Hello,

We just bought two laptops and both experience the same issue. While using the touchpad, suddenly, they start generating false clicks and that messes around with anything you do using touchpad. My colleague is a windows user while I am an Ubuntu user. While in Windows it seems to appear less often, in Ubuntu is like a click fest. The biggest issue is that after this anomaly starts the clicks are generated even if you don't use the touchpad. Try to watch an youtube while this is happening ....

As I cant seem to get in direct contact with Dell Support I hope for a response here.

My question is: Should we wait for a BIOS update in the next couple of days or should we return the units back for replacements?

Just opened up my laptop this morning to find to my horror the bottom section of my screen has a brown tinge to it as below:

Did I somehow apply pressure to the screen to cause this? Could it have been anything else?

Just started today - touchsceen no longer works - and the cursor, when left alone, jumps from the spot I had it in to the center of the screen near the top. The problem persists in Safe Mode.

Here's what I have tried:

• restarted
• virus scan both in regular and safe mode
• uninstalled all human interactive device drivers and restarted
• uninstalled usb root hub drivers and restarted
• system restore to three days ago when all was fine

No good yet - any suggestions?

So, the recent XPS models are so thin that they can't include wired LAN and enough USB ports. 

I've got the WD15 at work. It was awful at first, frequent USB disconnects and even system hangs. After the latest BIOS and drive updates, USB mouse and keyboard connection seems stable with the laptop in the Airplane mode (haven't tried), and Ethernet is stable too. 

At home I've got a small Aukey CB-C17 3x USB3 plus Ethernet hub where USB appears stable too, but Ethernet keeps disconnecting and reconnecting once in a few minutes. The USB Ethernet is shown as a a Realtek USB GbE Family Controller in Device Manager. I've tried updating the driver twice, once via Windows Update and once from the Realtek site (no driver at Aukey), with no apparent effect. Any Ideas?

I would like to know how to keep the XPS 15 9550 from resizing open windows at various events, such as turning off the display after a few minutes of inactivity, lid close, going to sleep/hibernate, when changing from AC to battery and vice versa...

I would also like to keep windows open on the external display in case it disconnects for a while, the way I had it set up on my previous Lenovo laptop. Currently they are all moved to the primary window in case of a disconnect - and not only an actual disconnect but also upon entering or waking from sleep etc. It is a pain having to redistribute 10+ windows back to the external display...

reformat and reinstall, connect to the Dell support and got the latest drivers. all installed properly yet the mouse cursor still jumps around on the screen. it's virtually useless as it is. I'm sure there is a fix for this?

So I won this laptop on Ebay for about 250, refurbished and all stock stuff. Downside was that it only has 32BG of Hard Drive space and 2 gigs of ram. I looked up what it needs and everywhere I looked, even Dell's own product page, said I can upgrade the ram to 4GB. Ordered the specific ram it needed, opened it up....... soldered ram....? No slots anywhere to add or replace anything. Even the HDD wasn't a thing, it was a tiny chip soldered into the motherboard. What blew my mind the most was that there is a hard drive caddy slot for a laptop drive with absolutely no way of plugging one in. I learned the hard drive space can only be upgraded via another motherboard, but I am still able to upgrade the ram using what I bought. My question is, how? I see now slots to plug it in, and I have taken this thing apart down to the screen looking for them. Is Dell leading me on? Because I've had three tech support members all tell me I can still upgrade.

Recently I got an update to Dell digital delivery on my laptop --Latitude E5540-.  Since it was installed, each time I start the machine or awake it from sleep I see a box on my screen that says Dell Digital Deliver 3.1 and looks like it is trying to connect.  After a few minutes (maybe as long as 10 mins) a message is given that says Dell Digital Delivery has not been able to connect.   I believe I had a version of Dell digital delivery on the system prior to this since I had to download and install software I purchased from Dell when I bought the machine new.  However I did not have this problem before the new version was put on recently.  Should I just remove it?  Given that it is a Dell program would the windows remove take care of it or do I need to do some sort of Dell uninstall? Is it then possible to reinstall from the driver list for my machine?

Note that I am able to connect to the internet just fine with all other programs.

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

When I load Adobe Premiere and start to import video's the App will hang.  This also happens on other adobe products at different stages.  Normally loading images or files.  

Then I undock the computer, and everything returns to normal.  Once it loads, I can re-dock and continue working. 

I've gone through and set all power saving settings to Max performance.  

I contacted Adobe support and they say to contact Dell Support.  

Sumeet:

In this case you will need to check with Dell for any compatibility issues with drivers between Adobe apps and docking station

 

Any suggestions on what to try next?

I have an Inspiron 15 5567 laptop and want to exchange the HDD with a Samsung Evo SDD (I believe it is 7 mm).  Will I need a bracket or spacer for the drive to fit in the bay?

mine is dell 7559 and recently my apps start crashing after 2mins or 1 hour of usage. suddenly stopped working like that. and after awhile it will go on bluescreen. PAGR FAULY IN NONPAGED AREA, MEMORY MANAGEMENT. stub recvd bad date some of my apps stop working while usig them. it's really a cause for concern. i updated my firmware - still the same problem i reset it - still same i have installed a TB of WD hard disk when i purchased it like 3 months ago and had no problems however, 4 days ago i started to hear a click noise at times. do u think this has something to do with this? please help. it's really frustrating

I would like to install Win7 on a XPS 13 9360 (no Win10 due to company policies), but it seems like a I'm heading into a road of torment. I see some people have partly succeeded with downgrading the XPS 13 9650, do anyone have some tips and tricks for downgrading the 9360?

Hello. My name is David. I have a Dell Inspiron 5737 which has i7 4500u 8gb ram, 1tb hdd and is supposed to have amd radeon hd 8870m graphics. But when I launch amd autodetect to install the radeon drivers, it says "We were unable to find a driver for your system. No supported AMD hardware was detected."

I don't know if it has a does not have the radeon gpu. Any help will be appreciated.

I have a user with an XPS13 9343, about 1.5 years old.  Windows 10 x64. This morning her battery state when plugged in is "94% not charging". A different charger produces the same result.  Restarting or shutdown-start has no effect. Diagnostics show no problems, but do show that it knows it's plugged in but the charger is idle (see ).

I've replaced batteries in XPS13's before, but is there some way I can test to see if the battery is the problem or the charging circuit is the problem?

Hello fellow Dell users,

For you who are using Dell Inspiron 1464, I desperately need your help now :(

I am using a 7-8 years old Dell Inspiron 1464 laptop.. but it suddenly crashes about 3 months ago. When I wanted to power it on, nothing happened. No power light, no fan turning, blank screen, nothing happened. I sent the laptop to a service guy recommended by friends, and he verdicted that the BIOS is corrupted. Since that time, there's no progress as he cannot find any suitable version of BIOS for my Inspiron 1464. I asked if he downloaded BIOS from Dell support page, and he said it was not suitable since it is not "bin" format. One way is to find another laptop with similar specs with mine and copy the BIOS from it.. So, here I am hoping that one of you guys can do me favor..

Copying the BIOS can be done via windows, just you will need to install a small program first, then run it to copy the BIOS in your laptop. Links to download the BIOS backup toolkit (at least one should work)

Please reply if you are using Dell Inspiron 1464 too, especially the one that is about 7-8 years old with i7 processors and dedicated 2GB GPU..
Even if your 1464 has different specs, I'd still like to ask for favor to copy the BIOS, who knows, right..

Hi

i've installed a new palm rest for my dell e6440 with the USH. the fingerprint reader, the smart card reader and the NFC reader are present and connected to the USH but nothing is visible in the device manager (also no "unrecognized devices" or similar ). I've activated the trusted module in the bios. what's the problem?

I just got a Inspiron 17 inch Laptop with Windows 10.   When signing in, it has the options of a pin or camera verification   However  I always have to use a pin as it  cant turn the camera on  ( yet the camera works in other applications)

Can anyone help ?

My Inspiron 5759 laptop has shut off randomly several times. 

On all occasions I was picking it up to move it.  A couple of times I was holding it with one hand. I noticed that when I do that, the case flexes a significant amount. 

Could the case be flexing enough that the battery contacts loose connection?

Anyone else have issues with this computer shutting off?
