7370 charging issues, Dell support unable to resolve; someone please help!!

Bought a fully loaded 7370 from the outlet to replace my MacBook 12 inch that seems to be unreliable when it comes to connecting anything to its only USB-C port.  Very happy with price and hardware but have a serious issue with charging it.

- Incapable of charging past ~54%, once it hits this level I get 'plugged in, not charging'
- Behaves this way with the supplied AC USB-C adapter, or my WD15 hub

..Dell advised me to downgrade my BIOS (I'd updated to latest as per forum advice) but unable to do this due to hardware preventing downgrades.  They also tell me categorically that the WD15 doesn't support charging anyway, which I don't think is true but that's another matter.

Would love someone from Dell to pick this up, I can IM the support ticket number, and resolve it.  I want to keep the laptop but it has to work properly.  I'm very close to returning it and just buying another MacBook which is what everyone is telling me I should have done in the first place.

Thanks in advance!

What is the voltage signal pin on DA230ps00-0

Can anyone help me what is Dell's XPS 1730 AC power adapter signal pin voltage for the battery is. There should be 2 voltages - 19v + ? - on the end of the connector that goes to the laptop. Since the original DA230ps00-0 no longer work I cannot measure the voltage. Since I'm overseas and not in the US, I cannot find DA230ps00-0. So what I did is buy Alienware power adapter GA240PE1-1 with a rating 240 watts 19.5v 12.3amp and 8volt signal pin for the battery and replace GA cable for the DA cable. But I think the signal voltage for the DA adapter is greater than the GA adapter and now I have no voltage in the signal pin of DA240PE1-1 after briefly charging the battery.

Dell Inspiron 7437 - Trouble starting - performed multiple tests

My laptop (Inspiron 7437) will not boot up/ turn on. I have done the following:

- made sure a/c charger is fully plugged in (and I used multiple outlets, and the light is illuminated)

- disconnected the battery for 30 seconds while a/c is unplugged. Tried to reboot, and it worked up to the "battery is crucially low, press f1 to continue" and then it went back to its usual not turning on.

- tried starting the laptop while the battery is unplugged and the a/c charger is plugged in, and still does the same thing.

- unplugged the battery, held power button for 30 seconds,  reconnected the battery and then tried booting, no luck.

- unplugged and reconnected a/c power charging port. Still nothing.

The following is my best description of the issue:

Where the charging and battery level indicator lights are (two on the front left of the base of the computer). When I press power, both lights turn on, and the keyboard flashes on then off, then the left light slowly fades and just before the light turns off, the right light flashes and they both go off. If I hold the power button down for a couple seconds, the keyboard lights up, stays lit, and you can hear the components turn on and power up, then the whole computer and keyboard shut off after a few seconds. This happens whether I have the power button pressed or not. My feeling is the charging port needs to be replaced, but would appreciate a second opinion. I contacted Dell Support via email and they simply said to call, but I am abroad in the U.K.  until the 9th of January,so email and this message board are my only hope. Thanks in advance

need help how to fix it, if it was compability issue my opinion the ram wonnt boot up when i set to 4096 maximum memory in boot option.

Hi,

A little emergency here. Pretty much as the title says - today my precision laptop M3800 strated to smell really weird like when some electronic parts or batteries are burning you know? And after inspection I noticed 2 bubbles undwr the carbon on the underside of the laptop (please see attachemnt), they dont seem to be filled by anything, but they were getting bugger and it smelled really bad so I immediatwly switched it off. I think after touching it I accidentally touched my eye and it got irritated. Anyone experienced anything like this before? Shall I just contact support? Thanks for help.

Dell 14z 5423 freezing originally, now graphic distortion as well.

Hello All,

So for years I've been having trouble with my Dell 14z 5423 on and off, It started with the display driver stopped responding, but would recover on it's own and seemed to be okay if I used the Microsoft basic display driver not Intel's until I moved to Windows 8 and 10 and the thing would just randomly freeze on me. It was intermittent enough for awhile that I put up with it as the laptop was out of warranty. About a month ago the thing started freezing way more often and when checking the event logs it appears that the display driver quit responding. I then used Dell's stress test and the computer would occasionally freeze or shut off.

One night I let either the normal or graphical stress test run over night and was woken up by loud beeps coming from the room where the computer was. I originally thought it was cause it was running on battery as I believe there's a warning when the battery is about to die so I plugged it in and went back to bed. I believe it was about 2 hours later or so the thing woke me up beeping again so I got up and turned it off.

The next morning I tried to replicate the beeps but no luck. I downloaded speedfan to see if it was possibly shutting itself down and it did seem to be running a bit hot so I opened the laptop up and reapplied thermal past on the heat sink and cleaned the fans out. No change in the temp it was running at and still had the freezing. After reassembling it I noticed it I pushed on the top case near where the screen cable plugs into the MB the image on he screen would get lines in it. I noticed when I took it apart that the screen cable did seem to be rather kinked so I figured to $10 I would buy a new screen cable and give that a try.

After replacing the cable it doesn't seem to need to be touched in the same spot on the board but if you let the base flex at all the image will get garbled and freeze. I wanted to hook the computer up to an external display to see if it behaved the same which I did and even when booted into the BIOS the image got garbled on both the external display and the laptop.

I wanted to try disconnecting the screen cable from the mobo and see if it had trouble with an external monitor still but without the cable plugged in the dang think keeps beeping at me warning that the screen has been disconnected.

So I'm starting to think that the graphics chip on the mobo is bad but does anyone else have any advice on this or did I miss anything critical in the my troubleshooting?

TIA

my machine is less than 2 months old and i'm ready to chuck it.... one of the reasons i got this machine was the built in fingerprint reader which doesn't work 90% of the time. I also use Roboform for my passwords which on my old latitude would use the fingerprint reader to sign in. This machine won't do that.

Any ideas to get this working?

Laptop won't turn on correctly

Hello, I have an Inspiron 3531 I believe? I don't know much about computers but I think that's what it is. When I go to turn on the computer it either constantly loads on the dell screen and then eventually after leaving it for a while it shuts off. Other times it will load to a black screen with just the cursor and will shut off if I leave it. There were two times where I got to a menu where it told me that the system could not start correctly. The first time I tried to troubleshoot and then it froze but I could still move the cursor. The second time I tried to continue to Windows 9.1 and it did a similar thing. After that when I turn it on it tells me it's scanning and repairing but it's always at 100% and never does anything except turn off. I just ran a diagnostics test from the boot menu and it says there have been no problems found with the system so far so I'm unsure as to why this is happening. If anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it, my laptop was running fine last night and then next time I started it up it just didn't work.

Built-in Dell defect?

$

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series laptop, with a touch screen about half a year ago and have had nothing but problems with it.

I have spent hours and hours one the phone with Dell, who finally acknowledged a defect.

When attempting to use the laptop, small "circles" appear at the bottom of the scree, bouncing up and down.

This is followed by the rapid-fire opening and closing of various windows on the screen, rendering the unit unusable. Dell had me send it to them for repair, and I received it back today. It's doing the same thing, no one tested the unit prior to sending back to me.

I am very frustrated and greatly regret buying this unit as it remains defective.

What options can Dell offer me, given that this unit has never worked, despite many, many hours of back and forth, which I am no longer prepared to do, given the lack of results so far.

I have video showing how this unit  malfunctions. This is a nightmare.

Dell Inspiron 15r 5520 powers off immediately when plugged in

Hello,

Another post to show how bad dell hardwares are:

My laptop powers off suddenly whenever I plugged in the charger. When it runs in battery, it is fine. But as soon as I plugged in, it powers off.

I purchased new battery ---> no change, still powers off when AC adapter plugged in.

I replaced AC adapter ----> no change, still powers off when AC adapter plugged in.

Removed battery and when run only in AC power---> powers off.

Now what I have to do? Replace the mother board?

Let me tell you how bad your hardware *** is:

1. Back in 2012, when I purchased this I got mic/camera not working issue. Called Dell and they replaced the entire mother board for this. ( since it was in warranty, I was quite OK with that )
. But wondered how bad the hardware is. i.e within six months of purchase hardware failure.

2.  Once when the warranty got over, immediately after one year another issue came up. It won't charge the battery while plugged in. This time I contacted Dell and they replaced the whole motherboard (sigh!!!) for this. They charged INR 10,000 for this.

3. Next after a year after the above incident happend, they keyboard didn't work. I purchased a new one and replaced it myself.

4. Now, when I plug the AC adapter to charge the laptop, it immediately powers off. I'm 100% sure again I have to change the motherboard. ( I'm not sure the mother board for this model is in stock or not ) .

This is a series of hardware failure within 4 years. I heard that Dell gets the faulty motherboard and refurbish and then gives back to customers. That is the reason for these hardware failures. MAN, how many times one has to change Motherboard?

PS: I will never ever recommend dell to any one and won't buy one myself in the future due to these above mentioned shits.

Missing Power Plans brand new xps13 (Heat issues)

G'day,

Looking for guidance re: a really hot machine and missing power profiles/control.

I just received by new Dell XPS 13-9360 Core i5-7200U X2 2.5GHz machine today.

I've been modifying power options, and found that I ONLY have a balanced profile with very little control over settings. I have no access to what others have mentioned, such as power saver or high performance. All I've been able to view or change is setting options to sleep, hibernate, or turn off.

I've accessed this through the control panel and the intel graphics settings.

I only use laptops on a hard surface. It was shrink wrapped new, so the vents are likely not blocked by dust.

My main concern: Using only word and a web browser, my keypad is already running quite warm. I'm not a gamer, I haven't been watching videos, but within 20 minutes the keyboard itself is really warm. The fan is running continually. Since the entire point of my laptop is to do a lot of word-processing writing, email, and research browsing, this doesn't bode well for my main source of work. I purchased the xps13 for great battery life, but it seems to only be granting about 4.5 hours.

What are my options or possible solutions?

Dell XPS 13 L321x - Bad MB

Hi,

I recently brought a Dell XPS 13 L321x from the company I used to work for (It only cost £20). I've been looking around online for a replacement MB and I'm struggling to find one in either the UK or Europe. I wondered if anyone could tell me if Dell still stock these, I believe it's a 2012 build. If Dell still stock them, do you know how much a like-for-like would cost? I can provide any details such as ST or ESC via PM if a Dell rep is able to help or point me in the right direction.

Many thanks
