I have a Dell pc (studio 1558 ).....few days back i put a password on its BIOS settings....when it was done then i restarted but it dint asked me for the password... so i dint noted that password.......and now its password protected and I dont remember that ......
i have searched a lot and tried so many things but the password.is not getting removed......only it's settings changed to default.............

Did all kind of test like " powercfg -energy -output ...."...updated my BIOS too
Takes long time to start also has display issues like getting stuck if i open my pc ... guessing it is due to the battery or adapter or BIOS problem.
& here's another problem have 0% available & your software only does updates if it has 10% or more battery or something like that...
Would be much obliged if u fix this *** problem?

I even did a restoration of the whole computer and the touch screen hasn't started working. I started having issues when I checked into the Device Manager and noticed that under Human Interface Devices the HID Touch screen (along with a few under it) were marked as "hidden". When I did the restore I thought it would fix the problem but it only seemed to completely get rid of it?
Instead of it being marked as hidden the only things I have under Human Interface Devices is the two options for Airplane Mode Switch.
Please help.
I have a Inspiron 1501 (with Linux Mint 17) I used as secondary computer the last 4 years through college, whenever I was watching TV or movie or editing on my iMac I would use it. It ran great up until today, when I turn it on the screen is just black. The computer turns on - the round power light is on, the light above the keyboard flash twice, and it sounds like the fan is running and the bottom is slightly warm. I have used 2 AC adapters (mine and one from a friend who knows theirs works) and nothing (the light that signals power from the AC adapter is also on).
The only thing I've done to it is to replace the battery 2 years ago.
Any suggestions?

My HID doesn't have the touch screen selected anymore... I restarted it and it isn't working and the touch screen in Device Manager isn't there anymore.
Recently when I try and turn my laptop on it makes this loud beeping noise .
Today, completely out of the blue, the charge indicator for the battery in my laptop started flickering on and off, even when not plugged in. It's not any sort of code it just flickers completely randomly at varying intervals of time. Please, any help would be appreciated! I've looked around the internet for hours but the one solution someone on these forums had (to drain the battery and let it charge to full) didn't work for me and I have no idea what to do. I'm running windows 10 if that helps and I've tried to restore my computer from before it started happening to no avail.
I have E6420 model with Windows 7, very old bios and with Sierra Wireless WWAN card. Everything was working fine.
Before installing Windows 10, I decided to upgrade the bios. I first had to install A05 bios and then A23.
After this, device manager does not see any device releated to WWAN. If I install Dell or Sierra software, they claim the hardware is not present. Any ideas? I do not see any unknown devices, so I don´t see any hardware IDs either.

when i browsed on DELL site by Service Tag , i found that the warranty started 29/1/2016 and will finish 29/1/2017
so i want to know how it started before my buy day? and if that mean it was used before i bought it?
i am from Cairo - Egypt , and they said i will get 1 year since i bought and that no problem to go to them by it to cheek it
but i want to understand how it started before i buying it.

Veo que muchos tienen el mismo problema, desde que instale windows 10 mi inspiron 15z 5523 murió,
dos opciones o se escuchan los 3 pitidos tan temidos, o directamente la pantalla se queda negra.
Cuando la lleve al service me dijieron que era problema de la mother, pero que no la podían importar a Argentina así que consulté otro service... ahi me dijieron que debía tener alguna corto, así le llevaron la mother a soldar y me la devolvieron sin hacerle nada porque no le encontraron ningún problema.
Investigando encontré que podía hacer desarmarla y quitando la corriente de los capacitores podía hacer que reviva,
Hice los siguientes pasos
1 quité la batería CMOS (para eso hay que sacar el teclado y la tapa de arriba de la notebook)
2 Apagué la batería con el interruptor que trae en el mother
3 Apreté el boton de power para drenar los capacitores de la mother
4 Dejé la compu en ese estado durante un rato (10 a 15 minutos)
5 Puse nuevamente la batería CMOS y activé la batería del portatil
6 cerré y volví a poner todo en su lugar
7 apreté power y arrancó perfecto como si nada. (en el proceso de arranque recuperó una versión anterior de windows)
Usé la maquina sin que se apague por unos días y funcionó impecable, sin tirar ningún tipo de error ni nada,
El otro día se ve que se actualizó windows y nuevamente el mismo problema,
Cual es la solución que plantean... vi que a mucha gente le pasa lo mismo... yo necesito la compu para trabajar no puede vivir desarmandola cada vez que tenga que reiniciarla.
Por lo pronto pedí una lenovo de backup y que, por suerte, funciona perfectamente. El tema es que la tengo que devolver y no tengo con que trabajar. Me siento profundamente estafado y defraudado por dell, tanto en su service telefonico, como por su service presencial.
Nadie te da una respuesta, nadie te ayuda, me tuvieron mas de dos meses la notebook en el service oficial de Argentina y no fueron capaces de hacer nada, son un papelon.
Por favor si alguien sabe como puedo resolverlo, agradezco la ayuda

Hi! my Dell Inspiron 14 5000 series wont turn on. The power light turns on when connected to the power supply. I tried to disconnect the charger, removed the battery and held the power button for 30 seconds. After reconnecting the charger and battery, i tried to turn it on again, but the power light only lasted for 5 seconds and there's no beeping sound. My laptop still wont turn on. What could I possibly do? What could possibly be the problem? My laptop is already out of warranty, how much would it cost if repaired?

Hello, I have a pair of XPS 14z (L412z) laptops and I need help identifying part numbers/where to buy two motherboard components.
The first is the FV2 fuse that I removed and jumped on one motherboard. It's about 3mm in length and marked with a K. I was having trouble with a replacement LCD for one of the laptops where the backlight wasn't turning on and this was close enough to the inverter/LCD cables that I thought it was the problem. From what I could find, backlight fuses are often 32V and 3A, but I can't find any like that which are marked K. I think it may be 1.5A or 2A from similar K-marked littelfuse products, but I have no idea and need some help as I would rather not keep it jumped.
(The LCD problem has since been resolved as some weird act of God where both the original and replacement LCDs failed to work while the one from the second laptop does in fact work with this motherboard.)

The second part I need help with finding is the ZIF retaining flap for the HDD connection. I have no idea how I lost it, but I can't find it anywhere. The original is a little over 17mm long and fits 12 pins(?). I would really appreciate a suitable replacement part that I could order online, but I would also settle for anything one step above tape. Below are pictures of the original that can be seen in the other laptop (black flap for JHDD1) - also, seems to be marked with 25A.

How many people have posted about this problem for so many years w/o a Dell solution? I feel like a total idiot for buying Dell. If you are reading this, it is because you likely have the problem too. I encourage you to help others by posting truthful Dell reviews on as many web pages as possible so that we can warn and possibly spare others from having our Dell experience.
I have a new (refurbished) retail $1,000+ Dell Inspiron i7 laptop that cannot be unplugged without the AC adaptor not capable of recharging the computer. The error message stating similar words, "Plugged-in not recharging cannot recognize ac adaptor." I must wait until the battery drains to between 0-5% before the laptop will accept the AC adaptor charge. It is a dell ac adaptor. When the battery gets to less than 80% the performance of the computer declines in an effort to extend the battery time. In effect, if I accidently use my laptop as a laptop by unplugging it --the computer will not function normally until I let it drain to approximately zero. Then, I plug the AC adaptor back-in and just be patient until the computer kicks-in to recharge.
The "solutions" on this form do not work. YouTube solutions do not work. I have spent countless hours getting the run around from technical support "we cannot fix this problem and we will not honor the warranty and we cannot give you direction on how to get this problem fixed. Please hold. Would you be interested in buying more products? we stress that we are empathetic and sorry and we will do nothing (code language you are an idiot for buying Dell)." --give me a break!

Im pretty sure this is the right one. I want to get a new one but hesitant to buy off ebay as im not sure what i'm getting is the right one. I have nvidia on this, just not sure of the version.
How do I go about getting this laptop repaired....any advise will help. I really miss this thing.
BTW: I do know it would beep 7 times and would never boot up....i had a customer service number that I called when it happened but Ive moved twice since then and can't find my notes.

Am I the only one noticing a really noisy fan and a tremendous heating of the rear part, especially when using it on the lap/couch?
I know you're supposed to always put it on a flat surface, but it's a 2in1...The noise, especially, is sometimes almost unbearable, even on a light workload like browsing the internet or watching a movie.
Asked on other forums, it seems like a common issue. Do you think it's a defect, will Dell fix it ot am I supposed to just deal with it? I updated the BIOS to the last version available, but it doesn't seem to help.
