Hi! I recently installed windows 10 in my computer (Dell vostro3460), but i got a problem : my computer does not fully shutdown when i click the shut down button in the start menu, it just closes apps, screen turns black, but the pc is still on and i can say this because keyboards lights are still on (power one, wifi one) and i am forced to press the power button for 5 seconds to force a shutdown and then turn it on again. I searched on internet some solutions and the most common problem seems related to the fast startup feature, i disabled it but the problem keeps going, i really don't know what to do, anyone has a solution for this? (sorry my english by the way)

I have a feeling that my Graphic card is about to die... Screen freezes sometime and the computer seems to be still running. It was saying for a while : "the graphic card has stopped working but has recovered" but now it stopped saying that and just freezes.
Also sometimes when having it opened for a while and having lunched and used application requiring the graphic car to work I can see frozen pixels or stripes of frozen pixels in a video.
My question is if I have to replace it would it be possible to go for an upgrade? I currently have Gforce 840M

I did a clean format of my dell inspiron14 3452 . I am trying to install it back now using USB botable flash drive. It keeps telling me windows can't be install on this partition. Can any one help me out.
I have a Dell Studio 1458 and a while back it started locking up with no warning and no error messages after. I'll be working away and everything will freeze and a few seconds later, the fan will kick on loud. I've had it tested for overheating, had the heatsink re-applied, and replaced the hard drive - which helped for a while. When I did this, I also upgraded to BIOS A07 and restored everything from scratch.
About a month later, it's back again but I have a new clue. When I run the Dell Pre Boot Assessment Test, it locks up every time at the Memory Test. Literally locks up. Doesn't give an error message or allow me to exit - I have to power down with the button. Every time I restart the laptop, it's fine again. It doesn't recognize there was an issue and there are no events logged or dump files created. I recently replaced the memory and it has not made any change at all so I'm at a loss. What would be causing the periodic freezes, not recording any events and locking up the memory test on the Pre Boot Assessment Test every time?? Thanks!

I own a XPS 13 laptop and type c dock, I have erratic mouse movement and keyboard issues from these external components when used through the dock via the USB ports. If I leave the laptop slightly open the issues go away. Also if I plug them directly into the USB ports on the laptop I also get no issues. This is my current work around although for a brand new laptop and dock having to plug in 3 things rather than just the docking station doesn't make much sense.
I have tried the keyboard and mouse on other PC's with no issues.

Thats my problem, i cannot make work the turbo boost on a laptop latitude e7450, i try to install the turbo boost application but it shows me one error saying "ITBM Driver not available. exiting aplication"
I cannot install the Intel(R) Turbo Boot Max, it shows a message "ITBM Driver not available"
It's hard to tell in the photo, but the progress bars are pink and the text is white. The same thing happens in Windows. Where background parts of a window are supposed to be white they display as pink, but gray or other colours are mostly OK, and text is OK. But at some random times the entire screen is OK.
The M4300 had a BIOS update many years ago that was supposed to protect the Nvidia video controller from getting damaged. For many years it remained OK.
Can anyone diagnose this?
If the video cable came loose I can probably reseat it, but if the Nvidia controller decided it's time to join the club (the infamous Nvidia quality defects from that era) then I don't think I can fix it.

I have an Inspiron 15 5000 (5559) laptop that's a few months old, running Windows 10 with all the updates, virus free, yada yada. When the computer falls asleep, it frequently refuses to "wake up." The keyboard and screen backlights come on, but the primary screen does not (hooking up an external monitor works, but isn't a viable solution). Sometimes I can wait it out, hit a key, and then the screen comes back on, but most of the time it doesn't, resulting in a restart, causing me to lose homework, etc.
Rarely even restating the computer doesn't fix the issue, and the power light at the lower edge of the unit blinks an unusual pattern: 7 flashes of white, then quickly alternating white and orange. I've Googled for an hour and tried to find documentation, but I've only found articles relating to older models or generic answers that don't apply. I'm hoping somebody on the forums know what's up! I'm really hoping it's a fixable issue.
(Rarely, while in Win 10, the laptop will display a message confirming a BIOS change and wants to restart to apply the changes. This doesn't appear to be connected to the screen issues, but if it is, there you go)
I'm a power user, in college for Computer Support, so have at me with the technical details and instructions if you have a fix.

I saw many posts in the above thread about the hinge and popping out right side. Even i have the same issue. Lucky that everyone got it very early ,as I dont use my laptop very frequently i got it late. I had visited the DELL AUTHORIZED CENTER, they have just said one word we cannot do anything we are just a franchise not DELL and gave me the dell customer care number.
So does this means i have to bear for the poor quality. In all the posts of the above mentioned thread its only the right hinge side, does this not mean its a Dell Quality issue.
Please let me know whom to contact for my replacement as i dont feel i am responsible for this.

I am trying to get my XPS to connect to my 5 GHz home wifi network because there is far less interference and the speeds are therefore much higher. However, every time I try to connect, Windows 10 gives me the message Unable to connect to this network. The system can see the network but it refuses to connect. Other devices, such as my mobile phones connect to the network with no problem.
Here are my system details:
When I set the same network (same router) to the 2.4 GHz band, the connection works without a problem. It seems that only the 5 GHz band is causing issues. I'm therefore guessing its an issue with the network card. However, I'm sure that it does support 5 GHz networks. Has anyone else encountered similar issues? Are there other drivers I can try?

I have an XPS13 that I wanted to get a spare power adapter for. I purchased a used genuine Dell JT9DM on eBay. Same model number as the original adapter. If I plug the new adapter into the laptop and into the wall it charges the laptop. If I remove the power connector from the laptop the green light on the power adapter goes out and will not turn back on unless you unplug it from the wall and then plug it back in. The power adapter that came with the laptop does not do this, the green light stays on regardless of being connected to the laptop.
I figured the adapter I got on eBay was defective and purchased another. It does the exact same thing. So while I can charge the laptop battery with the two adapters, I have to unplug them from the wall every time I connect the adapter back into the laptop. Is there some way to re-program the adapter to stay on all the time?
