Alternate to Intel AC-7265NGW card

I have had it with the Intel AC-7265NGW card that came with my Inspiton 15 (5548). I've lost countless hours messing around with new drivers and different options, and it can barely sustain 3Mbps transfers (even though it says it's connected at 48, 72, 100Mbps at various times).

Is there a good M.2 card out there that would be a good replacement for this one?

Dell Inspiron 7000 (7560) Startup issues

I'm facing a peculiar issue with my Dell Inspiron 7560 laptop. When I start the laptop without the charger plugged in and press the power button, the laptop starts normally. However when I plug in the charger and then try to start the laptop by pressing the power button, the laptop simply won't start. It starts fine when the charger is not plugged in but when the charger is Connected , it won't start.

I have checked the charger and the same works fine after starting the laptop. The charger also passed the tests in pre boot diagnostics. I tried connecting from different wall outlets, still won't work.

The laptop is only a week old and this is the first time I'm seeing such an issue . I have also tried the "wake on AC charger " option in BIOS. So the laptop starts when i simply plug in the charger and the power button is no required .

So is it some issue with the charger or the motherboard or could be some loose connection inside the laptop. Kindly help if someone else experienced similar problems.

Is the PA-13/PA-15/PA-4E/PA-5M10 power supply safe to connect to an Inspiron 8600?

I was going through ebay for a docking station, when I discovered the PA-13 power supply. It could supply the full 130 watts of power. I'm thinking about getting it along with the docking station. Is this power supply safe to connect to the laptop directly, though?

P.S. As I was researching this supply, I discovered that there is also a PA-4E version. Is it safe to connect to the dock and the laptop?

Edit: Now I found out there is a PA-15 and PA-5M10 version, both of which can supply 150 watts. Which one of these is the safest to use with the dock and the laptop?

Preferred: PA-5M10

Dell Precision M6600 won't boot past Splash screens- just hangs with black screen

This laptop was working fine.  i went to swap out the hard drive and that's when the nightmare began.  At times we have found that if a laptop does not like the new imaged drive we go in and change the eSATA setting.  I thought that was the case here.  I changed it to RAID and now it won't come up at all.  At first it would only build half of the splash screen.... now it builds the whole dell logo.... and goes to a black screen.

XPS13 9350 battery drains heavily while in sleep mode

Hi everyone,

I have encountered the problem that when my XPS13 is on sleep mode during the night, in the morning the battery is 10-15% or totally dead. I normally leave it at 100% or 80% so that's a lot of battery life lost. With hibernate mode on, the battery does not drain, however, I am not a fan of hibernate mode as it shortens the lifetime of the SSD and takes a longer time to start up. Normally, I don't leave any high-performance apps open during the night, it's normally only Firefox, Skype, and Word that are left open in sleep mode. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Cheers

Dell M6600 has red screen

I had thought this was a legend but I now have a laptop with the red screen issue.  When it boots, rather than the background being black, it is bright red.  Then once Windows 7 comes all the way up you get this wavy annoyance of a hazey red zig zags across the screen

I have updated the BIOS and the drivers to the latest and greatest and still no joy.

Appreciate the help if you have seen this before.

thx

Inspirion 13 Touch Screen Scroll

For the past month or so when I go to scroll with my finger on the touch screen, instead of scrolling, it throws up the right click box.

I have searched online for solutions, checked the drivers, and everything else I could think of in the settings to fix the issue, but I am at a loss.  I just want to be able to scroll a webpage using my finger.

I use Chrome mostly.  When I scroll with my finger in a Word document, it works.

Anyone else having this issue?  Does anyone know what to do?

Hi... Was told to check out this thread to try and resolve my boot issue.   This is what the screen says when booting "Operating system loader has no signature.  Incompatible with SecureBoot.  All bootable devices failed Secure Boot verification".

Tried in BIOS to switch from Legacy to UEFI as the thread recommended however UEFI was already selected.

Wondering what else can be done to fix this.... it's all new to me :)

Thanks!

M6500 FIPS Drivers for Win 8.1

hello

i have an M6500 that i recently installed a fingerprint reader in. i was running win 7 and machine was in great working order. after i loaded the drivers for fips my computer freaked out and i fresh installed win 7 OS. at that point things got really bad.

at that point i used a dod scrubber program to wipe all ssd drives and started completely over. i reinstalled win 7 and could not get it to update, of course IE 11 would not update. after a lot of research i found there is an update by MS in june/july for win 7 that keeps win 7 from updating without it.

so i scrubbed all drives again and removed ssd #2&3. at this point im very frustrated and just cant understand MS and Dell with drivers that dont work, updates that basically disable an OS, blah blah whane.

i ended up installing fresh win 8.1 and reinstalling ssd's. win 8.1 updated and system is now operating normal. though the control vault is for "NO" fingerprint reader. also the device manager does not see the physical device, i assume that is due to having no drivers for device.

if you could help me out with this i would really appreciate it. i have spent a year upgrading and refurbishing this machine. i really like it and would like to get this fixed. my knowledge with hardware is good, but my software experience is lacking and limited. thank you all in advance.

FDE drive use with Precision WS

I would like to get a better insight of how Dell Precision workstations handle FDE drives (full-disk encryption, also called self-encrypting drives or SED). I don't want to use TPM, just a FDE drive by locking it down with a password. User manual and Dell resources are moot on this.

ATA standard specifies two password for locking a drive: Master and User. Master password can be used to bypass User password. Dell Precision BIOS allows to set one password for an HDD. I assume it is User password. How would I set Master password for that drive, since setting only User password is useless - it can be circumvented via Master password?

For HDD-0 (primary HDD), the system asks for the HDD password during boot. However, it never does that for a secondary hard drive for which an HDD password has also been set in BIOS. How so? Does it mean the BIOS is storing the password for the secondary drive in its memory?

Considering the above, how secure it actually is to use FDE drives with Dell Precision workstations?

XPS 13 9360 with 1920x1080 Touch?

Was looking at premiere the model xps13win10non1705_5171p includes a 1920x1080 touch screen. Is that correct? I am wondering since no where else is the combo of 1920x1080 and touch available?

Is there a model that includes Core i5, 16 GB, Touch and 128 GB? That is my ideal config and then I can drop in 960 Pro of my own.

Inspiron 3542 - No battery

I purchased this Laptop in Austrlia in July 2014. Have been using it most days since then. The battery has died.

The light on the front RHS that is usually blue, is flashing, blue and red. Power up - a message appears - "Your battery has experienced permanent failure and needs to be replaced. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility".  Some questions:

1. What is the warranty of the battery

2. What is the part number of the battery for replacement.

3.  Can I purchase a battery with greater storage (mAh )

4. is the battery 11.1V or 14.8V

Also, for the last 6 to 8 weeks, I have been using the laptop with the power connected all the time. Has that affected the life of the battery ?
