Can't use laptop because Windows 10 is using 90% of the hard drive, what can I do besides using an external drive?

Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series

I have this laptop. My question is why would you sell a computer with 32GB hard drive when you know the OS will take up 20GB? How am I supposed to use this computer? I can't upgrade the HD and why should I buy an external drive for a laptop?

I am so utterly confused.

Thanks

Sadly, here too. Got the 9360 on Friday and it's a return + full refund on Monday. Another few days and the new pros will be out. I cannot for the life of me bear somebody admitting that buggy designs were deemed acceptable. If I did that om my job, I'd be fired instantly. Shame on you!

Hi,

I have Alienware 14 laptop. I keep getting a message that my battery is not charging when I plug in the laptop. I run  system test through Alienware Support Assist and the result was " Warning the battery is not charging to full capacity. This is normal as batteries age." My laptop is under warranty. Can you help me fix this problem please?!

Thanks,

The detail of the adapter above says that it is fully compliant with USB2.0 specifications, but it DID NOT mention if I can also install a USB3.0 Express Card in there.

So, please help whether I can install the USB3.0 Express Card using the adapter mentioned and specs of the laptop (PCMCIA type I/II) interface.

Hi Experts,

I have a 3 year old Dell Insiron 15-5521 laptop.

Up to now I have had no problems with it, but it now won't power up.  The charger has a green light on it but there are no lights on the laptop at all, and pushing the power button does nothing. It always run in Main power, its battery have some complaints that why I removed it before 3 months.

I have tried to keeping the power button pushed for 30 secs and then plugging main power back in, but nothing.  I have also tried a Universal power adapter which I know works on other laptops, but nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you

Battery issue

Hello,

I changed my Dell L502X (XPS 15) battery with a 9 cell battery instead of 6.

It fits in and such, but without power it just automatically shuts off when I enter the windows password. (even when its charged)

I asked for a replacement and it does the same, it just shuts off after the log-in screen. (without adapter)

Do I need to change some settings in control panel or in the BIOS?

W10 is my OS.

Hi. I apologize as this is going to be a long post. So, here goes-

I bought my Inspiron mini early in 2013. I don't use it much..been using it on and off last two years. The laptop got a bit slow but it dint bother me. Later I updated it to windows 10 thinking it might speed it up but no use.
Two days ago, I reset my laptop and chose " Keep my files" option but the reset dint happen. Then I chose the " remove everything option" with "remove everything and clean the drive" option and it resetted. Then I got a page with choose an option written with three options-
1. Continue with Windows 10
2. Troubleshoot
3. Restart my PC

I chose the first option and it restarted. The Dell logo came and after that it's blank screen! I shut it down and switched it on again and it's the same thing!! It's been two days..  I tried everything in the troubleshooting option too but no result!
Can anyone help me out? Please?

XPS delivery - unbelievable

Ordered XPS on the 13th of Oct. There hasn't been a single update on the shipping process other than the fact that it was shipped.

I cannot believe that they do not thell you upfront that the delivery is originating in china!!!! 3 weeks to ship a laptop! I find this absolutely outrageous.  Not so much the fact that they are doing it but the fact that they do not tell you upfront. I would have never ordered this laptop otherwise. Simply unbelievable.

We have noticed that the battery on our 7370's drains quite quickly. have had reports of under 2 hours. We have a balanced power plan enabled.   Now, I know it depends on what you are running, but the average report is around 3.5 to 4 hours.  Starting to tweak some of the settings, but was looking  to see if anyone else has experienced it.

Hi.

I've been talking through Skype when Windows reported low battery state. I've connected the charger (checked- the battery was charging) and continued the conversation.
After a couple of minutes the laptop shut down and won't boot any more. When I press the power button the front LED blinks 6 times (2 orange blinks, 4 white ones).

Can anybody suggest what to do with this?

Hi

I have a Dell Inspiron 3537 which won't switch on. The device was working a few minutes ago until when it shutdown because the battery was low.

I got home and plugged it in and showed no indication of charge. The charge led doesn't go on but when I plug it in, the led on the charger switches off after I plug it in my laptop.

Please help me out because I'm a student and can't risk all my data being wiped.

DOA laptop

My laptop was DOA when I received it on the 5th of this month. I returned it for repair and now the picture is really bad. I went through the picture adjustment procedure 3 times and it is somewhat better, but my old HP laptop is much better to the point I wish I had never bought this Dell. Not sure how to proceed, I guess I should call them. I heard I have 21 days to exchange it for a new one? It was gone for two weeks getting repaired which means I am paying new price for a refurbished laptop. I hope I can just get my money back. I made one payment already.

Latitude e7470, BitLocker, Windows 7

We just purchased a new Latitude e7470. We have installed Windows 7 Enterprise on it. TPM is enabled in the BIOS with the default settings. Windows 7 is installed in Legacy mode instead of UEFI. BIOS version is 1.9.4, the latest version. I noticed this has TPM 2.0 whereas our previous e7450s had TPM 1.2. I'm not entirely sure what the difference is, but I'm assuming it's enough for it to not work.

Anyways, when I enable TPM for the OS drive, I get this message:

"The Trust Platform Module (TPM) on this computer does not work with the current BIOS. Contact the computer manufacturer for BIOS upgrade instructions."

I have the latest version of the BIOS. My only guess is Windows 7 is not fully compatible with TPM 2.0? I installed a hotfix, but that only appears to have installed a driver for TPM. How can I fix this?

Faulty Equipment

Hi,

I have been having a problem with the system which was a replacement for a previous system that had a problem.

My current system has had repair personnel out to my home several times and has been in the Dell shop for repairs several times as well.

I have backed up, and reformatted my drive. Have had everything but the screen replaced and still have a problem.

I was told that I would be receiving a replacement unit but nothing has happened.(update now something will be shipped between 10/31 and 11/7) but what they will ship is unknown

I even requested a free upgrade and was told that they can only send me the same unit just refurbished

Any ideas what to do?

Customer service is surely lacking and I have been a devout Dell user for years and have convinced family and friends to buy Dell. I even got my wife to purchase Dell equipment for teachers at her former school.

I have copies of all emails that show that this was to be done

Thank you

Brian.

Refusal to replace Motherboard in Inspiron 15 i7 PPID tag missing

$

My Laptop is out of warranty and does not power on. No response to any attempt to start it.

I approached Dell Technical Support which guided me to go to local technician. He could not repair the laptop.

Then I went to Authorized Dell Service Centre in Gurgaon, India. There after initial diagnostics I was informed that the PPID tag on the motherboard was missing and so they can not replace the motherboard. I approached them again and verified with the Technical support yet no help.

The only solution offered was to sell the laptop when a simple replacement can easily solve the issuee. All this is being prevented by a small piece of PPID tag gone missing!
