I have encountered the "8 beeps on start up" problem. 

I've tried pressing "D" plus the power button to do the screen test which shows several solid colors flashing and then goes black after about 10 seconds. The power button stays lit but there are no "working" sounds coming from the computer. The fan runs lightly.

I've tried hooking up to an external monitor and there is no signal or display.

I've tried taking apart and reconnecting cables inside computer with no success.

Any other ideas? Could it be a hardware problem that I can replace myself?

Once either F2 or F12 works just key Works but noting happesn No boot menu or setup comes.

Removed Battery and Held power buttong for 15 seconds. Then installed battery again

Problem is not resolved ?

Hi,i hadnt charged my inspiron 15 5558 laptop for a while and now when i tried charging it the ac power cord glows properly but the led indicator on the laptop doesnt glow at all and if i try to press power button it just doesnt respond at all plz help

Just one week old.  Takes forever to boot up.

Took ages to stall first update

What apps in background could be slowing up.  I haven't loaded any apps yet.

My fiancee and I currently have the Dell Inspiron 17R SE laptop with the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230, and it has worked for a few months now up until the Monday of last week. While on the internet, my fiancee was noticing her wifi speed slowed down to a crawl. She performed speed tests to find out that the speed was not as high as it used to be. She updated drivers for the computer, as well as removed any clutter that would cause the wifi slowdown.

When we tried many options, they did not give us the results that we were looking for. Finally, after some process of elimination, we concluded that our wifi card needed a replacement. I don't want to get any old card to use and then find out that it doesn't fit or is not compatible with Windows 10. I have been taking my time to research what could be compatible to improve my laptop computer, but I have been coming up short.

What I would like to know is what wifi cards are compatible with our Dell computer so that we can get this replaced as soon as possible without having to pay out the nose for unneeded computer repair?

Sir,
I purchased my Dell 5558 laptop 4 months. After purchasing the laptop within a light spot was occurred at the upper of the LCD screen. I have complained to dell and after 3 days it was replaced but the new screen was also faulty more set up by the technician after that he call to his senior he said to change some cable as my point of view problem in lcd but he open my whole laptop and do research after 5 hours no result and again he requested a new lcd. The technician was not more proficient as the problem on LCD and he open whole my laptop its really frustaed.

This laptop is not as good as compared with its price level. It is very poor laptop and also the service within warranty is very bad. I am facing now a serious problem with the Dell laptop. I cannot understand what is the solution and how I get it. I am completely disappointed with the Dell laptop.

My concern is if problem in LCD why your tecnician and seniors person say to open whole laptop is it really they professional or you just hire to waste more time as well as create more problem as this is simple problem related to LCD not the whole system and do your refurbished team quality check before sending parts to customer.

Hi to all,

can anyone help to to remove BIOS password of Dell inspirion 3542. because i remove battery but it still asking for "Enter system password" whenever i turn on.

i tried to remove battery but failed to remove / clear CMOS.

it uses Nuvoton NPCE IO chip

The main selling points of these laptops are

Which are of my interest

- Fanless design

- Configurable up to 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of eMMC storage

- Full size keyboard and large touchpad of reasonable quality for the price. Unlike your newest Inspiron 11.6" with the shrinked keyboards, which was a definitive downgrade from your previous version. I don't care about the 2-in-1-ness. Did you notice the new one got worse reviews than the predecessor?

- They sell for ~$200-250. with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage

Feature which is not of my interest

- Whether they come with Windows or Chrome OS. Of course, I don't want to pay Windows tax (esp. not Windows Pro tax) if not necessary. Hint: you can sell an Ubuntu variant, with a normal, non-Chrome OS-style keyboard, it would definitely be interesting for some people.

On a side note, I don't quite understand why these cheaper, but sturdy laptops are called education (and enterprise) models. Sure, they are useful for kids in school, but when the same kid (or enterprise worker) comes home, the same people should switch to their flimsy home and small business models? These home and small business models exchange the sturdiness to useless features like they are being 2-in-1s with a touchscreen, which no sane person really needs in a laptop, it's just what all manufacturers are trying to sell these days. But think about it: if you are a careless person who trashes things at school or in your workplace, you will trash things at home as well. Or you are just a normal person who prefers sturdy things instead of flimsy ones. I don't quite get this marketing distinction, I don't get the logic, please, enlighten me. [:)]

A cautionary tale for you, laptop makers: Ask HN: Why do no other laptop manufacturers get it?

Can I expect a competing model for these anytime soon from your, or should I buy from Lenovo or HP ASAP? My purchase is not urgent, but I can't wait forever, either. Of course, there is no Mac in this price range, and I still have higher hopes for your service than that of HP or Lenovo, how about that? [:)]

So, problem is not with hardware, as all dell tests passed and evrthng is OK.

Windows does not boot (none, 7,8,8.1,10)

It stops.:

Error Code is memory management or DLC watchdog violation or ...nonpaged area smthng like this.

Good day to you.

i would like to ask you for little faviour about my dell laptop which having service tag is 85LC912.

unfortunately i give forget my laptop BIOS password.

due to not in use from long time i forget my password and now after 6 months i use but it asking for password whenever i turn on it.

"Enter system password"

i cant even boot, so i remove BIOS battery but still same.

here is screen of my problem hope can understand my problem

please send me proper way to reset /remove BIOS password so i can use and enjoy with Dell.

Hello friends at the Dell Forum,

I have an Inspiron 13-7359 and I'd like to disable the keyboard backlight so it's off all the time.  When I turn it off in Mobiliy Center, it turns itself on after reboot or sleep.  Any help would be appreciated.

hi,

I tried to update my 

Inspiron 17R 5737

with a new SSD drive and keep the old HD as esternal drive with a new case, tried many times to see the old disc without success.

the same disk and case working fine in other PC and other esternal drive works on my PC so I do not understand where is the problem.

the system is W8.1 updated, drivers are updated and no errors detected.

The current setup is a 500 GB (5 400 v/min) SATA-drive with a 32 GB mSATA SSD used as cache for the HDD (RST) and I'm thinking about changing the SSD to a bigger one and using it as a boot drive (and therefore turning of RST).

Is there anything I have to think of when it comes to looking for a new SSD or will any SSD with the mSATA form factor work?

Windows settings to extend screen to both monitors works fine until I undock then redock.  Then the Intel Graphics settings seem to override the WIndows display settings and only one monitor works until reset using the windows 7 screen resolution to detect and extend again.  When the Intel display app is opened from the system tray, the multiple monitors tool is only showing one of the 2 monitors connected.

My Inspiron 14Z has a hybrid drive with a 32GB SSD and a 500GB HD.  The OS is supposed to be on the SSD portion as drive C:

When I made the mistake of updating the 14Z to Windows 10, I waited too long to go back to Windows 7, and had to use the recovery disk to set it back to factory settings.  This didn't go well as the OS was put on the 500GB HD instead of the SSD.  The HD then became the C: drive.

The SSD is clearly visible in the Bios, but it is not visible in either Computer Management or Windows Explorer.  How can I make the SSD visible, and get the OS back on it?

Hi,
I have bought dell Inspiron 7559 2 months back. Around last 3 weeks iam facing hanging issues which is increasing. both keyboard and mouse pad hangs for a 2 to 3  second and gets normal. now its hanging again and again. Iam not even playing games on it that requires huge processing power. 
I hanged 7 to 8 times while writing this post.
Please suggest what to do.

Hi

The fingerprint scanner on my Dell has been faulty for a while now. When I got the Laptop I installed Dell security software, the one where you can put your fingerprint in for logging in, and used it. That program caused many BSODs per day so I had to remove it but now when using windows Hello fingerprint reading for logging in sometimes the scanner won't work and under signin options there is no option for fingerprint scanner. When checking the reliability history later it shows that Windows Biometric service stopped working. OS is win10 pro.
