Can I just switch to the 9-cell battery?

Yesterday- I was tweaking my computer and accidentally started a backup and somehow directed it to Recovery drive. I did not raelize my mistake until the screen popped up and said unable to complete backup due to not enough room on drive. However now my Recovery drive is showing up RED and says I only have 4.71MB of space left. Is there some way I can undo the idiotic mistake?? I know I should have been paying closer attention to what I was doing. I believe it happened when I changed the backup method from my Nero unit- to the hard drive.

Recently my Dell Inspiron 1545 screen is showing green patches. They are only increasing day by day and after rubbing the screen they disappear for some time before appearing again. I tried some software solutions like pixelhealer etc but no use.
Is there any other way to eliminate dead pixels? Any idea how much the hardware replacement will cost ?
So I tried a different forum and got no response. I am hoping someone from Dell can answer a question. I was using my laptop last night and it froze in the middle of a program. This has been happening fairly frequently since I updated to Windows 7 about 2 months ago. (3-4 times a week) Sometimes it fixes itself, but other times it requires a forced restart. I restarted the computer, but now it will not boot at all, no post, nothing other than the cd drive spinning up and the power light turning on. There were no beeps or flashes, the HDD light comes on for about 2 seconds and then turns off and the system hangs there indefinitely. I have tried removing the cmos battery, reseating the memory, pulling the hard drives, booting without memory and none of this changes anything, except the HDD light does not come on when there are no hard drives present (no surprise). I replaced the motherboard about one year ago through Dell, but I can't figure out what else might be the problem since I basically removed every piece of hardware I could get at without completely diassembling the computer. Does anyone have any thoughts? Must I replace the motherboard again?
As a side note, when I sent the computer off to have the motherboard replaced the first time the wifi card worked fine. Upon it's return the wifi cuts out intermittently and requires that I disable it and use an external wifi antenna which works perfectly fine. Is it possible that the motherboard they installed could have been bad or old from the beginning?
I have removed the thermal assembly from my D630.
Cleaned it
Replaced the processor.
Now I am ready to reassemble. (It has the Intel graphics chip FWIW).
The thermal assembly is spring loaded... how tight should I tighten the screws? Should I tighten the screws until they bottom out, just engage.... how tight is too tight? What happens if I overtighten?
