Latitude E7240 Not Starting
Hi,
I recently dropped my E7240 and since then it won't start...
With the battery and power connected, the battery light does 4 orange flashes and then a white a few times, then turns to constant orange flashing... I know that this means that my battery is dead but even without the battery connected, the laptop wont come on.
When I try to switch it on without the battery, the power light turns white but won't do anything else (no CPU fan). When I press it again, the CPU fan whirs for a few seconds and then it turns off.
I've tried swapping the RAM about, reconnecting the SSD and even re-seating the CPU but nothing helps.
Does anyone know if this laptop should boot without a battery (like most others) or if it is dependent on a working battery being present?

L322X New Battery
Hi all,
I have a Dell XPS 13 L322X that has a battery issue. I'm pretty sure it needs a new battery as the current one only charges up to 60% and no more, even though the Dell Detection program finds nothing wrong with it. I was wondering whether anyone knows where to buy a good quality battery at a cheap price from? I'm currently looking at this one simply because its the cheapest I can find:

However, I'm not too sure about it as everyone else seems to be charging a minimum of 50 quid for them. The website seems to be reputable and they have a 60 day money back guarantee and three year warranty. upgrade or replace
I have an XPS computer at least 6 or 7 years old that's still working well. But the battery now needs to be replaced as well as needing a new network card. The processor is intel cor (TM) i7-2630, QM CPU @ 2,00GH, 64 bit OS APCI x 64 based PC, 8 GB ram with pen support, running Windows 10. It is getting quirkier every time there's an upgrade.my email doesn't scroll smoothly anymore I used to be able to magnify a photo with the touch pad and that's disappeared..I don't know whether it's worth a rehab and if so, what needs to be upgraded. Should I reinstall the OS? Unfortunately money is an issue .I need a computer to do graphic design and I do try to get a better machine when I need a new one.I've seen some interesting new ones, but the prices are steep.

XPS 15 9550 - Pre sales questions
Hi guys, I'm looking to get an XPS 15 9550, i7 for my work (Web developer). As I've got 2 external HD displays I want to use, I'm going for the entry level i7 unit and upgrading it myself (avoids the Dell tax).
So, out if the box, does it support attaching 2 external screens and using them and the internal panel, giving you 3 screens in total?
Also, can you add a data disk if it doesn't come with one ( ie m2 ssd only).
Lastly how quick is the supplied m2 ssd, is it worth getting a 1TB m2 device instead?
Are there any gotchas to installing 32gb of ram via 2x 16gm sticks?

Inspiron N5110 wont power on at all?
My AC adapter and battery are both good. also replaced the cmos battery. However when i plug in the AC adapter to my N5110 the green light on the charger goes out and still nothing. I have replaced the charging port for 8.00 more dollars still the same issue. I cannot afford to replace anymore parts on a dead laptop that i am still paying off. The right hinge is broken also but that i can super glue. Any suggestions? Please Help I cannot Afford a 300.00 replacement motherboard. I have spent thousands on Dell laptops and desktops and software please HELP.

Performance Issue
I just got this Inspiron 11 3168. The HDD is 32GB. Can I extend this to 64 GB. Reason being there is only 3GB free out of 32GB. Most of space taken by Windows.
Due to this even the browsing is very slow and the entire system performance is slow. Can someone please assist

XPS13, 9360 - Touchpad
I miss the "middle click" dearly!
Is there any chance to assign this instead of e.g. "Cortana", or any 3/4-finger gesture?
I'm considering to search for compatible Synaptics drivers, because I'd also like to adjust some other aspects of this TP. Any comments on this?
Furthermore, are there any ideas on TP-care, so it does not look that(!) worn out, even when just barely used yet?

Dell Precision 5510 does not boot. Led flashing 2 white 2 amber
Hello,
I'm facing the following issue with a Dell Precision 5510 laptop with latest bios 1.2.14 A13. It appeared suddenly, I just rebooted a working system.
The laptop does not boot anymore and the Dell logo is not shown, however, the diagnostic battery led blinks 2 times white and 2 times amber.
According to the error table that I found here http://www.dell.com/support/article/uk/en/ukdhs1/SLN295101/EN#2016_to_Present that means
System Board : BIOS, ROM Failure
and the suggested next steps are:
- Flash BIOS to latest revision
- If problem persists contact Tech Support for further troubleshooting
Did anyone had a similar experience?
How can I re-flash the BIOS from a non-booting machine?
I found some tricks for the Dell XPS 9350 (extracting HDR and ROM files from bios executable and plugging a USB drive) but they do not seem to apply to this laptop.
Any help is really appreciated [:)]

BIOS upgrade for L702X cannot be run in DOS mode
Hello,
I tried to update my L702X Dell laptop BIOS to A19 revision using FreeDOS and I have the following message: "This program cannot be run in DOS mode."
I downloaded the BIOS here. On the page, it says that the file is compatible MS DOS. This is a lie, as otherwise it would run in FreeDOS. I even check the sha256 sum to be sure that the program was correct, and it is.
Is there any other way to upgrade my BIOS? I don't have any Windows NT installed, and don't plan on installing one just for that purpose.
Also, I just upgraded another Dell laptop (Latitude E6540) using the same method, and the program was working perfetly in FreeDOS, which means that this BIOS upgrade was generated for Windows only on purpose. This is unacceptable.

Inspiron 7559 Gaming Ed. - Support 144hz monitor?
Hi all! I have the Inspiron 7559 with an i5 cpu and the Nvidia Geforce GTX 960m for the GPU.
I'm looking to get a 144hz monitor for higher framerates on some games. May i check if the laptop and GPU can support a higher refresh rate monitor?
I understand that given my setup, i wont get ultra settings on a 144hz monitor. I'm actually looking at playing overwatch on low settings.

RAM issues Inspiron 5559 | i5 6th Gen | AMD Radeon 4GB |
Hi,
I recently purchased an Inspiron 15 5559 | i5 6th Gen | AMD Radeon 4GB. It came with a 4GB RAM that I had upgraded to 8 GB (there was one 4GB RAM in Bank 0, DIMM A; I added another similar RAM in Bank 2, DIMM B).
System Information would show 8 GB Installed Memory and 4 GB Usable Memory. But the second RAM has never worked. After trying all basic troubleshooting tips (e.g. msconfig, etc.). Nothing has worked.
Today I tried juggling both the RAMs and the DIMM slots. Both the RAMs worked in Bank 0, DIMM A but none of them worked in Bank 2, DIMM B, which leads me to believe that my Motherboard is damaged.
However, if it was damaged why/how does system information detect 8GB Installed Memory.

Latitude e5470 laptop backlit keyboard question
I purchased a Latitude e5470 laptop without the backlit keyboard and without the extra tracking ball you find in the center of the keyboard. I just have a regular non-backlit key board and then the tracking pad.
I've only seen the backlit keyboard with the tracking ball included. This does not fit my keyboard slot. There is an extra edge under the spacebar. I want to know if I can now buy a replacement keyboard that has the the backlit feature and fits in my keyboard slot.

Precision 7510 Presales questions
Hi guys, I was looking to get an XPS 15 9550, i7, but I'm now looking at a Precision 7510 for my work (Web developer). I'm presuming as with the XPS, it supports attaching 2 external screens and using them and the internal panel, giving you 3 screens in total?
I presume you use the mDP and HDMI ports to connect the screens?
Also, I'm thinking of the 1TB SSD and 2TB SATA drive, does anyone know the model of the m2 SSD - is it a Samsung SM961 stick? Anyone seen any benchmarks of that setup anywhere?

E6230 BIOS update doesn't work
I'm using a E6230 running BIOS A01. I want to update to the latest version, A16. The update process runs without error and reboots the laptop. However the BIOS version is still A01. I've tried updating from A01 to A02 as well: same result. I tried to update running both Windows and a USB drive with DOS. What do I need to do to install A16? Thanks!

Latitude e5420 plugged in, not charging. new dell battery installed
Hi all. My battery wouldnt hold a charge so i decided to replace it with a new dell extended life battery.
problem is, when i plug in the charger all i get is plugged in, not charging.
i have tried
1- removing battery and charger and holding power button for 20sec
2-deleted and reinstalled the battery drivers
3- loaded my bios by default
i have tried another dell charger, though mine is proper volts and amps also.
i have heard some people need to update bios, but i cant do this now battery is at 8% and i flung the old battery out.
any ideas?

Inspiron 15 3000 laptop disconnects from Internet/Network
Laptop is only 2 months old and Dell support won't help because I don't have a software maintenance contract and don't want to pay for support on a new laptop!
The laptop has been having issues with the connections to the Internet and network for a few weeks. This is my husband's computer and he doesn't remember if this was a problem from day 1.
I noticed that the WIFI options under Settings/Network disappeared. I went through the diagnostics and did a repair and it now shows WIFI.
When trying to troubleshoot problem with “no internet connection” I get the message:
There is no Internet connection
try:
checking the network cables, modem, and router
reconnecting to Wi-Fi
Running Windows Network Diagnostics
I ran the Windows Network Diagnostics for the Network Card and it passed all of the tests.
I checked the connection and it says it is connected
Troubleshooter can't find a problem
says it is connected but still can't connect to Internet!
I have many computers connected to the routers I use and never have a problem with the Internet nor Networking. I brought the laptop in my office and connected the laptop to a Eternet cable that works for another computer and I am sure the problem is with the new Dell Inspiron 15 3000 laptop.
I suspect this may be an issue with Windows 10 drivers but not sure what to check next. I see that other types of Dell computers have had issues with the network drivers and had to go back to Windows 7 drivers but not everybody has had success using the old drivers and some experienced other issues. Any suggestions?

Closing Dell Inspiron 15 laptop when connected to monitors shuts down computer
Hi,
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 laptop that is connected to 2 Dell monitors via a Targus docking station and VGA cables. However, when I close my laptop to sit under the monitors, it shuts down the computer and the screens go blank. Is there a setting that allows me to close the laptop while still working off the two monitors?
