To Dell online community:
I have a problem with my Dell XPS 15 L501,
It goes to sleep after I put the screen down, and when I lift it back up a half hour or an hour later, nothing works.
I can still click my user icon to go to the desktop, and the mouse cursor still moves, but nothing else works. If I had a tab open in chrome and I tried opening wikipedia or youtube or something it would not load. When I try clicking my documents icon on the taskbar it does not open. The computer's clock still works though. When I click ctrl-alt-del it would not open, and later an error message will appear saying that the task manager will not open. The only way to get the computer operating again would be to force shut it down via the power button and then starting again. The fan was still running, and all the operating lights were still on.
Does anyone have any idea of what is going on and what a possible solution would be?
My laptop is nearly three years old, I have an adequate cooling pad always on which keeps the cpu temperature at below or around 50 degrees celsius on idle or to around 80 degrees celsius on intensive games. I also believe my drivers are up to date. (Dell's website says I do not need to update any drivers.) This problem has first started happening around two months ago, increasing frequency until now where I do not bother to put the laptop to sleep anymore.
I appreciate any help or suggestions! =D
