Windows won't boot, linux boots ok. corporate protection?

Hello,

I have bought older laptop latitude e6520, that was used in enterprise company before. It was running ok, until I upgraded RAM to 16GB. After hw change, windows wont boot either to system, or new installation. It always hangs at the screen with ms flag and rolling balls and hangs. Either win7 or win10 installation/boot. I can boot with no problems to ubuntu and all hw diagnostics are OK. I have tried to restart bios, upgrade bios, remove cmos battery for a while, revert hw change, but it still fails. Do you have any idea, what could cause that? I have tried with original disk and two different hdds and result is still the same. Should that be any protection in laptop from that enterprise company? When the laptop is booting, there is everytime shown name of that company.

I have no idea what to try now. I can run windows virtually from ubuntu, but I would like rather to have dualboot setup with native windows.

Battery in my inspiron n50101 has been worn off .now i am searching to buy a new one as it's replacemrnt.o research i came to know that it has to be same kind as the one which i used previously i am so confused and cn't risk the money by buying wrong one

1.its a 48whr batter ,type:j1knd 

i can't identify  wheather it's a 6 cell or 9 cell and also its part number.the battery available here is 6 cell battery and its part number is 8NH55/4YRJH.please help me to choose the right one.

Hi, I am having to remove battery and AC adapter every day to hold down the Power On button an discharge the static build up.

Is there a permanent fix?

So its been 3 weeks since i got my dell 7559, for gaming and now out of no where one day couple of problems starting happening, first my keyboard  dosent response during login, then somehow my graphic card is disabled and not working.And i cant even start its previois driver, so i try and did every possible soultion on the internet that i can find,but still mycard isnt readed yet.

If therer any DEVs here,guys please help, its not haven been a month and i am already having soo many problems

Hi All.  My daughter's computer is coming up with hard drive errors and sometimes won't boot up. I've checked it in boot up test and it fails the short test every time. It think it's time for a new drive. It's been upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.

My question is how do I reinstall Windows 10 again without software as it's been upgraded by me. It still works but things can only get worse. Can I copy the whole drive to an external drive? There is no Windows 10 recovery image for her service tag when logging in on the Dell site. Iv created a recovery image on a USB drive though she would have to reinstall everything. A shop I guess could copy everything whilst the goings good. The Computer is a basic one and is 3 years old in December.

Hi,

I have spent days of troubleshooting this deployment . It is still crashing with BSOD 7b when booting Windows 7 x64 for the first time.

Chipset: Intel Skylake

HDD: Liteon CV3-8D128-11 (Main suscpect, cannot find any drivers for this one)

Hotfix KB2990941 & KB3087873 are installed

I have successfully deployed WIndows 7 to a different Skylake computer with a Samsung drive. Help is greatly appreciated.

XPS 13 adapter suddenly stopped working.

I have an XPS 13 that I wanted to use for work this weekend, the power adapter just stopped working. It's done this a couple of times in the past for a short period, but this time it's been for 6 hours or more.

I wasted over an hour on that *** "Dell.com" website trying to submit a support ticket or something, but of course you avoid wasting time and money for contacting customers.

It is still under warranty. What do I do????

Did Dell just stop selling 16gb XPS 13's with i7 7500u's?

Warranty Problem

I purchased an Inspiron 7359 2-in-1 from Amazon on Sept 30, 2016.  When I registered the product the Service Assistant showed that it was purchased on Feb 1, 2016 and that my warranty would expire on May 2, 2017.  How do I get my warranty extended to the correct 1 year coverage as stated on the Dell web site?  I have tried to contact support in several ways and have had no luck.  example:  when trying to email, the form keeps telling me to input my phone number in phone number format but will not accept any format I tried and, therefore, I cannot complete the email and submit it.  I'm hoping someone from Dell monitors the forums and will offer some help.  Or if anyone else has had this issue, how was it resolved.  Thanks.

Version Inspiron 15R SE 7520 comes in several languages for keyboard .. Arabic .. Spanish  ..  US English ... etc., and I do not find a replacement for my keyboard UK Issue ...

I live in the Sultanate of Oman,..... can I use any keyboard for Inspiron 15R SE 7520 laptop, like Arabic .......  note my keyboard are the 87 key, & there also 86 key, and they dominant in the online market for the same laptop ???? are they the same socket ?? Do I need dell program for the new one ? ?

Motherboard failure after 1 year - why???

I had my Dell inspiron, the 2-in-1 tablet/laptop model for JUST over a year until it started having issues with the battery... It would be very unreliable and sometimes not recognize the charger, saying plugged in, but not charging. I took it to a repair shop and they tested a different charger, different power dock, and differnt battery and nothing work. The conclusion was that it is a motherboard failure. I am shocked as I've had this just over a year.. so, just out of warranty! Very dispapointed, paid $1000 last year for this.... Now I have to buy a new computer, most definitely NOT a dell. 

Touch screen turns off after lid is closed/reopened

Hey there,

I have a Inspiron 15 7559 with touch screen. The touch screen works fine, but when i close the lid and open it again it stops.

I have to go into device manager to disable then re enable it to make it work again. I've tried "allow this device to wake up computer" as that was the only option on the web, but that doesnt work

Any ideas?

Hey there,

I have a Inpsiron 15 7559 with touch screen. This usually works fine, however when i close the laptop lid and reopen it, the touch screen stops working. 

I have to disable then re enable the driver in device manager to make it work again.

I have tried 'allow this device to wake the computer' as that was the only suggestion i could find on the web, but this does not work.

Any ideas?

I tried purchasing a laptop today. I guess Dell isn't in the business of selling those? I guess they are more in the business of transferring you from one "customer care" department to the other for hours (or not having been hung up on at least a few times).? What happened:

I selected (XPS 13 256gb i5) and checked out with a laptop using two forms of payment; A thousand dollar gift card and 35 dollars on my credit card. I entered the billing info incorrectly on my card I guess and here's where the fun starts. I get an email entitled the following:

Dell Order Has Been Received for Dell Purchase ID:

Then I get:

Action Requested: Dell Order Held - DPID

I call in trying to fix it and am transferred four times, hung up on. Call in again, put on hold and hung up on. Finally calling in again after telling the person they weren't allowed to transfer me (I said it last time to no avail) at hour 1.5 am told this is because the credit card didn't authorize the transaction. It took that long to identify the problem. Call my credit card, they say I entered the billing address incorrectly in like 2 minutes. Back at it with dell. They can' t modify the address. DELL CANNOT MODIFY THE ADDRESS if it's been entered incorrectly. Incapable. They never said that but they can't do it. Nobody out of the 5 departments:

1. Post purchase

2. Order modification

3. Payment processing

4. Sales

5. Cancellation

can modify the order. So I cancel it. I am told that there should be a balance in the gift card because there "is no order, the order never went through." That is an exact quote. I go back, make the same order and viola the gift card has nothing on it.....what....do....I....do. I have obviously tons of evidence of what transpired.

Product name: Inspiron 11 - 3147 running Windows 8.1

After my computer requested that I do a Windows update, I did in, and my computer restarted. It encountered an error and my screen with the Dell Logo. it said

"Error C000003A applying operation (GWXUX.exe)"

after restarting, and getting the same error screen, I brought up the Windows Recovery screen, but said I had another error 

"error code 0xc0000001"  

and to contact my computer manufacturer ect. Then gave me a 3 options, Enter to continue, f8 to open more options and Ecs. Upon hitting f8, there are options 1-9 and none of them work. Each option results in me returning to the Dell logo screen and the Error message along the bottom.

I did some research and found many others in the boat, but often their problem can be solved simply but tapping f8 at the Dell screen to bring up Advanced Startup Settings but that doesn't work. Nothing happens.

I figured my computer would start if I booted it from my USB but I am not able to get my computer to read from the USB stick or a start disc.

I ran Dell diagnostics and everything is fine.

I apologize if this isn't the right place to post this or if this exact thing was posted in a thread elsewhere but If someone could give me any advice on how to get my computer to boot and work will have my sincere thanks!

I was having problems with my inspiron 3521 so I ran the epsa  hard drive test and I received the following error message

Error Code 2000-0142

validation 98682

msg Hard Dive 0-S/N TEA55D49H9MJ4W, Long self test unsuccesful

Technical Support will need this information

Can anyone help me with what this error code means,

System recovery options

I just bought a vostro laptop. It has win7 Pro installed. Can anyone tell me what system restore options I have. Dell back up and restore is not installed though I have the option to create restore media. However there is no windows activation code on the laptop or in the paperwork. There was with my last Dell laptop. How could I reinstall windows without an activation code or would the reinstall media somehow not need an activation code as it would be reinstalling to this Dell laptop with its specific service tag?

On my last Dell laptop Dell backup and restore was installed and there was a reset to factory state option but there doesn't seem to be such an option with this new laptop.

Hi members.. I have Dell inspiron 5547 and i want to install SSD on it but i dont know which SSD drives are compatible for my laptop model. Can someone please confirm and suggest good SSD's? 

Also is it possible to install a small Sized SSD for windows and use HD for my storage and other purposes?
