Running Windows 10 v1607 x64 on all (+/- 300) our Dell E5550 laptops. We notice that on all systems there is an Unknown Device present in devicemanager.

Searching this ID it looks like i am missing the Intel(R) Smart Connect driver, however i cannot find this driver on the Dell website for Windows 10. Can anyone help me out with this please? Thank you!!
AW 17r3 (6820hk, uhd display, 32gb ram, 980m 4gb, itb hdd, 256 gb samsung951 m2) laptop just arrived from dell outlet, Win 10 is on slow hdd vs fast samsung 951 256gb already in it. I specifically payed more to get the speed feature of os on fast drive. I have and still own many alienware and dell products. First time I have been disappointed by performance, I am counting on them making it right - never had a problem before. AW has painfully slow load/boot speed - slower than 3 previous laptops. Os should have been on fast drive.I have premiere care for 364 days.Will they correct it.suggestion: exchange my Samsung951 256 drive for one with os already on it. I have slow dsl speed so that solution would take forever. dell please look at my registered devices, the quantity should show I am a fan. If anyone has done this before and has a step by step - let me know, in case I am left on my own. Thanks.

I have dell inspiron 3537. Since last 2 days i m facing strange problem. My sound icon keeps flickring between mute and unmute and touchpad starts lagging. I tried to update driver but no help. I m attaching screenshot of the problem for the better understanding.
any suggestions, thinking of getting a SSD drive for myself for Christmas. probably the 250gb. i want the fastest one (of course) . and also, i got a external drive, could just back up and restore my current setup. but thinking a new install would set it up the best.
I have a Dell inspiron 7548 non-touch, HD display version. But i looked up everywhere, i couldnt find a version of that sort. all of 7548s had a 4K display and a Touch Display? Is there a non-touch HD display version or is this a fake dell laptop?
XPS 12 stays in sleep and will not power up.

Recently recovered from a hard drive crash. I've got the new OS working but didn't have the Dell Touchpad driver installed.
I downloaded the driver Dell.com suggests for the computer. The first time I ran it from Control Panel it worked fine. I dislike using the touchpad and disabled it.
Every subsequent time I click "Dell Touchpad" from Control Panel, the computer pauses for a few seconds and gives me this message:
"Dell Touchpad has stopped working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I have reinstalled the driver several times. I can enable/disable the touchpad using Fn + F3 and the notification icon is present in the system tray but whenever I run from Control Panel the program stops working correctly.
Any ideas what this is about?
After Windows 10 XT3 was working very well for almost a year except for two things: touchscreen and fingerprint reader.
Got the touchscreen to work and the other day found that the ControlVault software had an update with Windows 10 notes. Successfully installed the Software, but after Firmware update got to about 75% the machine locked up.
After that the machine wouldn't boot properly - it would power up and look like it passed the POST, but then would shut down about 20 seconds in.
Here is what was tried:
F2 to BIOS, LOAD DEFAULTS, FREEZES AFTER HITTING APPLY - SHUTS DOWN
Removed Battery, AC, CMOS Battery, held down Power Button for 30 seconds, Plugged in AC, Hit Power, GETS TO SEARCHING FOR PIX, FREEZES AFTER 20 SECONDS - SHUTS DOWN
Replaced Battery, CMOS Battery, AC, held down FN, pressed Power, released FN, DIAGNOSTIC BEGINS, FREEZES AFTER 20 SECONDS - SHUTS DOWN
FYI: after the shutdown the Drive Icon is BLINKING, Power is SOLID, Network is SOLID
Am I screwed here?

Tried to upgrade my E5570 (current drive is 128GB M2 SATA) with new 512GB Intel 600p NVME SSD, but ran into problem. BIOS cannot find this drive.
Updated to latest BIOS - no luck. Disabled SATA completely - no luck.
Windows 10 installation disk also cannot find new drive (tried many drivers)

Hiya... I'm hoping someone can solve this tiny niggle I have with my xt3. Just purchased an XT3 second-hand, and so far so good, however when switching to touch in tablet mode - no keyboard automatically appears when using chrome. When using internet explorer a touch keyboard appears so you can type in to the web at etc, but the same keyboard doesn't open when using chrome, so I literally can't do anything via chrome on tablet mode as no keypad appears for me to press any letters. I have always been a chrome user, and really don't wanna be using internet explorer. It's probably something I have missed in settings but I can't seem to find anything to fix the small issue! Any help would be appreciated. Thank s in advance. Nick.
After I install the recent Windows 10 anniversary update, my HDD (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) program will crash and keep starting a process called [ ]helper <--- I forgot the name of this process which will max out my CPU when every time I boot up. Also, I will sometimes get a pink screen when I boot up. I don't know what problem is, and Windows 10 support - reinstall Windows 10 didn't work. So, I just want to know what the problem is. To me, it seems like a driver issue, but the pink screen just makes no sense. Also, I tried to install new drivers, but it still doesn't work. I just got this laptop 8 days ago, and this upgrade issue caused me a lot of trouble. Thank you for reading through this unorganized texts!
Laptop has stopped working. I get 2 beeps when the laptop powers on and according to the beep errors its something to do with Ram or Memory. Both the ram and memory seem to work but the laptop won't power on. Anyone else experienced this before?
Hello, I have Inspiron 5520 which originally has i3 2370m. I have upgraded the CPU to i7 3632QM anad it works perfectly but I found out that Turbo Boost is not activating during the work. Here is the diagnosis from HWinfo:
As you can see, it shows that Turbo Boost is not activated. And from my tests I can definetely tell that the maxumum speed of the CPU is nominal - 2,2GHz without any further rising according to the Turbo specs.
Also I tried to install the Intel utility to monitor Turbo Boost but it gave an error saying that it can't find CPU with Turbo Boost support. But the 3632QM is supporting it ofcourse.
BIOS settings do not have any Turbo Boost options so It can't be activated/deactivated from there. The BIOS version is latest avaliable A14.
Why Turbo can't be activated on this laptop? And I saw that many other people with different machines can't do it as well. That is so pity and unfair. :( How I can enable it? Looking for your help please.
Over the last few days, since I started using my Inspiron 3520 with Windows 10 on it after a hardware issue that arose a while back from my own doing, I barely did anything on the laptop before it started acting all crazy and all. I did have to do a hard Shutdown quite a few times when it seemed to freeze up on a black screen or at other times before this all started, but I'm assuming that had nothing to do with it... though it couldn't have helped.
I've tried multiple times to do a System Restore, only to keep coming up with an error code 0x80070005, because of some anti-virus program installed/currently running, when I have more than one installed (which I know shouldn't be done, but dunno which work or not at any given time). And now, I can't even do one to before this all started, as I've repeatedly kept trying to do while disabling certain services in Windows Task Manager. Because I tried uninstalling some Windows C++ Redistributable programs from other people who've had the same problem, where with some programs or whatever, I keep getting a "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect." message. And after I attempted installing the files I downloaded to fix this problem, I got the SAME message as I do for the programs that refuse to run.
So did I do/see something wrong in what I needed to do? As at this point, I feel like my only option is to reset my PC to its default settings (but keeping what files I have installed), even though I might lose certain programs that despite the fact they shouldn't still be working, they do and doubt I can use them again after resetting the PC if I back them up and reinstall them (like McAfee, even if I have another Virus protection program that is still being paid for afaik). But I think this is the only I can fix whatever issue is causing it, as well as hopefully get back what programs I already (or rather, the only ones it would let me do so with) deleted. As I dunno what is causing said issue on apps/programs to prevent me from installing downloadable files like the C++ Redistributable files I downloaded, if that's not the issue or even installing one I didn't already have. I tried looking at my Windows Event Viewer to see if it'd tell me anything, but it didn't do so, when I redirected it to be examined through the Internet.
And I did maybe also try upgrading my Windows 10 earlier, before I interrupted it when I needed use of my laptop during a live television event earlier for something that I didn't even get. But I dunno if that would even help at this point. So... thoughts?

Hi, I just got my laptop 2 weeks ago and it makes this grinding/rattling noise randomly from time to time. Also, when I shake the laptop very gently, the same sound goes off. I've updated all the drivers and BIOS. The laptops only been used 5 times.
I currently have a Studio 1737 with a 500GB SSD, Windows 10, and recently bought a Studio 1749 with a 750GD SATA HD, Windows 10.
I'm wondering if it's possible to just switch the SSD with the SATA to the new laptop, or if I should go through the process of making a recovery USB, install the SSD to the 1749, reformat and reinstall Windows 10.
I'm not really relishing the idea of losing all my programs with the reformat, especially since I have long since lost the registration keys, etc. for most of the programs.
Any suggestions?
My belkin soho kvm F1DS104J when just connecting the usb cable from the kvm only to the dock only the keyboard works. The mouse seems to work for a split second and then stops? If I connect the usb cable from the KVM directly to the laptop both the keyboard and mouse work?

I'm a new member of the "Dead M3800s" Club. My warranty is out, and my machine decided to die about two weeks ago.
My machine has already been "healed" 2 (or 3) times in a year, with two mobo swap, which is still the Rev 1.0 one...shouldn't I receive the Rev 2.0, since I've told Dell about the malfunctioning from the first time and considering the fact that it may be related?
How did it end up for the other "out of warranty" M3800 owners? Any news? Also, they made me an outrageous quotation for the repair!
